2025 Miami Dolphins - 1-6, Currently hold the #2 pick in the draft. (7 Viewers)

Skylar has been very impressive. Yes it’s pre-season.....at some point this season.....knowing Tua’s history, we will see Skylar and what he really can bring in a real NFL regular season game or two or three or 5. One thing is for certain....he looks extremely comfortable with the playbook and the speed of the game....like he looks far more relaxed and plays a lot slower (and I mean slower is a great way) than Tua.

To me the first 4 games of the regular season are going to really give us a very good picture of what Tua is or is not. I am praying he has turned a corner in this new offense, with great weapons, a legit OL and a coach who believes in him. HE has so many great weapons now.....the team speed is insane.

Patriots - Should be a win IMO. They are not that good (and bad either) and living off Brady’s legacy. Sorry Bill.....it was Brady. Mac Jones looks pretty good....I just hate the Pats LOL.
At The Ravens - TOUGH TOUGH out. We have never won there.
Bills - Oh boy talk about an early season reality check potentially. We have lost 7 straight to theses guys......7!!!
At The Bengals - Oh boy another early season reality check potentially.

But I am not holding my breath.....and the real reason for that is.....I don’t see him as a leader of men. And if he is not voted as team Captain again by his teammates (he was not a team captain last season which was a huge red flag for me personally)......dudes...that speaks such volumes about how we need to find another guy. How is your supposed franchise QB not one of your team captains? Oh yeah....gotta earn that. Well I hope this summer he did.

Tua looked very efficient last night. And that is what he needs to be. Efficient and taking care of the ball. Just allow your playmakers to make plays. He does not have a big arm, nor great mobility. He is an average NFL QB right now. This is the prove it year to see if that #5 pick was worthy of taking him (still kills me we left Herbert on the board.....freaking kills me all the time).

But again.....I don’t see a great competitor, a guy who lives in the film room, who is checking the tablet after every drive, a student of the game. I hear too much crap about being on the golf course every Monday and Tuesday.....that is what the off-season is for. I still think this is and wa a massive whiff by our front office and this is the year of yes or no moving forward with Tua. And it blows my mind how he was a cult like following down here. Based on what? What has he truly shown that gives any rational fan this air of confidence we have a true elite franchise QB. Like really?

I want to eat a huge plate full of Crow this season.......so show me Tua....show me I am clueless.

I want us to win.....bottom line. Not 9 games, not 10 games.....let’s win 11 and win a post season game....give em hope that this 20 year nightmare and playoff drought (last time I had hope as 2002 with Ricky) is over.

PLEASE!!!!!!!

So fellow Dolphin Brothers.....what will happen down here with a 1-3 start. And especially if we get handled in those 3 losses.....very curious to see how much patience Mike McDaniel has.....because I am sure he was told by Grier to stick with Tua.....Grier has to save face if he ends up being a bust.

I am just curious what takes place down here if we do have another awful start to our season. I really hope.....we don’t.

Ready for Week 1 and yes I am very excited. But man we have been let down every single season for a very long time. It has become a bad habit. Hence my pessimism.

Barring injury I don't see Teddy 2 Gloves getting playing time...

Yes, I'm a fan of Tua. I acknowledge his weaknesses, see his strengths and think that he'll thrive in McD's O

my bet Byron Jones starts on the PUP and Kohou makes the squad. Jones missing the first four would hurt and be especially noticeable in weeks 3 and 4.

Some sad, non-football related news:
Trailblazer. Champion. Kind. We are heartbroken to share that Dolphins SVP of Communications and Community Affairs Jason Jenkins has passed away.
At my old job, we used to work closely with Jenkins. I only met him once or twice, but he was a super nice guy, and I know my coworkers who worked with him frequently respected the hell out of him.

Sounds like they don't know what happened, but it was one of those freak things in a seemingly healthy guy. He was only 47, and leaves behind a wife and three children

Dan Campbell opened his press conference yesterday speaking about him. Has anyone heard the cause of death? I saw speculation it was a medical emergency but "died unexpectedly" is often code for something darker. Regardless, devastating tragedy, my heart goes out to his family.

I have not seen anything reported. I totally get the impulse, but it feels wrong to speculate when the family hasn’t released any info on the cause of death. I remember something similar around NFL writer Terez Paylor’s death last year; as far as I know there has never been a CoD announced for him.

On a lighter note....

