2024 College Football Thread: Ohio State advances to play unbeaten hypothetical SEC team (2 Viewers)

the toyota corolla was the winner of the green car journals car of the year in 2020 and received a nhtsa five star safety rating its not glamorous but it gets the job done take that to the bank brochachos
Toyota Corolla has been going strong since 1966.

Think of all the cars that have come and gone since 1966. Particularly American cars (not that there are any left).

Corolla may not be "imaginative". But it's been dominating for 60 years in a market where most nameplates don't last 8 years.

its like god himself was reading this thread and saw doubting thomas posts about notre dames passing game so he smote you all with a passing touchdown much like he smote uzzah for touching the ark of the covenant while it was being transported to jersusalem so let it be written let it be taketh to the banketh brohans
To be fair, it is his mother’s team. That’s usually the joke

are you day drunk? on medication? Beck is not very good because the ffa posters say that? His stats with total qbr have him ranked 8th, that is not very good? Are you watching the game today because this Gunner kid isn’t having a bad game.

Not "day drunk" but thanks for asking I guess.

It seems the general consensus is Beck is not very good.

I don't think that. I think the consensus is he is not a starting NFL QB. So when it comes to draft grades, I have him very low. Like a 4th rounder. But for a college QB he's well above average.

10 point lead might be insurmountable for this Georgia offense today.

Georgia is the play at half. Might not win, but I'll definitely take them at half.

ND D was on the field a lot, played last week, and I think they start to bend. Georgia had better not panic though. That first series for ND after half could be a big one.

not since saul threw a spear at david which nearly missed david and instead got stuck in a wall has catholocism seen a surgical missle strike like that last pass td from notre dame take that to the bank brochachos

Who had SWC as a great biblical scholar on their 2025 bingo card?

That and hot Toyota Carolla defenders. What a thread!
To be fair, it's been as long as the Corolla's origin....or Saul.....since ND's played well in a big game like this.

id like to see the notre dame players ride in for the second half on a toyota corolla that has had its roof cut off and has been converted into a horse drawn chariot much like when joseph was placed in pharohs second chariot and later when joseph went out to meet his own father jacob in his own chariot for it as true today as it was then taketh that to the banketh brochachos

Not reading through the last few pages, as I don't want to relive that debacle any further. That was....not good. Totally outclassed from the kickoff. It's amazing how different tOSU has become in the past month, I just don't see how anyone beats them at this point with that much talent now that the coaches seem to have figured out how to get the most out of it. They totally outschemed the Ducks on both sides of the ball, and Lanning and staff had no answers. Still believe in him and the trajectory of the program, as not too many first time head coaches pick up a natty in year 3 and each year has been a little better than the last. But he does need to keep growing and learning.

More importantly he needs to get some elite skill position guys here. The whole "unlimited NIL" Uncle Phil narrative is such a tired and lazy take, as the Ducks aren't even in the top 10 in spend this year by most estimates, and tOSU paid at least double for that roster. And it sure showed on the field! It will be interesting to see the roster management over the next few months. They've got a bunch of youngsters waiting in the wings at QB, RB, in the secondary, etc, that on paper are more talented than the transfers he's brought in the past couple of years to man those spots. A few contributors have decisions to make on staying, transferring, or going pro. Great recruiting class coming in, but you usually can't count on more than a couple of them contributing in year 1.

The Rose Bowl is always amazing, so no regrets. Stayed at an ABNB with 6 other friends, saw a bunch more that were down here on NYE and at the game, and another perfect weather day in Pasadena on Jan 1. If you've never been, I highly recommend it! After the game came back to our place and cancelled all the travel plans for Dallas and Atlanta. I guess that's the only silver lining, probably just saved myself about $5K!
As an outsider looking in, to me Oregon needs to start investing in line play. Their fat guys dominated your fat guys all game.

If Oregon ever figures out THAT part is the most important part - then they win national championships.

That was definitely true of the Ducks in their earlier runs to the playoffs/BCS era. They'd destroy lesser teams with speed and skill players, but would run into a problem when they faced LSU, Auburn and Ohio State. It was men against boys on the line.

But the last coach Oregon had (can't remember his name his haircut is stupid and he looks like he enjoys eating boogers) started recruiting big boys on the line, which Dan Lanning continued, so it's been a priority.

And, if you look at recent NFL drafts, you see guys like Penei Sewell going in the top 5 (he's probably the best OT in pro football right now) and Kayvon Thibedeux who plays well on the DL when healthy (also taken top 5 in the draft).

But you're right, they need to learn from this one. It was bad all the way around and I'm not sure if it was just a one-off bad game or something that's more problematic. I mean, they don't have Ohio State's WRs or RBs, that much was obvious. Also not sure Dylan Gabriel was anything more than a system QB who was good but not capable of elevating his team. I'd be shocked if he played QB in the NFL. He's about 5'9" in heels.
You can say that again, GB.

Not calling this over just yet, but color me curious that the bottom four and top four seeds will all be eliminated. If that doesn't tell you the seeding system needs improvement, I dunno what else does.

If....huge if.....it is just like MLB is starting to see with the new rules on byes vs. play-in teams.

Editing on mobile is about as effective as Oregon's defense against Smith.

Why are the Georgia fans dressed up like the Road Warriors? Funny seeing people in these costumes with sad faces

I just want to prepare you fellas. You know how this ends, right?

After a near half-century of Penn State not being able to win a big game, they're going to win the first 12 team playoff.

Everybody's going to argue OSU, Texas, whoever wins this game.

But it's going to be Penn State.

The hell they are getting through Ohio State.

And there is another huge drop from a GA WR.

This made Beck look a lot worse than he was……

Beck threw 12 Ints. That's not all on his WRs.
He was not great and I stated that but his WR’s were atrocious all year too. I watched all his games and it was ridiculous how many drops with on the money throws there were.

I absolutely pull the trigger on him in the second or third round. He will be there and IMO if he is not rushed (he is not ready) he can be an NFL QB one day.

Tua replacement?

Is Buffalo a CFP semifinalist based on the transitive property? Many are saying. 🔍
With Pete Lembo, all things are possible.
He's great, we love him. Instant culture change when he came in and Mo Linguist left. Bulls fans thanking Alabama for paying his buyout and leaving us with a better coach. I've heard South Carolina fans (I think you're an SC fan?) liked him a lot too.
Yeah. Great guy and well liked. I think a lot of us are enjoying the success he is having at Buffalo.

Seems like he took all of the Special Team magic people associate with Beamer away from him
