2025-26 NBA Thread: NBA fan tries for 14th time to remember Peacock password (5 Viewers)

Westbrook signs with the Kings. I haven’t been this uninterested in watching a Kings team play since probably 2008-2009. And I obviously have a tolerance for bad basketball. Such a gross collection of players.
Do you think it will be a fire sale at the trade deadline? If so, what do you think would be a reasonable asking price for Sabonis?
Not as long as Vivek is running things but Sabonis could and should demand a trade. I’ll staunchly defend the position that he’s a good player but I don’t think there will be a real market given what seems to be his perception and his salary.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Bulls become interested if their season goes decently. They have expirings to match plus can add some type of first round draft compensation.
Might as well keep shuffling players across these two rosters until some combo works.
Yeah, everyone would joke about it but I could seriously see it happening on the Bulls side. They'll have a lot of cap space next year but I don't really see a good free agency target for them. They have their biggest long-term need at center.

Was there anything more inevitable this offseason than the Kings signing Russell Westbrook?
Bill Simmons said in a recent football podcast that he thinks the Celtics can make a deep run and Tatum might be back late in the year for the playoffs.

That seemed about inevitable as it got for me this offseason - especially after the Tatum workout video.

Wow, surprised to see Brogdon is retiring, per Shams. Seemed like he had a few more years at a productive level in him.
Two players have won both a ROY & 6MOY award. One is Malcolm Brogdon, without looking can anyone name the other one? I had to look it up and would not have guessed it.

ESPN’s Shams Charania reports the Kings have extended Keegan Murray on a five-year, $140 million contract.
Murray, who is set to be sidelined until November, will be kept around in Sacramento through the end of the decade. The 2022 top-five pick is the best defender in the Kings’ starting lineup, and they’ll certainly miss him dearly for the first few weeks of the season. However, it was a smart move to ensure he will be kept around for the foreseeable future. (Rotoworld)

Detlef Schrempf?

Sedale Threatt?

Rumeal Robinson?

Jon Koncak?

Jon Sundvold?

Rony Seikaly?

Dennis Fembo?

Chris Gatling?

Kevin Duckworth?

Matt Harpring?

I expect Steph Castle to start this season, but if Dylan Harper forces his way into the starting lineup, Castle could be a 6MOY contender this season.

Joe Mazzulla is a weirdo.
I wanted to agree with him, but full court defensive pressure the whole game is just too much.
I don't think aggressively curb stomping a bunch of out of shape beat writers with a bunch of ex-college and pro players really builds the bonds that he was going for.
Yeah, and this was supposed to be a media only game initially. Maybe it would be different if the media challenged the coaches or something. The more I think about it, the stupider it seems.

Spencer Dinwiddie was just waived by the Hornets. Wonder where he’ll end up? Rockets? Added depth to the leagues best backcourt Spurs?

Pretty sure sure we're keeping a spot reserved for LeBron (and Bronny too, obvs) in case he's worth taking on once he demands out, so simply no room this guy. Rockets on the other hands are down to 2.3 guards altogether, so that makes most sense.

Saw that too. So charlotte signed him a few months ago then just cut him.

Am I the idiot for not understanding this whole transaction or is the charlotte GM the idiot for a completely wasted signing?

In other words, what am I missing here?

A.J. Green got a 4/$45M extension from the Bucks. In a bit of type casting, it's the exact same contract as Sam Hauser's.

It gives Milwaukee even less wiggle room to put together a 26-27 roster but that's next year's problem.

has there ever been a wider gap between fan and player perceptions of an individual NBA player?

fans hate Westbrook.. his teammates love him and say he's great to play with.

Shams wrote an article about Giannis being possibly interested in the Knicks. However, I don’t see how the Knicks have the assets for such a trade without including Brunson. Maybe Towns could be routed to a third team or something. Bucks would want to blow things up, I assume.

from a cap standpoint, wouldn’t kat straight or kat and a guy like kolek work? bucks would likely want some draft capital, no?
Yeah, something like that is what it would have to be. Bucks would probably want to move Towns to another team. I'm not sure what his market is with his salary so high. Knicks have traded away many of their first rounders. Four for Bridges! Overall, I'm not sure they'd have a worthwhile package to offer the Bucks.

From a Bucks fan perspective, it seems to me Shams has been trying to move Giannis out of Milwaukee for a couple years now, reporting one after another rumor about almost-done deals and such. I get that the Bucks and Giannis may have to part ways at some point but there is no reasonable trade proposal that makes sense between the Bucks and Knicks. They're not going to give up Giannis for a veteran role player on a massive contract. I thought maybe someone like Houston had a shot with some young talent and loads of draft picks to give up for a win-now shot.

For me, the greater concern is that he reportedly moved his wife and kids to Athens ("permanently") earlier this summer. He's a big family guy so this doesn't bode well for a long-term future in the upper midwest. Maybe next from Shams is the Bucks cutting a deal with Panathinaikos.

"Giannis reportedly interested in life without the Bucks"

Shams has been throwing **** at the wall for forever with these clickbait headlines and articles.

at some point, in the relatively near future, Giannis will, in fact, no longer play basketball for the Milwaukee Bucks and Shams will finally be right.

and i took him moving his wife and kids to Greece as more a statement of the current political climate than anything related to the NBA

Based on the reporting, he's not quite a cancer but none of his teammates on the last few teams he was on were sad to see him leave. I actually think he would have been a perfect fit as a backup PG to Fox on the Kings the last couple of years, but throwing him out there with all the other me-first gunners this team has is going to be a trainwreck.

Reading about her for the first time, I was surprised to learn she is an American. I wouldn't have guessed that after initially reading that she would stay in Greece without him. But, obviously, they are free to do whatever they think is best.

 Wikipedia just mentions being born in California and going to college in Texas.

There was a stretch, maybe with the Lakers, where I thought he would be out of the league soon. But my impression is he is much less of a negative since then.

I’m sorry is this not crazy to anybody else
A 4 who can defend and shoot and is 25 years old and never misses games for 16% of the cap is not crazy. Also might bot all be guaranteed, though it is bartelstein, so he probably got it all
Simmons nailed it today when he called it a Patrick Williams contract. Lot of money for a guy who is just a guy.

She's from California. She played volleyball at Rice and took a job with the NBA summer league, which is where she met Giannis (I think).

Weird take. Murray is a better player in every way than Williams.

I guess I can understand preferring to live in Athens over Milwaukee regardless of where you were raised.

Keegan Murray has done ten times what Williams had done when he got that contract

True, UGA football games are the best

What am I missing here? I know PER isn’t the end all/be all but he’s had 3 seasons of PER that were 12.4, 13.3 and 12. League average player is like 15. My point is a bad team is committing a decent amount of money to what is likely not even a league average starter.
