2025 Las Vegas Raiders thread - ☠ Happy trails Derek - one a Raider always a Raider ☠ (4 Viewers)

I will ship everyone in here* a six pack of San Diego beer, which is unquestionably the best beer in the world!

I assume this offer is extended only to Raiders fans in this thread. It is a great offer, because I agree with you about San Diego beer. :banned:
Well, when you call out Maxx in the Raider thread you definitely gain my respect but you can buy your own beer. ;)

Besides my guess is you live in SD, so you have daily access to the America's Eden of beer.

I know people don't like this kind of talk but (I think that is a dated and short sighted way of thinking) if they are bad enough to have a top 3 pick, even in what appears to be a QB poor draft class, they may be able to sell a guy like Ben Johnson on coming here to manage the rebuild.

If it means they fire Telesco and hire Brad Holmes's right hand man, even better.

In your heart-to-hearts you all know something like that would be the best possible, reality based*, outcome of the 2024 season.

*Yes, yes a miracle Super Bowl victory would be better.
I can't see AP and Telesco being gone after just one year, nor should they be, unless the season is a disaster of epic proportions.
Isn't it?
After a week 1 loss in a game they could have won? Not in my opinion. We clearly have a different idea of what a disaster of epic proportions looks like.
That's fair, and I am absolutely being an extreme alarmist and I recognize that. I'm pretty sure that's going to be my shtick in here this season. Please don't view it as coming from a place other than love & fun.

But I think it's fair to say the Raiders have zero shot at contending for anything this season.

I strongly believe they don't even have a shot at a one-and-done playoff appearance. At best they are facing yet another season where maybe their high point will be upsetting the Chiefs late in the season and then watching them go on to win another Super Bowl.

It's getting old. Honey, why sign Christian Wilkins, which is their best FA move in...decades? And then not get aggressive AF to make sure to get a QB that could make them competitive?

I love the new defense but I doubt they are the 2000 Ravens (unless Tyree suddenly turns into what I hope/pray he can be) and I don't think Minshew or O'Connell are Trent Dilfer. Which is a very low bar to not be able to achieve .

Darnit, I want a legitimate franchise QB already. It's been 25 years for goodness sakes. And please don't try to sell me on the parallels between Minshew & Gannon.

So, yeah I kind of view this season as a disaster already.

Sorry, I am certainly not trying to offend. At worst, in my heart I'm trying to maybe stir the pot a little. I'm still ride-or-die Raiders and that will never change.

At the very least maybe my shtick this year will provide people here with something to rail against.

And, if the Raiders post a miracle playoff run, let's say an AFC Championship appearance, I will ship everyone in here* a six pack of San Diego beer, which is unquestionably the best beer in the world!

No joke. I will absolutely back that up to any of you*

*I mean the regulars and who are also Raiders fans (sorry @BoltNlava , @ChiefD etc).
:lmao: sorry but I love beer and I don’t want to disagree because beer is good. san diego the best beer :lmao: sonoma county says hi

I lived in San Diego 2014-2018. At that time, there were more breweries per capita than anywhere in the US, not sure about worldwide. And there are some really great ones: Stone, Modern Times, Lagunitas, Ballast Point, Alpine, Green Flash, AleSmith, PIzza Port, etc. Living in Virginia now, I miss that... we have local breweries, and some are fine, but nothing close to the San Diego experience.

San Diego has been recognized as a premier beer destination in various media and through performance at worldwide beer competitions for a long time. But, like you said, beer is good, so no need to actually disagree.

Seems like most coaches are too aggressive and go too often on fourth down. Pierce is the opposite, he's too conservative
This is what’s weird to me. Didn’t he go for it on 4th down twice in the first half? Aggressive at that point.

And then when he needed to go for it, he punts instead.

Weird.

Defense is for real. They have good receivers. The rookie is a cheat code. .500 team right now? Sounds about right.

They need JPJ to be a decent LG, and get the ball out of Minshew's hands. He can extend plays, but it needs to be in structure. He's not a great decision maker when forced to scramble.

Shore up that Oline and put AOC back in, hes far more accurate and gets the ball out faster with his quick release

Great weapons in the pass game. O line has not been very good at pass blocking and worse at run blocking. Looks like this team needs to pass to set up the run not the other way around.

The injuries concern me WAY more than the game itself . This was a little reality slap , they have to EARN their post game locker room cigar smoking . They showed real heart last season after getting shutout vs Minny and then crushing the Chargers on a short week , this is another gut check , lets see how they rebound vs a tough Ravens team.
I`m not a told ya so guy, but the heart this team has should never be doubted .

Bowers is a legit weapon.
Especially with Minshew and our O-line, they need to shoot for a minimum of 8 targets a game. The success rate is just so much higher, than any other receiver. Screens to him.

Audibles ready to go, for when Minshew gets a mismatch. Plays designed to get one on ones vs LBs.

The only mistake they can make with him, is getting to the end of ANY quarter, and he only had one target in that time.

There should be a play where he is the #1 option, in every series. IMO.

They won the game today with defense, and Bowers and Davante. No running game, no Tucker bombs. A good team, on the road. They get a semblance of a running game, and they can hang with good teams.
