2025 Philadelphia Eagles - Tush Push receives a stay of execution until May. (7 Viewers)

Howie Roseman says CJ Gardner Johnson did a great job for the Eagles but he said trading the safety is part of a bigger picture of having 8+ players making $15 million or more. He says to keep all of those players and to keep the Eagles good draft picks from the last three years, they will need to sign them to long-term contracts. He says he is excited about the younger players that will be given a chance to play and he thinks they will do well.

"Right now, he's on our football team."

Sirianni, Roseman address standing of tight end Dallas Goedert, both stopping well short of ensuring he would remain on the roster moving forward.

Prior to utilizing the tush push, Philadelphia had a ton of success with Carson Wentz utilizing quarterback sneaks.

From 2016 to 2021, Wentz converted 47 of 53 quarterback sneak attempts for a first down.

That’s a success rate of 88.7%. Philadelphia’s success rate on the tush push was 81.2% last season.

They’ll continue to be aggressive and efficient in short-yardage scenarios regardless.

That 81.2% includes when the Eagles used the tush push for greater than 1 yard (think 3rd and 2). If you eliminate those attempts, they were at like 98% conversion rate on the tush push.

Eagles will likely get rid of Dallas Goedart if they can’t rework his deal. Ej Smith if Inquire believes if he’s not traded he could be released if a contract isn’t reworked

Basically unless DG restructures his deal he’s gone either way

Eagles showed interest in recently traded QB Joe Milton before Dallas got him
Not surprised since Hurts needs assistance to get over the goal line. Time to look at other QBs that can maybe do it w/out needing half the offense to push him over.
Hey, look who's here!
You new around here? I never left.
No, just anticipating your patented brand of Eagles thread-crapping.

So, just to be clear, all you want in this thread is zealot-like blind obedience to all things Eagles?

I'm here to help provide clarity. Think of me as the James Randi of the Eagles thread. Help me, help you. :)

Can't blame Goedert for standing firm. I don't think he deserves a raise, but he'd be crazy to take a pay cut. He would have multiple offers in hand the moment he is released.

Goedert is gone IMO. He shouldn't take a pay cut and he is definitely underutilized on this offense. Not anyone's fault but just by dint of talent on the offense he is like the third or fourth option in the passing game. There are quite a few teams I can think of where he'd immediately step into a 1,000 yard season. If I were him I would put the kibosh on any pay cut talks and if they cut me, they cut me. I'll be signing a fresh deal next week.

ETA: I should add that I think that is a big negative for the Eagles. He is light years better than anyone else on that roster when it comes to catching passes, YAC, blocking, etc. I know they have a baker's dozen at TE currently but you can't rebuild him in the aggregate. He would be a big loss for this offense.

I'll be honest, the more this off season progresses I'm more and more convinced that they are not reloading for the repeat but rather taking a longer-view approach to this team. They brought back the band in 2018 and it didn't work. This isn't to say that they won't be competitive, but with all the talent bloodletting, I think its obvious Howie is preparing for the future-not reloading for this year.

Eagles will be drafting a TE, not worried about losing Goedert.

I think Howie is attempting to reload for next season while shifting priorities about who they are willing to pay. He knows that their recent string of draft success stories means several lucrative extensions are on the way. Goedert is still a very good player, but his offensive role no longer justifies his contract.

Goedert is like the 3rd or 4th option in the passing game, you can get 80% of the production from Calcaterra at 10% of the cost.

As a receiver, maybe, even thought that's a stretch. But Goedert's value int he running game is not anywhere near replicable by Calcaterra, or any of the TEs on the roster:

Eagles run game in 2024 (EPA/rush):

With Dallas Goedert - .163 (1st in the league by a mile)
Without - .057

This right here. DG is an absolute FORCE in the running game when he is out there. The Eagles are a MUCH better team when he is in the lineup. Bc his blocking is just so underrated...yet so great at the same time

So I'm seeing a lot of "Eagles might be forced onto Hard Knocks"

I thought playoff teams were excused?

But if not, it sure SEEMS like the NFL wants to Ban the Tush Push, then make money on the behind the scenes reactions to it from everyone in the Eagles Org.

Am I wrong??

I want the see the offseason Hard Knocks with Howie and crew working their magic.

Sounds like a good business decision by NFL.
Seems like that is all Leagues, Teams, and Players care about now, are good business decisions.

I guess if the Eagles generate RATINGS and all, lets go.

Aside from guys like Bowers and Pitts (year 1 anyway), you can't really expect to rely on a rookie TE for production. Of course, they don't really need to "carry the load" here but I'd like to have someone we know can be productive (in the run game too) when needed.

it goes back even further. Was having aneurysms during the Packers/Eagles games which he claimed was fixed from the start.

Regular Season OT 10 mins if first team scores a TD other team gets to possession of ball as well
The only time I can really remember this bothering me was that Chiefs-Bills game where they couldn't stop each other and Allen didn't get a chance.
I like the rule change. Do you think anyone would actually DEFER in OT now? Just spitballing but seems like that might be the move now.

1. Other team doesn't score, all you need is a FG and you win.
2. Other team gets a FG, you know exactly what you need to win or keep the game going.
3. Other team gets a TD (usually game is over), you still have the shot to get the TD and keep the game going.
