2024 College Football Thread: Ohio State advances to play unbeaten hypothetical SEC team (1 Viewer)

The play by play announcer, name eludes me but he is trying way too hard
I wish they would just call the game, he comes across like he's trying to sell the only meaningful football all weekend college or pro
I think they fired this guy from MNF after just one year.
It's like the first time he's ever seen a football game
I miss Keith Jackson
Joe Tessitore, awful for football...needs to stick to boxing. He's still nowhere near as bad as Gus Johnson

This fsu team sucks.

Long way to go but I felt good about covering the spread against this QB. He’s just never been able to put it together.
Wasn’t he ok for Oregon St last year? He has to have like 50 career starts by now how is he this mediocre (other than those 4th down throws)

Clemson let him go and he was decent for OSU but he’s limited and I’m not sure what. He hasn’t made any mistakes but he’s not bringing much to the table either.

Is FSU a big Irish school?

My wife asked me about this. I’m fairly certain this is the 3rd time GT has played over there - Notre Dame and BC were the other two if I recall and those made sense. This one is more just a showcase - neither school has any or many Irish ties that I’m aware of.

ETA: it’s also possible I’m making up the ND game - I’m deep in to a bottle of Irish whiskey

Man I’d rather watch just about anybody other than that guy.

I didn’t realize people did not like Joe Tess. He’s the best in the business imo

I usually agree that he’s good and I’ve always liked him - today I did notice him being a little over the top like Gus on some calls. It was a great game and didn’t need the embellishment but it didn’t ruin the game or anything.

Joe Tess problem is he tries to manufacture different phrases. Like after the game he went on about GT finding their pot of gold at the end of the rainbow or some nonsense

I had a high school flashback on that GT fumble that they recovered.

Didn't make sense that GT got that ball back. I watched the replay on Youtube, and #10 had it, but instead of jumping on the ball, as you are taught in Pop Warner, he tried to scoop it for a TD.
All he had to do was continue his momentum and fall, but he slowed down to scoop the ball with two hands, and the GT lineman did what you are supposed to do.

I don't really mind players going for a defensive TD, but selfish choice that really hurt them.

This Montana St/NM game has been crazy. New Mexico was beating the hell out of them and MS just took the lead with 10 seconds left.

One thing I noticed yesterday is these teams are letting play clocks go down way under 15 seconds due to the helmet comms. FSU only ran like 58 plays I think. I may be auto betting unders these first few weeks until teams realize they are killing themselves leaving a dozen plays a game on the field.

Not sure about FSU but the talk on GT side was it was intentional to shorten the game.

Every team less talented wants to shorten the game but I imagine some teams will self-inflict with coaches over coaching into the helmet speaker during the game.

Wait, is DJ uaighaelieligileli the QB for FSU now?

He's on his world-wide tour of playing for every major program. He's splitting 2035 between Colorado and Maryland.

Excerpt from NB.com article on NOA....

The document states that seven members of the 2023 Michigan football program — including current head coach Sherrone Moore — are accused of violating NCAA rules. Moore is specifically cited for allegedly deleting 52 text messages from a thread with Stalions in October 2023, though the messages have since been recovered. Moore said he looks forward to them being released.

Moore is facing a potential Level II violation for deleting the messages, which could bring with it a significant penalty, such as a suspension, because the NCAA considers him a potential repeat violator of NCAA rules due to an earlier NCAA investigation into Michigan’s COVID-era recruiting violations. Moore worked with the NCAA to resolve his role in the case as part of a negotiated resolution, which means both sides were in agreement on the violation and its severity as well as the subsequent penalty. A negotiated resolution expedites an NCAA investigation because the subject agrees to admit wrongdoing.

Former Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh, former assistants Chris Partridge and Denard Robinson, and Stalions are all accused of committing Level I violations, as is the school itself. Former assistants Jesse Minter and Steve Clinkscale (who both followed Harbaugh to the Los Angeles Chargers this offseason) have been accused of recruiting violations unrelated to Stalions’ scouting operation. ESPN first reported the specific coaches mentioned in a draft version of the NCAA’s NOA earlier this month.
The biggest takeaways from this right now are Minter and Robinson are cooperating and working with the NCAA in attempts to plea down their cases. With the previous recruiting NOA and punishment from COVID, Moore and Harbaugh are considered repeat offenders.

UoM and NCAA have this time to negotiate a settlement for the NOA, which could include suspensions, vacated games and titles, scholarship reductions, and postseason bans. One phrase that seems to appear throughout the NOA is "reckless indifference to NCAA bylaws", which leads to "lack of instiutional control". The guise of this being a lone wolf with Stallions seems to be imploding up north. With the NOA now delievered, I'd expect more leaks from the document, if not the entire document, will be out there by the end of the week.
