*** 2024 Pittsburgh Steelers: Defense dominant in road win in Atlanta (16 Viewers)

Moments ago on Inside Training Camp Live... @MikeGarafolo and @TomPelissero addressed the Aiyuk trade rumors. “As we sit here right now, there is no trade in place… but that doesn’t mean that can’t change.”

Jordan Schultz:

Sources: There is currently no trade in place for All-Pro WR Brandon Aiyuk to the #Steelers.

I’m told the #49ers have had discussions in recent days regarding a potential Aiyuk trade with several teams, but as of this post -- nothing is finalized.

Can Pickens handle that though??

Heard Olineman and 2nd rounder. Maybe more picks.

Gotta think that would be James Daniels. The 49ers have a growing need on the IOL and Daniels seems like an easy trade candidate given the Steelers current depth.

Keeping their 2025 first would be amazing.

I mean, there is one guy in the final year of his deal, that the steelers have commented about an issue re-signing ….

Dan Moore, nooooo! 🙃 :ROFLMAO:

(Can't imagine the Niners would have a ton of intetest in Naj.)
I thought he meant Cam Heyward.

He's probably the last guy Khan deals. "Team dad", plus they have, like, zero replacement for him on the field.

Heyward may just retire if he got dealt at this stage of his career.

NFLN is saying Cleveland is the #1 suitor if a deal is made...

What a slap in the face it be if Cleveland gets Aiyuk after all the talk the Steelers were the #1 suitor for him. Still don't like this WR core at all. Pickens is a guy that can have a mental break down at any moment.

Sounds like we got screwed. Deal was thought done. Apparently thought so draft night too …. Daniels, Austin and picks was the rumor.
Rapaport just now saying Steelers are still actively involved.

I can't stand the idea of paying double compensation, salary plus picks. Dislike it for so many other reasons.....which means it will probably happen, got a bad feeling about it going down. I'm sure some of you will be really jacked about it but I hate so much about it.

Aiyuk is not a 30mil/yr WR

Signing him to that inflated price with no QB in place going forward is kind of dumb, especially considering the market for a decent starting QB is now about 35-40mil/yr. Then you have big contracts coming up and Pickens will be waiting for his payday after this season.

Wonder if the Steelers will take a shot at a Hunter Renfrow.. I get he gets banged up, but in 2021 he had over 100 catches and is still only 28. He might be worth a shot at a minimum deal.

Steeler's and 49'ers supposedly had a deal in place during the draft.

Purportedly the Brown's, Steeler's and Patriot's were interested in Brandon. Patriot's are now out Matt Maiocco stated that Brandon n is no longer interested in the Patriot's.

If I was a betting man I put my money on the 49ers. That he stays with the 49ers. The double compensation just isn't worth it. The 49ers are better with Brandon and I feel Brandon is trying to milk the 49ers for a few million more. 49ers have given a fair offer and they still have Trent Williams holding out. With Brock Purdy to be paid next season. 49'ers have 9 players in the top 100 NFL players he'd be a fool to leave for a few millions. Especially when the 49ers have him under contract this year for 14 million and they were willing to renegotiate his contract.

Pittsburgh Steeler's please don't fall into the Brandon trap.

Feels like SF is just jerking us around as part of their Aiyuk negotiations. I hope Omar lowers the compensation to SF. If they can't sign Aiyuk, they can call back. What is offered is 1000 times better than what they'd get in compensatory picks.

Yep. SF should have pulled the trigger in April. Hopefully the 'deal' is getting worse by the day for compensation.

Funniest comment I read on x, "I don't understand how Tomlin can make a trade for himself."

Per Jordan Schultz:

Sources: There is still no deal between the #49ers and #Steelers on a trade that would send WR Brandon Aiyuk to Pittsburgh, per multiple sources. The two sides have spoken, they continue to speak, and the situation remains very fluid.

But as of this post, there is no agreement on all sides.

Steelers have verbal agreement in place for Ayuk.

I believe Poni about as much as I believe I can run a 4.4 40.
I know nothing about Poni, but I believe Rickey.
Rickey knows stuff, got on my radar when he was ahead of everyone else on Ridley going to the Titans. Rumor is he's connected on the agent side and most of the stuff he's been right on supports that.