Presuming his glass body doesn't shatter for another month or two, what's the expected role for Mostert?
Pure speculation. Edmonds get 2 series, Mostert gets 1. Passing downs mostly to Edmonds. Short yardage carries to Edmonds and the FB Ingold. TBD by 4pm, do they keep Gaskin or Ahmed, or check the waiver wire potentially for a bigger back.

Edmonds looked good on 5 touches in game 2, especially as a receiver. Mostert had 2 carries in game 3, looked explosive on a 26 yard carry.

Glad you're back, you missed Ross getting caught cheating and then gloating like he had been exonerated of any wrong doing.

I have been slow to make much Tua comments, but I laughed hard at the Luau and even going back to the kid gloves that Coach M&M puled out when he was hired, Tua lacks maturity and that has been one comment throughout most of this process. He doesn't love the game of football, he loves a lot of other things off the field and that makes him this dynamic person and al that comes with it but it doesn't help him play the game of football. I see a guy already thinking about life after football, he's already made some decent coin and comes form a pretty frugal background as I recall. The $20-$30M he will make by the end of his rookie deal, anything beyond is total gravy for him, very family first values which is why he has a big fan/cult base.

I see his immaturity on the sidelines but maybe others don't look at the same way. It's the way he holds the towel and looks like he is wanting to slap fives with others, "T-E-A-M!" and it looks silly. I'm not surprised he wasn't named a captain on the team, that alone should make Grier embarrassed.

Let's focus on that Defense which is looking pretty good.
Depending on cuts and Gesicki on the trade blocks, could have over $30M to play with going into Week 1 which leads me into this...

Ross suspended thru October and he cost us 2023 1st Round pick although we still have San Fran''s 1st. I'm shocked we didn't hear form you then. Apparently when they were running a think tank meeting a few years back, Stephen Ross perked up and said "I know, let's cheat!"

Back to the Defense which is returning all starting 11 plus more, the pass rush is looking pretty sick right now, you add that on top of playmakers in the Secondary and an improving LB Corp, run stoppers like Davis who is having his best camp so far, Miami Defense will tough to score on, the Offense might only need about 21-24 most weeks to win.

Let's Go Phins!

Not sure I see Bowden making the team. I'd hoped for more of a Deebo role for him and thought he'd succeed but hearing that both Hill and Waddle will do similar that makes his only real use as returner, a role that isn't what it was.

ETA Guess I should’ve checked the news before I posted.

Such a waste of money on a team that recently has had stacks to burn, shameful his production vs pay.
His first year was rough for sure I didn't think he played poorly last year... I'd have to think back for egregious errors

Bowden flashed some elusiveness in the open field in preseason. I'd rather he return kicks than Waddle or Hill. Bowden also showed some route running skills on that double move TD in game 1. I think they keep 2 of Sherfield, Cracraft, and Bowden. The other 2 bring a little more size. But Bowden is signed to another year, while the others have 1 year deals.

agreed, I liked him and thought he had a role...then they brought in the SF guys. I'm not sure they keep both Sherfield and Cracraft... I think one stays.

There's a bunch of ppl that have returned kicks on the team.

With Lynn Bowden being released before Preston you'd think Grier is working the phones on getting something for the unicorn..
I thought Bowden would make the team. You guys opened my eyes this preseason and camp, I saw someone that makes a nice WR5/6 at the end of the Phins bench, if that guy's your worst WR then you are stacked. The fact he couldn't catch on and make the team saddens me some but also gives a glimpse of how good Miami is right now when talent is being walked out the door because we don't have enough seats for everyone.

Skylar is going to cause a big cut on this team, so far that guy is Bowden but it could be trumped before the day is over. I hope they aren't keeping the Unicorn, Bowden blew him away preseason. Shocking they couldn't work a 6th or 7th for Bowden, someone will sign him quickly is my belief.

2020 4th Rd- OG Solomon Kindley has been released
2022 UDFA-OT Kellen Diesch and Miami paid him a little coin to come to their camp this year. That tells you where the OL is at.

2022 7th Rd OLB-Cameron Goode who I liked watching and hope they put him on the practice squad.
OLB-Brennan Scarlett-Injured Reserve and Rookie Safety-Verone McKinley is gone

OLB Porter Gustin was also released, he had multiple TFL and a sack or two in the preseason, but the writing was on the wall when they signed Trey Flowers. Phins are loading up for pass rush.

OT-Coleman
WR-Cracraft
DT-Benito Jones
DT-Ben Stille
WR-B.Sanders

And that's about it so Skyler is making the cuts easily it seems.
I didn't see Ahmed's name or anything about Myles Gaskin. have no idea how close they are to 53 yet.

