As MeatLoaf likes to remind us ... Two Out of Three (well, really 5) Ain't Bad!
Wasn't interested in Frieirmuth or Gesicki, and missed out on Strange, but I regard Theo Johnson as having significant upside for TE29. Starting TE with no threats to his job, and not much preventing him from having a prominent role in the pass offense. Went for a double shot of TE love with this turn - I would have thought Elijah Arroyo would have left the building earlier....I'm not worried about AJ Barner...is anyone? Although a Rookie, his situation is similar to Theo's ... I don't regard JS-N as a 'true' Alpha WR1, Kupp has to prove to me he's got gas in the tank...Tory Hunter, MV-S...what?
Think I did OK for waiting so long to address the position.
JAllen, CWard
Achane, Conner/Benson, JWarren
GWilson, Flowers, Ridley, Egbuka, Kirk
TWarren, TJohnson, Arroyo
The final 10 Rounds...
15.14: Will Shipley, RB Eagles - ***HARDCORE SNIPE*** committed by
@BassNBrew, taking JWright at 15.13, preventing me from Achane/Wright , Conner/Benson , JWarren ... I might not have drafted another RB if I had that five-some. Curses, Bass!!! Annoyed me enough that I committed a snipe of my own, sorry
@Crippler - in Leagues I draft Barkley, I'm taking Shipley as close to post-halfway point as possible, if there's no other falling value to scoop.
16.02: Romeo Doubs, WR Packers - With 26 D/ST already gone, there was just no value left. Figured at least one would fall back to me next turn, so no point in taking one now. Was chagrined to have missed out on Jayden Reed earlier in the Draft (again, BNB), but I like the 'lesser' Packers WR as later targets in BB formats. Doubs spends a lot of time on the field, and is capable of splashes, which are nice from a WR6. Maybe he gets dealt to the Steelers?
17.14: D/ST Colts - pleasantly surprised that my 'best' remaining D/ST from the remaining 6 fell back to me, but there it was. Jahnke/PFF rank #21, made some improvements and OK for BB format. With elimination not being an issue, I don't care about having only 1 D/ST, but when I actually *try* to go this route, I generally take one with a little more 'oomph' and upside.
18.02/19.15: PK's Chiefs/Falcons - as PK6 and PK18, which shows how many PK went between the 2 picks. Timed the run right, and wasn't going to let the same thing happen to me, as happened with D/ST. High-scoring offense, and Dome-heavy PK with distance foot.
20.02: Jacory Croskey-Merritt - the WFT'skins fan in me had to take a flyer on this Training Camp darling, who looks to have solidified the handcuff role to BRob over Chris Gonzalez (Ekeler/McNicholls are the 1/2 3rd down backs, not BRob handcuffs). Maybe even supplants BRob, who I like well enough as a blue-collar lunchpail guy, but who's ceiling is limited.
21.15/22.02: Jaylen Noel, WR Texans/Dontayvion Wicks, WR Packers: All flyers at this point, so why not insure previous picks, after all, it's BB...now have Kirk/Noel, which wraps up slot production for the Texans, which could be a big deal in new OC's offense. Doubs/Wicks adds to whatever spikes might come from an occasional Love deep shot, I guess.
23.14: Elijah Moore, WR Bills - chagrined again, that both Josh Palmer and Dawson Knox were taken much earlier than I expected them to go, as I was looking for some cheap BB pieces to tie to Josh Allen. I waited and waited for all the news I could glean on Samuel, Moore and the rest of the WR room, and this is what I came up with. Maybe he shows up in a box score here and there.
24.02: Shedeur Sanders, QB Browns - I purposefully didn't take him at 23.14, because I wanted to see what GDCY would do. Thought he might double-up on Rush/Sanders to finish out, but he only took Rush, so with how the SS did in the preseason game, I figured if I didn't take him here, someone else would, so...we'll see. I'm not much of a fan, but I'm intrigued by the possibility, and it's OVR Pick#347.
Final Roster:
Josh Allen, Cam Ward, Shedeur Sanders
Achane, Conner/Benson, JWarren, Shipley, JC-M
GWilson, Flowers, Ridley, Egbuka, Kirk/Noel, Doubs/Wicks, EMoore
TWarren, TJohnson, Arroyo
PK Chiefs, PK Falcons
Colts
The MFL Recap likes my Team a lot, which probably doesn't mean squat. I don't think I have enough 'pop' (ceiling) guys to amass enough points to win, but I think 5th overall is a reasonables goal, (Top 1/3rd).
Good luck to all!
