2025 NFL Coaches on the hot seat & Front Office changes (1 Viewer)

I'm not a fan of coaches being fired before the end of the season, and Rivera is so likeable that it makes it seem more brutal. I do understand there are benefits to it for both the owner and the HC being fired, but I'm still not a fan of it. Tepper said he knew he was going to do it, and didn't want to go behind Rivera's back looking for a replacement. I guess at least now Tepper can openly search, and teams know that Rivera is available (if he wants to be). I think Riverboat Ron will be a desireable hire for some teams this offseason. I said in the Panthers thread that he is the best HC we have ever had. A change of scenery does do a team and coach good sometimes, so I hope that is the case for both. I hope the culture remains good for the Panthers, cause Ron has always kept and held a great culture there. Anyway, I have a lot of respect for Ron. I hope he is successful wherever he goes.
And what does Tepper know about finding his next head coach? From what I've heard Tepper wanted Rivera gone almost as soon as he bought the team. He is a hedge fund guy and he couldn't wait to put his big Wallstreet Beak into the team's operations and I'm scared he will start weighing on draft picks. What qualifies Tepper as being an expert on the NFL? Did I miss where this guy is All World at running a professional football team in the NFL? All he did was buy the team...a lot of businesses fail when their is "New Ownership"

Plus this guy might want to familiarize himself with the Rooney Rule, he can't really jump the gun on hiring anyone and this isn't the NCAA and a rush to recruit HS football players before Christmas, everyone is on a level field int he NFL, many times you have to wait until almost the Super Bowl is the hot OC/DC is on a strong playoff team so i just don't buy that this hedge fund wizard is smarter than anyone else in the NFL. I also think he made a KNEE JERK reaction like a little baby who got his butt by the Skins who still have quite a fan base in North Carolina which is a stone's throw from D.C. and he felt embarrassed and wanted to take it on someone, why not the guy you're going to fire anyways, right?

This was a rookie/newbie owner move that usually doesn't lead to a lot of long term success, we'll see what happens but so far this owner is not showing the patience needed to earn a Lombardi Trophy anytime soon, IMHO.
A little over 3 years ago I posted this about Tepper and my opinion of him has not changed at all

Some of these guys have a decision to make if it's even worth coaching short term once they are let go. Matt Rhule is owed $34 million by Carolina. He could have easily sat on the sofa and rolled in $34 million the next 4 years. For literally sleeping, playing golf... whatever he wanted to do. He chose to get $72 million from Nebraska for 8 years. So the CAR payments essentially go away.

Gotta tell you ... $34M to do nothing vs $72M to go coach an abysmal team and grind from 6 am to midnight .... I'd have sat at home. Now the better plan than even sitting at home is go to NEB, get fired after 2 seasons, and pick up $72M for 2 years of work.

Too bad 99.99999% of us will never see a guaranteed contract. Seems like a sweet deal.

. The talented play-caller goes from Dak Prescott to Justin Herbert, a quick move after his departure from Dallas.

Herbert owners rejoice. I always liked Moore and thought he was good for DAL which I hated. I think DAL takes steps back with him gone now offensively.

What were his other options?

Didn't seem like other options. I'm thinking it's more or less He saw an opportunity and through the grapevine heard if he was available he'd have the job. Ether way who wouldn't want to leave to have an opportunity to coach Justin Herbert. This move more or less if @Cowboysfan8 is right did ask for his release seems more like Moore knew he'd get the job once he was available and decided to move on from Dal.

Mike McCarthy is apparently taking over as playcaller so I'm sure Aaron Rodgers texted or Called Prescott to tell him he's sorry for his loss. At the end of McCarthy's reign in GB Rodgers and the entire offense was going rogue on McCarthy for play calling

49ers GM John Lynch said he will continue to serve as the team's general manager in 2023.

Lynch had talks with Amazon to become an analyst for their Thursday Night Football programming last offseason. A deal never materialized and Lynch decided to return to the 49ers. His current contract runs through the 2024 season, though an extension could come as soon as this offseason. Having led the 49ers to three NFC Championships and a Super Bowl in the past four years, no one deserves a new deal more than Lynch right now. The only thing keeping him from re-upping with San Francisco for years to come is the allure of a cushy job on TV, though that won't be happening this year.

NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reports the Colts could hold a third round of interviews with potential head coaching candidates.

The Panthers, Texans, and Broncos have already settled on their new head coaches, while the Colts do their best to turn the process into a marathon. As Garafolo points out, a third round of interviews would be a pared-down list of finalists who received a second interview. The Colts have held second interviews with eight different coaches, the most recent being Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn. Interim head coach Jeff Saturday is still considered by many as the favorite to land the position, but with the team appearing to vet all options, it's possible a new leader in the clubhouse emerges.

The Athletic's Jeff Zrebiec reports the Ravens have held two interviews with Wisconsin OC Bobby Engram for their offensive coordinator vacancy.

This one has flown under the radar throughout the coaching cycle, but the Ravens holding two interviews with Engram is fairly significant. A 14-year veteran of the NFL, Engram was with the Ravens from 2014-2021, serving as their wide receivers coach and tight ends coach. He took the job as Wisconsin's offensive coordinator last season but is more than familiar with the staff and player personnel the Ravens have in place. Given his relationship with the team, it wouldn't be surprising if Engram emerged as the eventual lead candidate for the team's offensive coordinator role.

Sean McDermott has to be on the hot seat now right? Losing to the MILF hunter in week 1? How far is that organization let allow Josh Allen to regress before they make a change?

For the Chargers, they haven’t fired Brandon Staley yet and I’m not what else it will take for the change to happen.