Basically, they are there. The UDFA TE they kept likely goes on IR to open a roster spot for someone else later in the day. Phins also carrying too many RBs and TE at the moment (4 RB and a FB; 5 TE I think) so that is likely to change as well. Likely working the phones for a trade partner for gaskin I think.

more than a few of these cuts will come back to the PS. Miami may look for another corner depending.

5'9 205 lb Chase Edmonds is the biggest back on the roster. I figured one of Doaks or Michel would stick since it seemed like shanny always had one bigger back mixed with the smaller one-cut types.

Seems like they're stashing Tanner Conner (TE in question) on IR for a red shirt year so he doesn't get poached.
I'm always a bit confused on IR rules at the start of the season.
Conner is hurt. If the plan is to stash him all year, can't they put him on IR now instead of having him take a spot?
I thought the limitation was that anyone going on IR now is done for the year. Guys who make the initial 53 can go on IR and be activated after 4(?) games. But I am not confident on that.

They kept 5 TE's ?!? Must view Gesicki and/or Conner as a WR.

With Jones out the first 4 weeks corner depth is their biggest weakness imo. They have to be looking to pick up a CB.

And who the hell is Kader Kohou?

SKYLAAAAAAAR “****ING THOMPSON

In my best “Ted” Boston accent.

I just want to to be able to say that all season. SKYLAAAAAR!!!

No in all seriousness.....they found a gem in the 7th round. The kid can ball. And he is the backup plan IMO.....not Teddy.

As far as Ross.....assclown @Ministry of Pain we all know that. Just a turd of an owner.

This is a TE heavy offense. We need at least 3 and are they keeping 2 FB’s? Yep.....because Gesicki can’t block. Hunter Long gonna be break out player for us this season IMO. Love Easy E....great pick. Tindale too at LB.

I will give it to Grier....2021 and now 2022 he has hit on a bunch IMO.....but that 2020 draft haunts my dreams.

We are almost here till kickoff of the 2022 season. Super excited for football. Period. I expect a win opening day vs the Patriots....weeks 2,3 and 4 will tell us a lot as I said and either we will be singing Tua’s praises and what McDaniel has done with him......or cursing him.

The Defense looks amazing but I am very concerned not having Byron. I felt last season he was a lockdown CB. He does not get the flash and pick highlights....he just does his job....really well. Howard needs him as much as Byron needs Howard. They are a great duo. Best we have had since Surtain/Madison.

No worries on the defensive side for the most part.

The running game is a stretch wide zone and we need lot’s and lot’s of speed. Ahmed fits in perfectly as the 3rd back on this offense....far more than Gaskin. Ingold will get a lot of short yardage work IMO.

Excited for the season as well - first time in a long time I sprung for the Sunday Ticket.

Having a college student and the $99 special for Sunday Ticket was a no brainer.

I guess Byron Jones is ranked pretty high for DBs, saw him at 18th overall in the NFL at Cornerback, Howard was #2 and Holland was #7 overall at Safety coming off his rookie year, i expect him to rise further.

I though Igbo looked fine in the preseason and since we spent a 1st on him, I'm OK if they use him extensively these first 4 games. Nick Needham will be the Nickel/Slot shutdown, Howard will lock down his side, Holland will be locked up on another weapon, I don't think it's going to be as bad as folks think plus don't discount the pass rush which will speed things up.

He'll be back in October, hopefully back to 100%, achilles injury doesn't sound good but I don't believe it was a tear.

Ok, so cuts are done, I'm sure there will still be a few moves made but time to focus on week 1. We get grumpy Bill and his merry band of Pats. They have one upped Flo and his 2 offensive coordinators and are going with a no coordinator approach. I'd like to be aggressive on defense and try and take advantage of them trying to figure out how that works in an actual game.

Dolphins SVP Jason Jenkins passed away due to natural causes, according to the medical examiner. A blood clot traveled from his leg to his heart, unexpectedly ending his life Saturday at 47. Jenkins had a history of thrombosis. A tragic loss
As someone who is a year older than Jenkins and was hospitalized earlier this summer for a pulmonary embolism (ie, a blood clot that traveled to my heart), this is a real "There but for the grace of God" moment for me

Looking into the crystal ball...

1:00 start time, 90+ degrees, 100+ with humidity, could be some rain, could be some cramping with players not playing full games, could be some dehydration issues, could be some slippery balls.

