*** 2025 Men's College World Series *** (2 Viewers)

Sometimes, it’s better to be lucky than good. . .
What a disaster of a last inning for Arkansas. Wow. So many opportunities to finish the game. Just a bunch of bonehead moves and bad breaks by the defense.
Seeing all those Twitter clips/posts about the LF is heartbreaking. He’s a top player for them too, but will have to wear this forever. Sadly shouldn’t have even come to that if the SS decided to turn an easy 6-4-3 DP to end it rather than get the force at third.

Oregon State picked a hell of a time to forget how to play defense and bring the wrong bats. They played lousy defense and were something like 2-45 with RISP in their 3 games. Was really rooting for them as that school could use a big win after all they've been through but was not to be.

Rooting on Coastal Carolina to win it all. Pretty cool to see schools like this competing with the Blue Bloods.
I like to think the Mitch Canham broke thru to Omaha as a coach this year......like Pat Casey did in '05. That worked out pretty well for Coach Casey. Thing is, the incoming recruiting class is LOADED. We'll see how the portal treats us, but so far it's guys buried on the depth chart, or hurt.

You could say Flukey had as good a game as Anderson, 9k in 6 innings, but his offense provided no run support. CC will be bringing their big gun to the mound today. Should be a good one. Hopefully we get a deciding game tomorrow.

What did the Coastal coach just do? He got ejected in the first inning. Seemed like a quick hook. Now an assistant might have just gotten tossed too.

Agreed. It'll be interesting if anything comes out on what was said, but seems like a vast overreaction.
I was lip reading and he told the ump he missed 3 pitches, which was correct. Very bad strike zone there in the first (and more).

Video of the sequence.

Even as a rec/travel ball umpire, I think it was a bit of a quick hook, especially given the stakes. But at the same time, the coach was also getting out of line and did himself no favors - plus we don’t know all that was said.

Agree that, in a vacuum, it was a fast ejection. As you say, we don't know all of the details. Maybe there was an ill-timed "mother" joke or maybe the manager had been riding the ump for a good while.

In any case, I watched more of this CWS than I have combined in previous years and really enjoyed it. I was rooting for CC, but congrats to LSU.

From what the CC Coach has said, the umps issued a warning and he didn't hear why, he came out to ask and they told him it was about arguing balls/strikes which he replied yeah since you missed 3. They ran him which is when he got close and started really arguing with them. From the video he looked like he had stopped moving toward them well before they tossed him. IMO way to quick of a hook.

The best part was the other ump tripping over himself and the main ump and then showing 2 fingers indicating a 2 game suspension for bumping the ref.
Coach's response "I am not responsible for the athleticism of a grown man". :lmao:

I am not sure if there is any truth, but reportedly the home plate ump had been fired from MLB for having "rabbit ears and a quick hook", so of course give him the biggest game of the college world series.

I did not see any of the series so I do not know if there was more, just what was bouncing around social media and the coach's press conference. Which is something the umps never have to do, not matter how bad they are.

Basically any coach at any level knows that arguing balls and strikes is a no-no, although it happens regardless without being tossed. Clearly the CC coach pushed the wrong buttons by arguing balls/strikes among whatever else was said.

Oh for sure. Maybe it boiled over from game 1? Maybe he said that word you don't say to umps. But rarely do you see warnings and coaches tossed in the first inning, esp in games of this size.

Sadly, we won't ever get the umps side either since they do not have to answer for anything.

Was camping all weekend and didn't hear anything about the final till this AM. Looks like the fightin cocks couldn't take down the dirty tigers, and their coaches got kicked out in the process. Dang.

Gotta love LSU fans fighting with each other during a game.....a game they are winning.

Yep, Campos was fired years ago from MLB due to "performance issues."

There's this gem from 2012. https://archive.ph/20130118200242/h...tingly-calls-matt-kemps-ejection-unacceptable

Let's go 'dre!
You're outta here!

If you'd told me going into the finals that LSU would only score in 3 out of 18 innings, and in two of those three it would be a singular run, I'd have said Coastal sweeps them.

Damn impressive what LSU's pitching staff did. They used 3 pitchers combined in the finals. Just wow.

LSU has a long history of producing top notch pitching, but they may have even outdone themselves this year.

That's awesome.
