He's the perfect compliment to the other players on the offense though, even if he's not producing big stats. He leaves the middle open for St. Brown, LaPorta, RBs and blocks his *** off. Teams have shown they'd always take the chances with a bunch of underneath passes than giving up big plays.
I agree he opens things up, but 28 million and a top 15 pick is a very expensive decoy and I believe they could very easily find someone else that can block and run go routes that is cheaper. Will they be as good as a deep threat? Probably not, but the money saved and used else where will bring a better return IMO. It isn't like if you take Jamo off this team that ARSB and Gibbs will suddenly become average players. Those guys are top guys in the league at their positions and will continue to be with or without Jamo.
My question isn't his value to the team, or if the Lions want to trade him. It is if Jamo will start throwing a fit if his targets and production stays this low. This isn't the 80s anymore and you take your money and do what is asked. I think if this season continues the way it is going and he is 4th or 5th in the pecking order on offense he will ask out in the offseason or shortly into next year if it continues. I also don't expect the Lions to force him the ball, and they shouldn't. They have one of the top offenses in the league and are one of the best teams.
