You're definitely right about the first two. I don't think Utah would be anywhere near the top of the list for me. The only juicy pick they own that isn't their own is the 2031 Phoenix pick.

It falls under the "good problem to have" category, but I think maneuverability under the aprons becomes a major obstacle. OKC, for instance, is going to have problems building around their top three. This is especially true with the changes that are occurring in the NBA with increased pace and wanting deeper teams. To be sure, young players on rookie deals can help but they usually aren't very good their first few years and it becomes difficult to pay them once that first contract is over. Sure, they have assets to make trades but whose salaries are they going to give back?

Houston can afford new guys more than OKC especially since Durant is likely on his last big contract. They will be missing that top tier superstar though unless Sengun becomes that.

The big question for San Antonio is whether Wemby can stay healthy. I also question the Fox extension but Castle and Harper and future assets would hopefully make for a quick pivot.

I guess my point is good teams can be restricted on how much better they can get. Future assets become less valuable for them while they are trying to be a contender.

It's too early to entirely write them off but it looks like a historical disaster. Reminds me a little of that year that Morey made a huge deal about having 3 firsts with the Rockets and ended up with a bunch of disappointing players (Royce White was one of them).

With Fox's max deal and Wemby's impending max, I don't expect the Spurs will be angling to bring in a third max, not with Castle and Harper in the queue. Not sure Vassell and Sochan (and a pick) would represent the best return Utah could get either.

I’m not hating on the Wolves as they still have a nice team and they will be in the mix—but I really feel like they made a mistake by letting Nickeil go. At the time, I felt like they needed to find a way to let Donte go in order to keep NAW. They are both capable from long range, I think Nickeil is a better defender, I also think that Nickeil is a better “glue guy”. Something just feels “missing” from the wolves this year, and I think that is a big part of it.

Hawks - might be better without Trae, I would trade him if I was the GM.

Celtics - very impressed with the comeback after the slow start. Brown playing the best ball of his career.

Nets - Porter is playing well and they need to trade him. Would like him on the Pistons.

Hornets - should trade Lamelo and move the team.

Bulls - knew they would regress from the hot start, but they are in no man's land.

Cavs - I think they are the best team in the East, but I think the team out of the West would destroy them.

Mavs - complete reset, build around Flagg.

Nuggets - can't believe how bad Cam has been. Give him a little more time.

Pistons - need a legit number two behind Cade. Should be able to make a run to the conference finals as is.

Warriors - the same as last year, if they get the right match up in the playoffs they can win a round at best.

Rockets - probably third best team in the west, could make a run to the conference finals. Have trouble seeing them beat both Nuggets and Thunder in one playoffs.

Pacers - got their pick back, just take a gap year and go back packing across Europe.

Hornets - should trade Lamelo and move the team.

Bulls - knew they would regress from the hot start, but they are in no man's land.

Cavs - I think they are the best team in the East, but I think the team out of the West would destroy them.

Mavs - complete reset, build around Flagg.

Nuggets - can't believe how bad Cam has been. Give him a little more time.

Pistons - need a legit number two behind Cade. Should be able to make a run to the conference finals as is.

Warriors - the same as last year, if they get the right match up in the playoffs they can win a round at best.

Rockets - probably third best team in the west, could make a run to the conference finals. Have trouble seeing them beat both Nuggets and Thunder in one playoffs.

Pacers - got their pick back, just take a gap year and go back packing across Europe.

Clippers - same as Pacers just bring them a wheel chair and extend their rebuild 5 years, minus the pick this year.

Lakers - in a tier with the Rockets, but Luka could carry them to the finals.

Grizzlies - blow it up, time to start over.

Heat - in no man's land. Good enough to make playoffs in the East and that is it.

Bucks - sad to say it is over. Should trade Giannis and start over.

Twolves - good enough to beat anyone, but something is off. They need a shake up. Make a big trade.

Pelicans - need to trade Zion and other vets, despite not having their pick this year. Build around Queen and company.

Knicks- could represent the East. Could use another a third big. Wake me when playoffs start.

Thunder - they are stupid. Probably win 70+ games.

Magic - nice comeback after slow start, sneaky team to win East.

76ers - love Maxey and Edgecomb, hate Embiid and George. Who knows what they are.

Suns - surprisingly good in the west, Gillespie has been 26 for like six years.

Blazers - stay the course, find a coach isn't a criminal.

Kings - blow it up. Lavine, DeRozan, Sabonis, and Monk all need to go.

Spurs - stay the course and if Wemby can stay healthy then their time is coming.

Raptors - ahead of schedule, could make another splash, but I wouldn't.

Utah - stay the course, but move Markennan and Sexton. Could be good soon.

Wizards - trust the process? They should be bad, but not this bad.

That’s a lot of teams that need to blow things up and/or trade their vets. Who’s trading for all these guys, especially with all the apron restrictions these days.

I am just saying what they should do. Doesn't mean it will happen or even could.

Oh I agree with most of it. Just pointing out the issue that lots of these teams might be stuck until the offseason.

I don't think he fits with the Pistons and Ainge sucks to deal with as a GM. Ainge's first offer would be Markennan for Cade straight up.

I would rather pay less for MPJ, or even Sabonis.

Jalen Duren sure looks like he can be that guy. He's playing All-Star level ball right now. And now he's showing ball handling and shooting prowess. If he makes that mid ranger jumper and taking guys off the dribble a part of his regular game, he will be an All NBA player.
