*** 2025 Men's College World Series *** (2 Viewers)

FSU sweeps UConn to be the first to punch their ticket to Omaha. Followed by Virginia and North Carolina.

Tennessee (1-1) vs. Evansville (1-1)

Kentucky (1-0) vs. Oregon State (0-1)

FSU (2-0) vs. UConn (0-2)

Georgia (0-1 vs. NC State (1-0)

Virginia (2-0) vs. KState (0-2)

Clemson (0-1) vs. Florida (1-0)

North Carolina (2-0) vs. West Virginia (0-2)

Texas A&M (1-0) vs. Oregon (0-1)

Am I correct in reading this as the WS will likely be an ACC/SEC only invitational?

FSU, UVA, UNC

GA/NCST, Clemson/Florida

A&M - 1 win away
UK - 1 win away
Tennessee - must win Game 3 (but pre-tourney #1 overall seed)
NC State's win over Georgia makes it 4 ACC and 4 SEC teams.

I looked back at the teams from previous years. This is the only time where it will be only 2 conferences. I couldn't find a year with only 3 conferences.

Friday

1:00 PM CT
North Carolina vs Virginia

6:00 PM CT
Tennessee vs Florida State

Saturday

1:00 PM CT
Kentucky vs. NC State

6:00 PM CT
Texas A&M vs. Florida. I will be in attendance for this one. Do the Aggies have set cheers for baseball? :oldunsure:

As an Evansville alum and with my son going to FSU, we would have been there in a minute if both teams had made it. I actually made some flight and hotel reservations last weekend when I saw the Purple Aces really had a chance to be in Omaha.

Alas, we will just end up watching the Seminoles from rainy South Florida instead via the television.

It's worth going even if your team isn't in it. I have gone three times (all at Rosenblatt) and haven't been able to work it out since it changed venues. I was hoping to go this year but time just ran out as I was suggesting it to my son as his senior trip.

The first weekend is an absolute blast. So glad I had the chance to go a few years ago.

We will go at some point. The atmosphere looks electric every year when we watch. I know that if we don't go this year, I will probably regret it and may have wasted a chance to have a favorite team be there but I think we are passing.

Dang, it snuck up on me. Go UVA!(?)

(people in VA are supposed to hate UVA unless they live/went there)

Had no rooting interest for any particular team, but now it's whoever plays Tennessee. #28 pitcher Combs complained like a spoiled little league brat on every ball called. And they weren't really that close. I couldn't believe the ump didn't throw his @@@ out. He should be more worried about his awful facial hair, it's quite apparent he doesn't own a mirror.

And now Tennessee hitter whining about strike zone singles & turns around while he's running to 1st & says something to ump. How a manager does nothing is disgraceful. Entitled Tennessee cry babies.

Tough call on that check swing for FSU. Thought he went around.

Kid who got the game winner is my dad's friend's grandson. Been hyping him up since he was like 15. Grandpa is the coach of an elite summer team out in Kansas (had pujols before he made it big) and he trained him for this since he could walk.

Ended up working out. They won the game on the backs of insane umpiring down the stretch. Coaches yell because it works.

Yep I guess whining works. Ridiculous not a strike 3 call before the hit. Obvious he went around. What an unlikeable team

Rough year for fsu sports fans.

I don’t think fsu will ever win at Omaha. Pressure is too much at this point. 0-24, oof.

Coach Leo. My son had the opportunity to play for him the summer of 2017 where they made it to the NABC semi-finals. Baseball legend in Kansas.

That was painful man…sorry! Every hates the UT coach in opposing dugouts.
Yea it sucked but college baseball is pretty low on my list of sports to care about so I can laugh it off. That UT coach did seem kind of wound tight.

I am a lifelong baseball guy. Played baseball growing up through high school. Went to college games every all the time. First thing I did every morning was go get the news paper to check the box scores. So I get the whole tradition thing. I really do.

But for the love of God, it is time for robo-umps. Just too many games where the ump has a completely different strike zone from one half inning to the next. Missed calls on the bases to boot. The human element of calling the game fairly is a bug, not a feature.

