2025 Miami Dolphins - 1-6, Currently hold the #2 pick in the draft. (10 Viewers)

Ryan Smith from PFF-Dolphin is a reality check on individual performances. Some grades were obvious if you saw the game as a fan. Tua, Hill, Ingold, and Waddle did well. The oline was good overall (combined run and pass blocking) for Armstead, Williams, and Hunt. Major concern at RT (Little) and LG (Eichenberg). Versus the Bills good pass rush, that will be a big problem for Tua and our passing game. Maybe newcomer Shell replaces Eichenberg at LG - he's had 2 consecutive PFF grades in the 20s.

Thanks for the info SBD, I don't put much stock in PFF rankings but you're absolutely on the money that they will have their hands full with a Bills front that is SPICY and doesn't need to blitz to bring pressure.
I think Eichenberg is taking a lot of heat, one of those TDs that was off a bubble screen, he pancaked a defender inside the 5-10 yd line to help spring that play.
Little didn't lose the game, Von Miller will school him this weekend on Tua's blindside but Tua has fast quick receivers that can turn short gains into larger ones, I'm optimistic Miami shows they can hang with them for a while.

I still haven't rewatched the game... hope to do it tomorrow.
Still chewing on those 3 big plays...
When's the last time X got smoked like that 75 yarder? I know Micah Hyde was the last return in 2019. Sadly the Dolphins haven't had an answer to a dual threat QB in a loooonnng time.
Let's hope that they clean that up

Let's temper the expectations with the Bills coming to town this weekend. They are just trucking teams right now, so my hope is Miami makes it look respectable. We likely really only need to win one game vs the Bills this year, and it will be the third one that we play them (hopefully). Miami's D is starting slow again this year, mainly bc our starting corner is out the first 4 games. That will be an issue vs the Bills. The Bills D is solid and their pass rush is strong right out of the gate, so my expectations are tempered. Still, a hot and humid sunday with Hill and waddle running all over the place could make for an interesting 4th quarter again, but If Tua comes out of this intact and Miami looks like they can hang I'll call that a win.

Edit to add: when we saw the schedule we figured Miami for 2-2 or 1-3 to start the season. At this point we are in gravy time. Any win the next 2 weeks is bonus time.

It's only a matter of time until somebody in that backfield rips off a long run. And I still think they should try and get another dynamic playmaker in the backfield.
Mattison and Hunt who I prefer, both have to be available. Cleveland just gave $230M to their QB, they can't pay Chubb and Hunt, Lamar asked nicely for a trade so I hope they give it to him.
Someone that compliments the 2 toys at Wide Receiver we have.

Getting a little tired with R Wilson, so I picked up Tua Time as a second QB. His WR's are just too good, and DEN scares me now. Tua > Russell this week. What do think of Tua, MoP? I'm going low end QB #1 now around 10-12 with some weeks better than others. I just don't see him run that much to vault him up another notch. Speaking of running, not seeing Russell take off like he used to either.

It was fun as a Chiefs fan watching the 4th quarter of that game.

That is EXACTLY why you go out and get Tyreek Hill. He did that repeatedly for the Chiefs - guys have to chase him around all game and his fitness is so good that by the 4th quarter the secondary is gassed. Add Waddle to the mix and it's no wonder the Dolphins blew up like that. The Ravens were cooked.

All Miami has to do is keep it close through 3 quarters, and then you guys have a real distinctive advantage.

I will also say that the trade with the Chiefs really turned out well for both sides so far. The Chiefs had to get younger and Tua needed that extra weapon. The Dolphins are fun to watch for sure.

Saw a stat the Ravens DBs ran over 6000 yards
will update when I find the source.

Armstead B+ and I would agree
Eichenberg C- and I quote "he pancaked a defensive back into oblivion on the 6-yard Jaylen Waddle TD reception early in the 2nd quarter." I give him a C+ right now and that's the pancake i was talking about after the game when Eich got some low score from PFF.
Williams B- Just a simple B would have been fine. He's mauling, I'm buying into it.
Hunt B+ Agreed and he's still maybe their best OL, when Jackson returns this side should look strong.
Little C+ He's doing good work out there filling in and gaining lots of experience. He will get owned vs Von Miller this weekend.