-Pats Defense and Miami Defense both pretty good, could be a lower scoring game than we want to believe.
-The play action the other night despite the underthrow by Tua, clean pocket with lots of time, I'll take that gamble with him even on a few underthrows.
-The key for the Phins will be the run defense stopping Stevenson and Harris as well. If the Offense can jump out and do their job with steady ground control plus some passes to stretch the defense, think Miami can put New England into a situation where they have to throw the ball more in the 2nd half.

14-7/17-10 at the half...24-20 Final score, something like that but I feel like Miami can open a lead and then play it conservative. This Head Coach though I must say, wasn't exactly calling the dogs off the other night vs Philly. And he was part of the team that lost to Brady vs Atlanta in the Super Bowl, blew a 28-3 lead so he knows you can never put up enough points, I like that about him and what he already knows. I don't know that he's a "genius" like X.Howard said a couple weeks ago, but he seems confident in his ability to lead this team right now. He's young and I bet the players do take to his ways and mindset. They look more comfortable and relaxed, not relaxed like they aren't working hard but just more confident and methodical in their style and approach. I hope that continues.

Miami -2.5, inclined to lay the points as we move back to September 1:00 games like we had in the 70s and 80s and 90s...teams typically hate to come down and play the Phins in Miami.

Never thought for a minute it was drug or alcohol related, figured something like a blood clot. He was a tremendous front office executive and someone to be proud of in the organization, 3 children and a wife he leaves behind.

Dolphins 23 Patriots 17

Gonna be a hot muggy grind. Gotta win the turnover battle in this one. Tua must take care of the ball and I think we got a week 1 win. And yes I am laying the 2.5 points.

Bill at it again, trying to get access to the Dolphin playbook before game 1, just like last year with Malcolm Perry. How did that work out, lol!

Actually, Bowden is a legit NFL WR, imo. And he can return kicks.

>>Patriots signing Lynn Bowden to p-squad, per @FieldYates .. Continues rich history - and grand infiltration scheme - of Patriots plucking jettisoned Dolphins before the teams play.<<

One of the first people I thought of when Bowden left here was Bill in New England who is still WR thirsty IMHO, they have Parker, now Bowden, they've had success with ex-Miami WRs ala Wes Welker, why wouldn't they keep bringing them in for a week or two and try to get as much of their playbook as possible.

If Bill wants to see the playbook he can simply look at the offenses in San Fran and I think our OC came from the Chargers but i could be wrong. It's gonna have those kind of plays in it.

Is it possible that Chase is going to be like an Ekeler of sorts in this Offense? That would be something.
Frank Smiith was the TE Coach and then running game coordinator(Ohhhhh I like that) and OL Coach before Coach Mike hired him as the OC. Now I can tell you from observations in the preseason that our Head Coach is the one calling the plays, that looked obvious to me.
I like it, he's going to make Miami a dynamic running football team with a lot of weapons to hurt you when you try and stop the run. Some of those weapons are going to make huge holes open up on this OL.

I am so jacked for the Patriots coming to town. Feels like we really are the favorites this time around.

I'm confused, you like our coach now? You seemed to have dropped the petty/cutesy nicknames you've been using all Summer and now are "liking" that he is calling the plays.

I'm interested in the OC they brought in, definitely was not for his dynamic and innovative pass attack which is why he won't be doing the play calling but what he has done is revamped the OL and made us a better blocking team overall, was very apparent in the preseason and the reports on these scrimmages is Miami dominated from beat writers on both teams.

-I'm skeptical of Coach M&M but I also don't want to create a negative vibe on every post about the Phins. We know they ain't done squa-doosh in 20-25+ years, last AFCC was almost 30 years ago and it was a blowout at the hands of Buffalo.

Booth commentators drive me nuts...as an example last night at the US Open I must have heard about Serena's age, motherhood status and the word "fitness" must have come out 50x at least which is code for her being chunky. They should have called the match they were watching which was played at a high level with the No 2 ranked player in the World going 3 full sets and over 2.5 hours, be in the moment, and I said all that to share this...It's only fair to give this team an opportunity and to try and enjoy the ride. What if they succeed this year and make the Playoffs?

-And that's why i have been posting about how Miami can actually get under the cap with over $30-$35M to spend with just a few cuts and if they wanted to trade Gesicki...I think they should be trying to go all the way to the Super Bowl, THIS YEAR!!! They fudged off their 1st round pick this year when the owner was caught cheating so forget the future, it's now or never.

