2025 Las Vegas Raiders thread - ☠ New innovation on being a **** show ☠ (14 Viewers)

Effing Josh McDonald's era...

"It's amazing," Adams said of playing with Garoppolo again, when asked about their relationship on ESPN LA’s Sedano & Kap. "I love Jimmy. It was never a personal thing, and I was hoping we didn't have to have these [conversations] -- I'm surprised this is the first time it's been brought up. It's been amazing. We got to catch up and get on the right page.

"Obviously, that was just a dark moment in all of our lives. I think all of us were pretty miserable over there. And we kind of caught up and laughed about it and we've been making plays since we've been out here, so it's been fun."

Good to hear on Mayer. I really want to see a good amount of 12 personnel out there and hoping Chip can use that to attack defenses. You can run out of it and then with Bowers and Mayer pass out of it too. A Mayer that fulfills his potential is a tough as helluva matchup for defenses to account for him and Bowers.

Mike Florio: Adam Schefter reporting 'favorable' Chrstian Wilkins story due to agent https://awfulannouncing.com/nfl/mik...-favorable-chrsitian-wilkins-story-agent.html

I am feeling this is probably hitting the nail here. The rumors I was hearing BEFORE Shefty reported was that what happened was so crazy that it was hard to believe and insiders were reluctant to touch it unless they had multiple confirmations.... kissing someone on the head doesn't seem to get to that level to me.

My Theory:

- Wilkins is a noted serial junk grabber, dating way back to college
- Wilkins is a noted kook in terms of his sense of humor
- Wilkins contract had rolling guarantees built in that made it so the Raiders needed to cut him prior to the start of the new league year in early March, in order to avoid his 2026 salary from becoming fully guaranteed
- In Jan-Mar, the Raiders were still hopeful about his recovery
- Since then, it became apparent that he is still not healed, and needs additional surgery to get him fixed for late this season, or at worst beginning of 2026
- He seemingly did or did not do something(s) during his recovery/rehab that either directly or indirectly led to his foot re-breaking
- Without that additional surgery this whole thing repeats next season, with additional rolling guarantees if they don't cut him by early March

- Wilkins refused to get the additional surgery to the dismay of the Raiders
- Raiders took the opportunity in June to void his remaining guarantees
- Wilkins went into passive-aggressive mode around the building as a result
- That included being a ****-wad in meetings, dancing around without a boot on social media, and possibly/probably grabbing junk, followed by an apologetic kiss on the forehead of a teammate
- The leaders of the team - coaches and players - had enough
- The final straw was him filing the grievance against the team for the removal of the guarantees on the last (50th) day to legally do so
- At that point, the team decided the situation was too toxic to keep going and they punted

All of the above is nothing more than gut feeling based on placing limited pieces of the puzzle together to try to form some sort of logical whole. Even if some/all of the above is true, dude was a noted headcase prior to being offered $83 MM guaranteed, including $50 MM in the first two years. That is not a contract you offer to a player outside of your own org, unless you KNOW his character is UBER reliable and won't be corrupted by such monetary leverage. Telesco, AP and Mork absolutely ****ed this one up, even if not as much as Wilkins himself.

Aside from Jeanty, of course, Mayer is the player I am most excited to watch this season.

If Kelly can unlock the double TE situation, this offense has a ton of potential. Shades of Gronk and Hernandez. In a perfect world, Gronk & Hernandez 2011 but 2010 or 2012 would be great too.

Adam Butler had this to say about the Wilkins situation!

“We’ve pretty much just kind of moved on from the situation,” Butler said. “I really don’t want to comment further on it. But I will say whatever you’re going through as a person, athlete, non-athlete, whoever, whatever your struggle is, if you got something going on in life, talk to somebody. Get some therapy, whatever your deal is, it’s your deal.”

“Somebody out there in this world full of billions of people is willing to listen. They’re willing to listen, hear you out, and help you work through whatever you need to work through. Don’t make any hasty decisions. Get help.”

The #Raiders and left tackle Kolton Miller have reached agreement on a three-year, $66M contract extension with $42.5M guaranteed, per sources. The longest-tenured Raider now in long-term plans of new regime.
Mark Davis is probably one of the three "poorest" owners in the NFL but dude isn't cheap.