But IMO while he and his followers are taking a victory lap over this I consider him wrong because he keeps saying a deal is done and it's not done. Because he probably has contacts on the agent side he knows that Aiyuk and the Steelers, as multiple people have reported-not just him, agreed on a contract. But he's off base on the part about SF and Pittsurgh agreeing on a trade. It will likely go down, to close and to much back and forth, but that to me won't mean he's been right calling something done that was not done.

so far today, I have heard Pittsburgh is going to get Aiyuk, but will have to deal Pickens and/or Muth for him.
Also heard Cleveland has offered Cooper and a pick for him, so untilI see one of the teams announce it, I am not believing anything,

Easy pass if those are the requirements. TE is a huge part of AS offense and Freiermuth is performing very well. Besides, SF already has Kittle who is a better blocker and receiver than Muth. Pickens trade is laughable. No way you trade a dominant WR 1 on his rookie contract for a guy who you have to pay 30mil. Single man coverage on Pickens = open.

My guess is Pittsburgh leaked those names to make it appear whatever we actually trade more palatable or the reason why we don't make the trade should it fall apart. Hopefully it's the deal Leroy shared, Daniels, Cal III, and a 2nd. Saw one report of Pittsburgh sending two 2nd round picks with Daniels and Cal. That's mortgaging your future sending 3 starters and a developing WR. I love Aiyuk, but I'd rather keep the picks.

2023 wasn’t kind to Freiermuth.

Yeah, I get it, but I am not sure Muth is untouchable and I am a PSU guy.. Muth really wasn't good last year, and the Steelers drafted another TE last year. I would not say he is untouchable.

2023 wasn’t kind to Freiermuth.

Until Rudolph started and Canada left steelers country, no one looked good on the offense. Targets inside the hashes where Freiermuth is at his best were an anomaly. Don't make me relive those nightmares.

We can disagree on this. Untouchable is a strong word. Would add him to the Aiyuk trade if we get Kittle back too, but not just for Aiyuk. Losing Muth for the season would just create another significant hole. Dumb move.
Freiermuth is a nice receiving TE option for Arthur Smith and no one on the roster is close to him when it comes to running routes and attacking the seam. Last year we drafted Washington and there is a ton to like, but he isn't a #1 TE who you want earning a large target share. He is oversized and loves to block. Looked awkward running routes but getting better.

Bit of a general post - ima typical smashmouth kinda OG guy.

Re: Aiyuk - do we NEED him to make Pickens what we think he CAN be - or will BA jenga the whole damn thing.

Re: D - looks like a good 'rebuild' other than how much is Cam actually worth?

Re: O - Let's hope these OL picks pan out.

I like the multiple additions in places where we were repeatedly exposed to regain some balance.

I read that SF wants a receiver in the deal but are open to other positions. They basically want a starter of some sort as well as draft capital. Draft capital only does them no good this season.

Another "speculation" is an effort for a 3 team trade since Pitt won't give up players. Steelers send picks to team C, team C sends WR to SF, SF sends Aiyuk to Pitt. That would take time if it were to occur.

There is danger in this for SF, because Pittsburgh might just decide to make a deal with team C

True. The further possibility is team C sends a "position player" rather than WR.

Get our first "decent" look at Fields tonight. Or in my case tomorrow since I'll be at work, though I might be able to catch a bit during some down time.

Would you trade Pickens for him straight up?

I think Pickens is going to be a massive Diva. I think It starts this year.. He knows he has 2 capable QB and as soon as he doesn't get the ball he is going to throw a fit.

I'd never trade Pickens for Ayuk straight up. George had 200 less receiving yards in 2023. George is still on his rookie contract. To trade George whose an ascending player in my mind and taking on a potential 30 million a year is not the Steeler's way. Maybe the Browns way and maybe they deal Amari Cooper.

Joe Schoen in Giants hard knocks mentioned something about having a WR on their rookie contract as being ideal for an organization. I believe that's part of the reason they drafted Malik. Malik has the potential to be an elite WR. His current fully guaranteed contract is 4 years for 29.2 million with an 18 million signing bonus with a 5th year option. Brandon Ayuk wants 30 million plus a year.

I would rather have Aiyuk, but not at 30mil/yr. Problem is if people think Pickens won't be asking for similar by 2025, then they're not paying attention. Expect drama next offseason if Pickens doesn't get what he wants.

Aiyuk is a better WR in most aspects of the position aside from highlight reel catches that fans go gaga over. Pickens is a 9 and out route deep ball specialist, while Aiyuk can run the entire route tree, and he can block with the best of them.

By the way, Steelers won't be carrying around 60 mil of salaries tied to 2 WRs for 2025. So if Aiyuk does arrive by some miracle offer from Khan, say bye to George's future as a Steeler.