What does this team really need? If they had $30M+ to go shopping and head hunting I would make a move for Kareem Hunt, he would explode in this offense. Maybe one more playmaker for the secondary since Jones is going to miss at least 4 games and perhaps longer. An aging OLB/DE that can still rack sacks just so we have it? There's not a lot of places you can add someone unless they are an immediate impact player, there's a reason Jesse Davis is now a Pittsburgh Steeler plucked off waivers by a desperate team in need of an OL, that guy started down here at LT and RT for the last 3-4 years? He's HORRIBLE!!! That was our best guy for a long time.

I couldn't agree more on all accounts... even with the Serena stuff.

We are on the same team @Ministry of Pain and it's been a roller coaster of an off-season. Although I respect your knowledgeable and articulate posts, I guess I'm just trying to be more optimistic heading into the season. You have to be aware of how negative a lot your Dolphin's posts come across, even when you're being honest and saying what the other fans might not want to admit.

I have a lot of the same reservations as you coming into the season. Will Tua be able to make the next step, now with a better O'Line and better weapons, will he be a leader, will he have the time to throw it over 35 yards and will he be physically be able to? Will the Tyreek investment be marginalized? Will the RB's make it through the season? Will the defense be the same without Flores?

I was in attendance last Saturday at Joe Robbie for the 3rd preseason game and I know The Eagles were missing a lot of starters..... but the Dolphins dominated the game on both sides of the ball, all night. It great first play call by Coach McDaniel and it was the play we all were dreaming of seeing ever since #10 was signed in back in March. The crowd was bigger than I anticipated and the place went nuts. We led all night and there were huge holes for the RB's to dart through. The defense played like they can win us games on their own, played with confidence and swagger.

It's September 1st, our team has a waiting list for season tickets for the first time in decades and our franchise quarterback has finally earned the respect of his teammates to be voted team Captain for the first time in his 3rd year. Lets take it week by week and hope we can stay positive. I think 11 wins is within the realm of possibility.

Love...love who our captains are this season.

Most importantly.......Tua was voted on and named a captain and received the most votes by his teammates. That is a big thing for me.

I think Tua needs to play within himself and the scheme. The offense is clearly built around his best attributes. Short and medium passes that come out quick. Lot’s of movement and play action boots and throwing those layups on the run. He needs to make 95% of his layup throws and we will be lethal. The one thing Tua is on those short and medium throws is accurate.

I am excited. I am positive. And I want to see us have our best season since 2001 when we beat the Colts and Peyton Manning in the post season. Dudes.....that was our last post season win.

Let’s go get it.

As a guy who doesn't like to hurt both his wallet and his heart I don't draft Dolphins players.... for the first time in recent memory I ended up with 3 Dolphins, all value picks below ADP.

How about y'all?

No Dolphins on my team in a 14-team league in Miami. Drafted players include, Hill, Waddle, Tua, Edmonds, Sanders, and the defense.

Hill went at WR 10, 3.02, right before I selected Mike Williams as my WR #1 at 3.03. Waddle was WR #30, 6.01. The locals, including myself were spooked by his non-specific injury, which turned out to be a quad, and wondering if Tua can support 2 top 20 WRs. Edmunds was RB #28, I picked CEH as RB# 24, expecting Jones to be cut. Tua was QB #16, I selected Wilson as QB #8.

Sanders was PK #12, I picked Carlson as PK#3. The Phins defense was #12, I selected BUF as the #1 defense.

In our league, there is a fee for drop add, and players dropped can't be used again. So not much streaming.

Hill went WR4, Waddle WR25, Edmonds RB29, Mostert 39... Tua QB17. Neither Sanders nor the D went.
Hill at WR4 seems rich, an optimistic homer view. But with Waddle's quad injury (unknown seriousness) Hill could have a good start to the season.

Sanders problems last year were in part related to poor holds, and in part to Flores opting not to do long FGs. With a much improved offense, and slightly better defense, Sanders has a good chance to be in the top 10, I think he was top 3 in 2020.

agreed, Hill was a big reach but more inexperience than homerism. I too am skeptical Tua supports 2 top WR. Waddle was my choice in the 6th as my 4th WR.

Sanders does look the part again, but not sure the defense is any better.

Knowing it's a long season and questions won't get answered in week one...

In the first four weeks.., What are you looking forward to finding out? said differently, what questions do you hope to get answers or the beginning of answers to?

HOw's MMcD in-game management/ Time out/challenge flag usage and half time adjustments.

Is the OL is fixed or at the very least adequate.

I'm looking forward to seeing offensive gameplanning. RB utilizations. Seeing the FB usage. etc...

Do we see much of a jump by Tua in these first 4 weeks? What does that jump look like?

Will we see the end of last year defense or beginning?

How's the secondary look without Byron Jones?