I know that Wilkins contract looks bad now but that's hindsight IMO. That contract was a calculated swing for the fences (there is zero chance they didn't understand the risk) that looked like a slam dunk win before he got hurt.

And this Miller extension is a great move for the locker room. Play hard for the Silver and Black and get rewarded.

There are very few owners I would want over Mark Davis. Most of the ones on the list, probably all, just kept trying until they found the right football people to run the team. Hunt, Lurie, Biscotti etc. So much better than the Jerruhs and Snyder's of the NFL universe.

Go Mark!!! Keep trying until you get it Right.

I know that everyone harps on how little money our owner has relative to other owners, but the franchise is insanely valuable and has enough money to make these deals happen. It isn’t like NFL teams don’t make insane money.

I did put "poorest" in quotation marks.

A lot of owners get cheap AF, even the "richer" ones. And even with star players who put butts in seats. Jerruh tries every year to go cheap with his star players, and he usually fails to the detriment of the team.

Mike Brown has mostly gotten better but is still drag @##ing with his best defensive player.

I don't think Mark Davis would ever allow that to happen and, if it means a bad contract, in hindsight, every now and then, so be it.

I love how he keeps trying to put the right people, on the field and in the FO, in position to turn this franchise around and he doesn't let the money impact his decisions.

Davis knows he isn't his father and doesn't have a football mind. Most importantly, he doesn't try. He has thrown down hard to get football minds in to run things. We know people will poo poo it (looking at you @DA RAIDERS my man) but he swung hard to get Gruden back in. I didn't like it but he swung pretty hard to get McDoosh too.

I think Davis has courted Tom Brady for a while. He almost ended up a Raider as a QB and I think Davis wanted him to be a part of this organization to help guide it from an ownership perspective after the completion of his playing career.

The value of the Raiders has exploded since they escaped Oakland. He has even bought into other pro sports teams. I don't think money is an issue.

I get WHY he did it. It was still a mistake from the get go. 10 years 100,000,000 dollars. Dude was/is washed. I have no issues with mark. I agree that he does his best to turn things over to football people and not meddle.

Hearing Meredith at C, Powers-Johnson at RG and Parham at LG which is a bit different than what expectations were. Not sure if they are just playing with it or if that is what they are heading towards. Miller and Glaze seem solidified at tackle positions.

Also... interestingly JT Woods getting work with the 1's at corner.

I think it was Adam Butler who recently said that he thinks JPJ is going to be an all-pro guard someday. Maybe he was trying to tell us something.

This is starting to present as a severe mental health issue, which is very sad.

The first thing I heard rumor wise was that whatever happened was so out there and hard to believe that insiders were not going to touch it without absolute concrete evidence for. Then the kissing on head thing came out. Adam Butler talking about getting help for mental illness is not a reaction from someone kissing you on the head. I think Florio hit it on the head that the kissing head sounds like agent spin to me. All the smoke points to a huge fire and not the spark of odd that a kiss on the head would be. It seems evident that something crazy happened and it is so crazy that no one wants to talk about it or go on record with it or even report it. That has to be something pretty crazy and not a kiss on the head.

Maybe he asked someone to invest in a time-share with him.

OMG!!! It's worse than I thought.

Oh yay another huge guaranteed contract we'll be probably be regretting a year from now.
Miller? The new contract makes him the 10th highest paid LT (18th Tackle overall) in the league with a $15 mil cap hit this year and $42 mil guaranteed at signing. Do you really see that as some kind of crazy deal?

IMO it was a great signing. The only place it matters is the locker room and a contract like that is a big morale boost.

Crazy is your word, not mine. I said probably regretting. $42M is too much for someone with his recent injury and performance history. We're hashed this out already and he hasn't been a top 10 performer in a while (ever?). The salaries themselves are fine and I'd have been fine with guaranteeing 2025 money and putting a rolling aspect on the 2026 guarantee, and even extending the guarantee into 2027 money but it should have been conditional on performance. We were set to eat $35M to not have Wilkins play (still might unless we remain lucky) and now we're exposing another what, $15M - $25M next year if Miller has another down season.
