2025 College Football Thread: James Franklin decides losing big games wasn’t quite enough (12 Viewers)

Knowles is 60 and has only been a head coach at Cornell. OSU has a tough road ahead - I don’t think either side wants that.

I keep reading Zac Robinson but his only coaching experience is in the NFL. I would hire Kinne from Texas State but I’m not positive they can get him. They need someone who has existing relationships with recruits and can bring players in the portal.

Bye week
Kent St
Texas
At South Carolina

I think you reeaaaalllllly want to go 2-1 with Hawkins. 1-2 would be tough to stomach with this defense.

Sorry if this has been posted already. I don't think recruiting is going to be the life blood of these programs for much longer unless we get a salary cap, but I have no idea how that would work.

Texas tech hasn't and won't play anyone all season. Not sure you can read much into that.
LSU hasn't played anyone yet either. They're about to find out a lot about themselves. The O line is going to cost them some games at some point if they don't rapidly improve.

I’m hesitant to post this lest I jinx this weekend’s USC game, but I saw this on X today and found it very interesting. I saw a bunch of pre-season rankings with Jayden Maiava the 9th or 10th best QB in the Big Ten. Four games in (including two conference games), he is clearly outperforming those assessments (currently no. 1 in QB rating). We’ll see if he can continue the efficient play as the competition increases (upcoming games against Illinois, Michigan, Notre Dame, Nebraska and Oregon).

Only one DI (FBS/FCS) player in the last 30 years has recorded at least 1200 passing yards, 4 rushing TD, a 70.0 completion percentage & 0 interceptions through 4 team games of a season:

USC’s Jayden Maiava (2025)

That’s it.

I don't think Kiffin drives a Honda, but there is an excellent show on the ESPN app called "The Many Lives of Lane Kiffin (60 min). I think it was released earlier this week. Kiffin is rather polarizing person. I have a lot more respect for him. Much less respect for Paul Fineman. Although Kiffin and Fineman have had some friendly barbs with each other in interviews the last year or two. It's kind of ironic timing as Kiffin is one of the names mentioned in the internets to replace Napier as Florida seems to be in a downward spiral. (Nothing has been announced for Napier leaving).

I recognize I'm probably walking into a classic Vegas trap tonight, but Florida State -6.5 seems to choice to me to pass up. Would have expected something more like 10 or higher, so this is very curious to me. Should probably walk away, but this is like a Siren's Song to me tonight.

At airport right now getting ready to fly to Pittsburgh to meet up with my brother and friends and driving over to State College tonight. Can't wait to experience a white out game at Penn State. Go Ducks!
Enjoy the game! It’ll be an insane environment all day and night tomorrow. Don’t be shy stopping by random tailgates…most of us are decent hosts around here.

FSU will likely pull ahead in the 2nd Half, be patient
Had trap written all over it, Friday Night game prior to a monster match up next week where the 2nd ranked Canes are sitting back and watching them
FSU might be a little nervous on the road tonight, they'll figure it out in the 4th Quarter

Seminoles will be very lucky if they can come back and take this game
Definition fo a trap game, you just don't want to believe it based on what we've seen thus far from FSU
I feel like if they didn't know that a Miami showdown awaits that this game might look a little different
Great job by Virginia so far

Just like Illinois before them, this will be the easiest removal out of my Top 20 if they lose.

How in the world is that not PI? Dude just turned his back to the football and leveled the WR. Egregious no-call and I'm a guy that thinks PI is way overcalled.
