2025 Detroit Lions: 3-1 Lions roll over Browns (29 Viewers)

NFL squashes local watch parties. The NFL is worried about a local theatre having a party for 2-300 people?

NOVI, Mich. – Emagine Theatres was forced to cancel the Detroit Lions-Los Angeles Rams playoff viewing party at the request of the National Football League.

The Lions and Rams will kick off this Sunday (Jan. 14) inside Ford Field at 8 p.m. But, viewers will have to watch it at their local establishments or in the comfort of their homes as the NFL has prohibited Emagine Theaters from hosting its planned viewing party at their locations.
I don't understand that. Why would the NFL care?

Because if sports were countries, the NFL would be China.
Just did a Google News search and no one seems to have an explanation. So yeah, the most likely explanation is that Goodell didn't feel like he was getting his beak wet
Roger Goodell is a lawyer for the NFL who makes 63 million a year just for things like this. Can't let anyone make even a few bucks if they don't pay the protection money first.

So much greed. One of the playoff games being played Monday night is so screwed up.

Whoever wins that game has a short week to get ready and good chance will be on the road. Real disadvantage.

At this time of year want the best teams playing their best game. But NFL can squeeze out more ratings and higher ad rates.

Lions announce roster moves:
  • Placed CB Jerry Jacobs & TE James Mitchell on Injured Reserve
  • Signed TE Anthony Firkser & CB Chase Lucas to the Active Roster from the Practice Squad
  • Elevated DL Tyson Alualu & FB Jason Cabinda to the Active/Inactive list from the Practice Squad

Jared Goff: Obviously there’s a personal connection there (with the Rams) -- and not just for me, but for a lot of our players and some of theirs as well -- but, no, I so badly want to win a playoff game for this city that hasn’t had one in so long," said Goff. "We’ve got a home playoff game for the first time in so long and that’s so much more important than anything personally for me. I want to be a part of this win and do my job to the best of my ability.”

Watching ESPN and they just put up a trivia question asking which team has the record for longest playoff losing streak all-time?

A: Lions lost 9 straight playoff games

So another opportunity for Campbell and company to rewrite history
Most of those losses I think were on the road

Yes, 8 of 9 were on the road. Lions were usually a wild card going to a division winner.

Yep, here's the Lions' playoff history: Link

Since 1970, they've had 2 home playoff games (1991 and 1993).

In 91 they were the 2nd seed, beat Dallas in the Divisional round and lost the NFCCG to Washington. That was their last playoff win.

In 93 as a wildcard team they lost at home to Green Bay. That was their last home playoff game.

They were a wild card team in 94, 95, 97, 99, 11, 14, and 16.

Wanted the Pack to beat Dallas. Only thing is again GB seems to have found a top tier franchise QB for the next decade. That would give them only 3 QBs in over 40 years is Love continues the way he is playing now.. Unreal..

The last thing I would ever do is root for the Pack, but their holding on is the only path to a hopefully possible second home game. It would be hosting the winner of the Philly/Tampa game.
The team can't think this way but a win tonight should put us on a path to the NFC championship. The way the Packers have looked, not automatic to be going to San Fran. With that said tonight's game is going to be very difficult.

Yeah, no sure things out there, I'm just looking for the best possible path.

Btw game will definitely be on Sunday since they’ll be playing a team that’s playing tomorrow

3:30 Sunday (early game)
Taking the kids to Disney next weekend. Will need to make sure we get back in time

correction 3pm kickoff
Right a couple years ago they switched Divisional Sunday schedule to be same as Championship round. Probably tied to MNF game in wildcard; this ensures they can put any game in either Sunday time slot

Forward down the field,
A charging team that will not yield.
And when the Blue and Silver wave,
Stand and cheer the brave.
Rah, Rah, Rah.
Go hard, win the game.
With honor you will keep your fame.
Down the field and gain,
A Lion victory!

Aidan Hutchinson recorded 7 pressures & 2 sacks on 23 pass rushes in the Lions' first playoff victory in over 2 decades, generating a career-high 30.4% pressure rate.

Hutchinson generated 4 pressures across 16 matchups against RT Robert Havenstein (25.0%).

Impressed with Stafford and how he hung in and handled the crowd, injuries, early deficit.

Lions were fortunate to avoid a roughing call and a pi call in the 4th quarter. They always seemed to have those calls go against them in the past.

Rams outplayed Lions in the second half but were kept out of end zone. Badgely FG the difference and isn’t that ironic.

Fearless Dan always going for the win. A good day for the Lions and us.