The first 3 games of the CWS ended in walk-off winners. The 4th game technically didn't, but may have been an even better game than any of them.

Absolutely the most insane opening round to a CWS ever. Just unbelievable.

ETA for those that didn't see it.

Gators trailed 3-2 in the 8th. Bases loaded with 2 outs. Batter gets jammed and close play at first, if he beats it out the game is tied. Throw to first is high. Tall first baseman is able stand on his tippy toes and catch the ball while keeping his toe on the bag just barely like a ballerina by half a centimeter, and the throw beats the runner by half an inch.

Still 3-2 in the 9th, runner on 1st with one out, batter hits what looks like the go ahead homerun, but 6'5" right fielder goes up against the wall and robs him of the go-ahead home run over the wall. That sets up 2 outs with Jac Caglione, probably the best hitter in the country, against probably the best relief pitcher in the country, and with a full count he draws a walk to bring the tying run back into scoring position, before the last batter strikes out to end it.

My Dad played ⚾️ at FSU 1960-63.
Was an all American catcher (& is in the FSU athletic Hall of Fame)

Went to the CWS in ‘62 & ‘63 and came very close to a title back then.

The game Friday night was a very sloppy undisciplined showing by BOTH FSU & UT.
FSU has no bullpen at all and made way too many mistakes
-base running
-catcher didn’t hold onto the ball on tag at home
-pitchers getting behind in the count
-too many walks

And YES, FSU got hosed on the check swing

I was not in attendance for this one. We were in line at 5:30 when they told us the game would be delayed due to weather. Hung around in the area and it kept getting pushed back. Tried hooking up with clients we were meeting at the game, but they were in a bar with what looked like an hour long wait to get in.

Sounds like I missed a good game, but I would have gotten home at 2:00 am.

I kept checking and was going to stay up for it but when the announcement came for first pitch at 1115pm I decided sleep was more important.

Another game, another nail biter.

NC State strands the tying run at 3rd base in the 8th. Heading into the 9th 5-4 with both teams heart of their lineup coming up.

FSU 9
UNC 5……unc eliminated

FSU lefty starter weighs a whopping 154 lbs….. but had a crafty performance & stayed ahead in the count. FSU hitters coming thru up & down the lineup today.

Sets up a Rematch vs UT on WED 3pm ET

Really great fsu team. Would love to see them do it but beating Tennessee twice in a row, one game with your very poor bullpen, doesn’t seem likely.

Florida stays hot, eliminates Kentucky. Gotta get through A&M twice now...

FSU down early (4-0) to Tennessee in game 1 of the Bracket 1 semis. Really rooting for the Noles, both because I can't stand Tennessee and because that fanbase deserves a title after so many years in Omaha. Go Noles!

Missed yesterday and so far today. My "expectation" (and many others) of A&M and TN in the final looking likely.

Still sticks out as the biggest blown call. It was absolutely a strike (showed full intent to swing and did not hold up) and the game was over.

I will be scoreboard watching while at game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals tonight.

Rooting for A&M because I love watching the TN head coach meltdown......such a doosh.

When I saw it live I didn't think he went. It was close but right on the border in real time. In slow motion you could tell he went but at regular speed it was iffy and I could see it go either way.

I know you know but these happen dozens of times throughout a game. Of course this one is gonna get scrutiny but I just don't see it as egregious of a missed call as others. Yes it ends the game but at full speed it's a coin flip to me. Still had him down with two strikes and didn't execute the next pitch. Sucks but there is more to a game then one call.

It ended up being a critical call because he did execute the pitch and I have seen less checks called strikes.

Yes it’s a judgement call. There is no actual imaginary line of where the bat needs to cross.

I just hate seeing a season end because of a clear intent to swing on a blown third strike call.

But that’s baseball.

The NCAA rule is barrel of bat crossing the front hip.

 Schlossnagle gets a bit of a reprieve since this happened right after their loss but still what an *******
I would have to think that would hurt his recruiting trust. That is just a crappy thing to say in that moment. Just be truthful and say you are leaving. It would be much more forthright and you won't lose your credibility that way.
