1. Atlanta: Okay, I don't love the idea of a historical coach like Belichick roaming the sidelines for a franchise devoid of real fans or much history, but Arthur Blank is a good owner who actually cares. He's been looking for a winner and nearly had one (the 28-3 debacle with Belichick on the other side). The roster is middle of the road and without a competent quarterback, but they have the means to sign a veteran QB or make a move in the draft for one of the top prospects. The line is solid, and they have weapons (Bijan, Pitts, London) and a decent offensive line. That would allow Belichick to concentrate on his favored side of the ball and get that Shula record in two seasons. Of the current openings, this one feels like it's got the best shot of happening however...
What about the Dallas Cowboys? Yes, Mike McCarthy has done an excellent job with that offense, and this feels like the best Cowboy team in a long time. But if they lose at home to his old team, the Packers, this weekend, what happens then? Does an aging Jerry Jones, who has admitted he doesn't know how many years he's got left running this show, send McCarthy to the unemployment line and scoop up Belichick, someone he's had a great relationship with and who Belichick has gone out of his way to praise every chance he's gotten? In reality, this job is the best case for Belichick. Prescott. Lamb. Parsons. Diggs. Yeah, he'd have to surrender any notion of shopping for the groceries, but he could catch Shula quicker, and that's a real Super Bowl contender.
(Philly could be another surprise opening. They've vomited on their shoes the last six weeks, and if they get beat by the Bucs, I rule nothing out. East Coast. A chance to play the Giants twice. A short flight to Nantucket. Not too shabby).

I think I've said a few times I did not see a Belihick to Dallas marriage or that I'd be very surprised. Not anymore.
Barring a comeback McCarthy is done. I know they've always liked Quinn but when you under perform like this I think Jerry might just want to scrap the whole regime. Would no longer surprise me. In fact I'd be surprised if Bill and Jerry don't at least talk and see if they think they can make it work.

Still a 1/2 to go so McCarthy can still save his job...if not this is (and has been) the perfect spot for BB...he has a great relationship with the Owner/GM and the roster is very good (I'm sure BB has LT dreams about Parsons)...due to those two things this is the one spot (Philly could be another...I have heard him speak very well of Howie) BB would be willing go to and just be the HC which is best case scenario for him and the team...the fact it is one of the flagship/legacy franchises is another plus for a guy who knows the history of the NFL as much as anyone.

We have a lot of openings in the NFL and coaches are retiring, leaving, parting ways with long time tenures in the NFL including Belichick and Carroll both over the ages of 70. Belichick is already being spoken about as potentially having suitors. I don't remember anyone wanting to interview Don...

- 525th man to be named Head Coach in the NFL.
- 28th black man to become a HC, bringing the current total to 4 (Tomlin, Bowles, Ryans.)
- The NFL was 56.4% black in 2022 (latest year I could find data.)
- Doing better at the Team President (6) and GM (8) level. It was only a few years ago there was only one black GM.
- There are of course no black majority owners, nor has there ever been a black owner. Seven black individuals have minority positions but it's unclear how much power they wield.
- The NBA had it's first black owner in 2002 (Robert L. Johnson, founder of BET, who sold his position in the Charlotte Hornets to Michael Jordan in 2010.) After 13 years, he sold the team last year.
- I'm not certain but I believe those two are the only blacks to ever own a North American sports team?
- There are nine (9) black billionaires rn, 6 of whom come from the entertainment industry.
- As of 2023; there are 756 billionaires living in the United States.
I love McCarthy staying in Dallas. If they can keep Quinn that makes for one of the strongest 1-2 coaching tandems in the league.
This isn't like Philadelphia where the team looked to quit and the coaching staff looked lost and incompetent. They had a bad game at the end.
And yes, the soft division is a factor. But if you fire Mike McCarthy, 25 other coaches probably should be fired.

Eagles reporter Eskin on Sirius said meeting Friday with Lurie, Roseman, and Sirianni. He expects Sirianni back but anything could happen. They're meeting about discussing coordinators and assistants.
Lends to a guess there will be Eagles openings to follow.
Their highly regarded OL coach was said to do a poor job and owned it so he expects he'll return.

If BB were to take the Falcon's job, you've gotta think he's made assurances that he'll have a competent QB in the mix. I don't see him wanting to get into basically the same situation down the stretch he had with the Pats.

I think it may be more about power then the QB position...IMO one of his flaws is he thinks he can win with a simply adequate QB who doesn't turn the ball over...he was in charge of personnel with the Pats and there was no urgency to upgrade that position...he had no plan the first year without Brady and while he used a #1 on Mac he did not trade up to get him and he easily could have missed out on him and after that the only thing he did was add Bailey Zappe...if he goes to Atlanta it will be real interesting to see who his QB and OC is...McDaniels did a good job with Mac his rookie year but when he left BB put Patricia in charge of the offense...the only thing more head-scratching then that is it has been reported he really wanted to bring him back for a second year until the Kraft's got involved...someone mentioned Jimmy G and that is something I can definitely see...just not sure I can see him putting in time to develop a rookie QB.

You are right...I actually read this as the Lions OC...why the hell would this guy get an interview.