Greg Little-RT/OT, let's talk a little more on him.
37th pick overall in 2019 from Carolina if you didn't know that. He's a bust in general when you factor in that draft spot but that was Carolina and he doesn't work there any more.
Last year Miami traded a 7th Rd pick for him 2 years after the Draft. He ends up on IR by November and we were like 1-7 at one point last season?

-He blocked in high School for Kyler Murray, started all 3 years on the OL.
-He was a 5 star recruit and the No 2 OVRERALL prospect by Rashan Gary class of '16-ESPN
-He chose Ole Miss over scholarships to Bama, Auburn, LSU and he was set to join Murray at A&M where they were recruited together but he backed out last minute, went to Ole Miss.
Little has not been healthy in the NFL, most seasons he ends up on IR, that's not promising. But he has the pedigree and I hope he nails down the position and Jackson has to wait his turn or earn the spot back when he returns.

I've heard this sentiment from some smart film watchers.

One more thing to add... he played much differently before and after his ankle after he stepped in. If he can get healthy before Jackson can come back we may just see this unfold.

CB Dane Jackson will be out as well. So Buffalo will be down at least 4 key defenders (already have been without CB Tre’Davious White). Rookie CBs Kaiir Elam and Christian Benford expected to start at CB vs. Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.

Bills HC Sean McDermott says S Micah Hyde and DT Jordan Phillips are OUT Sunday vs. Dolphins. Both huge losses for Buffalo D going against Dolphins offense.

No question for me. Its Allen Lazard, Romeo Doubs, and Christian Watson vs a good TB defense instead of Tyreek/Waddle vs 2 rookie CBs and 2 backup safeties.

Would love to see the Bills/Phins rivalry return to relevance. Kelly vs. Marino back then was fantastic, now Allen vs. Tagavailoa has a chance to become just as important.

New England being irrelevant for a decade would be the icing on the cake.

Same here. Brings back bad memories of Dolphin LB's chasing after Thurmon Thomas - they never did catch him.

I don't want to be the rose colored glasses MoP but by gawd you all are going to have a good laugh at me at some point because I'm almost in hook, line and sinker, it's been too long and I'm starving and I so desperately want them to win. I could pick apart so many things but why? It's House Money this week and Buffalo is being kind by not having much of their starting secondary ready to roll in the heat, humidity and Tropical Storm/Hurricane awaiting in South Florida.

Can you imagine 3-0? It's hard to even comprehend but we better start thinking about the impossible because the AFC East is on the line this weekend, Miami seems to have a slight advantage in the passing game and both teams are challenged getting their RB or running game rolling. Who can run the ball when it matters might be the difference this week.

-Message to the Miami Dolphins...try making last weeks 4th Q this week's 1st Q

Miami's starting CBs: Jones is out until week 5, X could also be out or not 100% with a groin injury. Miami could start UDFA rookie CB Kader Kahou and Nick Needham, another player who went undrafted in 2019. Kahou has played great, but he hasn't faced Allen and Diggs. Needham is better at nickle. Next up would be another undrafted player, journeyman Elijah Campbell, and 7th round special teams ace journeyman Keion Crosson. All are better than our 2020 first round pick Noah who was burned by Diggs in 2020 when called into action, and hasn't improved since then. This could be a high scoring game.

Agreed on the over. There's enough of a chance that I placed a fun little +1600 wager on Tyreek and Waddle to get 300 yds 3 TDs combined.

I don't bet on Phins games but couldn't pass up this cheeky prop

the Dolphins beat a hobbled Bills team, no lie.

However it’s a Phins team with a brand new coach… one that seems suited for this new NFL.
( from someone who moved to Liberty City in 71)

And you thought the Buzz n High last week was beyond, oh my!

i know they were depleted and we were lucky to be in the game but it went a long way for this team to beat another quality opponent and prove they belong.

Was very impressed seeing the final score but saw none of this game. Later seeing the stats all I could think was....fluke.

Don't wanna take too much away from this though. I thought if they could keep it close and competitive it would mean a lot for this young up and coming team...and they certainly did that! Congrats Phins fans! I'll be rooting for them (until/unless they meet Philly in the final game of the year! ;) )

IDGAF if anyone thinks the Dolphins win was a fluke or earned... Allen should've thrown multiple picks in this game and that didn't happen. The Dolphins D was on the field for 20 more minutes than the Bills D. In the end, both teams were sub optimal, the Dolphins won and move on to the Bengals
