2025 Philadelphia Eagles - Bleak Friday (44 Viewers)

At least we got a good CB1

Quinyon Mitchell is the most targeted player in the NFL (71 targets)

He's allowing the lowest completion % in the NFL (43.7%)

Best and most reliable player on the Eagles.
#Eagles

The Bears defense entered today's game ranked 29th in success rate.

This was the worst performance by any offense against them all season.

I fully expect a new play caller by next game.
Bears fan checking in. Yesterday it seemed like the Eagles running game was solid but maybe not spectacular. Barkley was routinely running for 4-6 yard carries, but it felt like there was a level of impatience with this - without Barkley breaking off long runs, the Eagles "had" to turn to the pass, regardless of the weather conditions.

Had the Eagles committed to the run, I think it's a much closer game.

This is from Johnny page from BGN this morning

Watched the Eagles' Offense this morning, and it's incredibly clear to me that they started attacking the intermediate middle of the field when chasing the game.

Vs. the Bears, Hurts was 4/5 for 64 yards.

This ENTIRE season he's 14/21 for 250 yards 1 TD, 0 INT.

I've seen enough film on Hurts to know that he CAN throw to these areas but the offense barely ever asks him too, unless they are behind.

This is a Hurts AND a coaching problem. They must be more aggressive. He can do it.

I’d have said take this with a grain of salt as McLane tends to over sensationalize a lot of stuff but Kempenski already mentioned this on Friday. The coaching staff was on board with this decision.

In his latest podcast, @Jeff_McLane reports that he heard in the offseason that Jalen Hurts did not want to run as much this season because of the two injuries he suffered running the football.

While understandable, it has limited the effectiveness of the run game and the offense overall. If Hurts wants to be a pure pocket passer, he has to be markedly better than he has been

Running qbs success have been down this year. Look at L Jackson in Baltimore.

Eagles TE/FB Cameron Latu was on the field for five snaps against the Bears in Week 13.

Philadelphia finally passed with Latu on the field, which led to two notable gains.

Jalen Hurts on three passing plays with Latu on the field:

3/3 for 43 yards and two first downs

For ALL NFL fans, you should check this out, terrific find and thanks for posting this
I woulda never seen it, incredible breakdown of what's likely going on during multiple plays and not just that one single play call

How much is coaching and how much is the poor OL play as to why the Philly offense is below avg right now?
They’re all related, IMO. One is typically a product of the other.

Here’s another play and from a different angle. When a strength like this turns into a weakness it’s a recipe for disaster.

The play designs and blocking assignments are poor. The OC refuses to believe Calcantara (81) can’t block.

Do not fret kids!

13-4 still wins the division. Maybe not the #1 seed but, not bad at all!

If they can put together 5 straight wins to close out the regular season they will be hard to beat in the playoffs!

My optimism knows no bounds!! Do NOT count this team out yet.

True but that doesn’t mean a QB run automatically equals a QB hit. We completely abandoned the RPO look and it’s been awful

Also, when a run is called and you need the points you have to go! Look at this play. Hurts has to be better here. It’s blocked up for the QB draw and looks like he had it. He decides to pass, has Goedert open and holds the ball. This all can’t happen. Hurts was pretty damn bad on Friday.

There’s been a few reports of this and it 100% passes the eye test. The lack or RPO’s and QB runs along with the way he looks running (he’s so timid) makes this all seem legit.

If this is true it might be time to make plans to move on. Im a huge hurts guy but if hes choosing to take away this huge chunk of his game already I'm out.

Philadelphia Eagles senior personnel director/advisor to the general manager Dave Caldwell is leaving the Birds to become the Florida Gators’ general manager, according to a report from Pete Nakos of On3.

Caldwell originally joined the Eagles in 2021 after being fired as the Jacksonville Jaguars’ general manager. He was first under the title of “personnel executive” before being promoted to his current description in 2022. Former Denver Broncos vice president of player personnel Matt Russell was also hired to the same “senior personnel director/advisor to the general manager” title that year.

The Eagles then re-hired their former vice president of player personnel and former New York Jets general manager Joe Douglas earlier this year. One would think Douglas will help to fill the void left behind Caldwell.
It seems like Howie Roseman really values having some former top decision-makers on his staff. Considering the Eagles’ front office success in recent years, it’s hard to blame him.
While it’s impossible to parse through exactly what Caldwell contributed to the Eagles from the outside looking in, the team won Super Bowl LIX during his tenure.
Now Caldwell will try to find success in the college ranks. Being close with Florida alumnus Howie Roseman probably didn’t hurt his chances of getting his new job.

It also doesn’t look good for his “all about winning mentality.

There’s also been reports of hurts asking for certain things taken out he isn’t comfortable with but he succeeds when they are run like under center passes etc. page put out they used the middle of the field and he seems timid to make even the slightest risky pass and from what he watched they were lower risk high % plays he had too.

One of the biggest head scratchers of the Sirianni era. I know he likes to be hands off but he needs to intervene here. It’s not like they even use Calcantara in the passing game to justify him being on the field.
One theory floating around is because he’s best friends with Hurts from their Oklahoma year. He probably insist that Grant plays. It seems this team is so worried about screwing up at QB again and hurting Jalen’s feelings where he goes the route of Wentz and asks for a trade or something. That’s the only thing I can come up with in all of this. They know they handled the Wentz/Hurts thing wrong and are desperate to not let it happen again. You need to have a happy medium though if yes and no to your QB. Both need to be able to communicate and compromise stuff.
