I assume that a lot of guys in those top tier locker rooms don't like each other. How could they? An assortment of some of the biggest aggressive egos in your country.

Tensions fray when you're losing or feeling like there's no hope. There is no hope, and they will almost certainly be losing, with Mason Rudolph as the QB.

I'm personally all for it. I think the team needs a complete reset.

Anyone else not give a plug nickel what Tomlin is saying at these owner meetings? Seeing all those reporters surround him and wait on every word is hysterical to me. The dude just blows smoke. Some big fat guy looks like he fell asleep sitting right beside Tomlin. Pittsburgh sports media is like F- quality. Would like to tune all this BS out until pick #21 at the draft.
Sadly the Penguins and Pirates are awful, and offer little distraction.
 
I like Rodgers going to the Steelers. I’ll especially love it if they go 11-6 or 10-7 or something like that. Then I’ll get to hear about it the whole second half of the season during Jets telecasts and through the broader sports media while Fields gets mauled weekly behind the Jets’ offensive line.

Yes. I’ve decided this is the likely result of all of this. It’s great being a Jets fan.

Almost a foregone, failing a couple bad injuries.


Their defense is still probably too good, and the overall competition still middling enough, for Tomlin not to "work his magic" to eke out 9 wins.

Theyll miss the playoffs, but national sports media/local loyalists will throw him a parade/laud him for "making chicken salad out of chickens ****" anyway, never once considering a) he is heavily involved in collecting the ingredients for said **** salad, and b) chicken salad is disgusting regardless.

I think the talent is immense. The only player I'm really worried about is Jones and I'm not even that worried. Feel like his injury impacted him and he regressed last year. If he's the biggest worry among the starting OL I'm not that worried.

On the two issues you rightly bring up. The depth is zero. It's one of my bigger concerns on the entire team, a few injuries will torpedo the whole operation. It's unfortunate, we built up strong depth, it got plucked, we get back a 3rd and 6th for it but a little surprised nothing was done to address it. They been so committed to the OL the last two off-seasons I just have to hope they got a plan but this is playing with fire right now just as much as what they are doing at QB-which at least on that they have a target.

On the coaching. I'm torn. We all miss Munchak who IMO it's either him or Shazier as biggest losses to this franchise in the last 10 years. I'd have liked to see us get aggressive for a guy like Doug Marrone this off-season. But I do wonder if we are not giving Pat Meyer a fair shake? It's easy to look at Jones regression and blame him, I do it sometimes. But he's the same coach who also got two rookies playing well enough to be thrust into starting roles and I feel pretty confident saying would have been 3 if not for Fautanu's injury. Again, maybe Jones regression had to do with trying to play through an injury.

I would much rather have Fields because of potential development, but if you take what they did last year. Arod by miles over Fields and I am a Fields guy

I don't really think there was a regression. First, Jones wasn't good as a rookie either. He made some highlight blocks, but his play mostly was bad. There was also a switch at OC and a new blocking scheme that he is probably not well suited to.

He was an incredibly risky pick. He had played very little football before being drafted. He was drafted on athletic potential. Those picks have a very low success rate at T. That being said, tackles are very slow to develop in the NFL. They generally aren't to their potential until year 4 or 5.
 
I dont think you can be more wrong on the assessment of their OL. It should be pretty solid this year, two first rd OTs, Jones back to his normal LT position, a 2nd rd C who was great in his rookie season and 4th rd OG in his 2nd yr, with Seumalo at the other OG, and they will likely add a depth piece in the draft. I agree the OL coach is weak.
Rodgers with DK and George is a nice group.
I assume DL is pick 21, they DL is really thin(Cam and Benton). After that could just be BPA, including QB in any rd 3-7. I wouldnt be against Riley Leonard in like the 6th rd, and have him as a QB2 in 2026-28. Would never have to worry about him being a jerkoff, will show up and put in work.
They are getting 4 comps picks in the '26 draft. Get thru this year, draft well, and do whatever is required to get a QB next year, and it doesnt NEED to be Arch.

I have actually warmed a bit to the fact it will likely be Rodgers. I wont like him, the person, but he seems to be the best chance they have for any success in 2025.

I do think the OL is a big issue. I have huge concerns at both tackle spots. I still think Fautanu is a G.

I don't know that Meyer is terrible though. I think he did a great job with Moore. He should get some credit for Frazier and McCormick playing well as rookies. As I said above, Jones has plenty of bust potential that has nothing to do with coaching.

Rodgers can get the ball out fast when needed. That is one of the reasons to sign him
 
Keep in mind Steelers lost James Daniels, Nate Herbig, Dan Moore Jr, and possibly another. So depth could be an issue
 
Steelers do not believe in rebuilding, they will spend close to the cap every year. It's frustrating since the Pens seem to have the same mentality, but I can at least respect it.

I am still not sold on the dude who is shaped like a Lego person as a starter either. I think McCormick likely tops out as a really good depth IOL that you can feel okay about if you're forced to play him for a while, but I don't think he'll be a guy you're rolling with as a reliable long-term starter. He's not even close to as good as Daniels was when he was "right." Especially as a run blocker. The two former first rounders have got to "hit" or they are pretty much boned.

I guess that's a long-winded way of saying "I wouldn't begrudge them for drafting more OL this year at all. Even early." Given what the top thirty visits have looked like so far, though...doesn't seem to be a top priority. They need a lot of things at the moment, and can't address them all in one draft, I suppose.
 
Its pathetic they only have 6 SBs, this franchise. Really. I wish they were a competent. They clearly don't know what they're doing. I mean, they don't even have as many Lombardis as Tom Brady. For real, what a joke of an organization.

If I was as good at my job as Tomlin has been since 2011 (3 total playoff wins, all against backup QBs, and only 2 seasons out of 14 with at least 1 playoff win), I'd have probably been fired.

The standard for NFL head coaches isn't regular season success other than in Pittsburgh. He's been living off his first 4 years of winning with the core of talent he inherited ever since.

And the narrative that it's only been since Ben retired is BS, because Ben was still in his prime from 2011 to 2018 and still very productive in 2020 after his injury in 2019. So, the Steelers won a playoff game in only 2 of Ben's final 10 seasons.

You have a HC who, in his last 12 years, barely had over a .500 winning percentage, won his division just twice, only made the playoffs in 4 of those years, and only won 2 of those playoff games. He obviously should have been fired.

In the sports world we live in, probably - a world where the most successful coach in the history of the league was fired last year. But it had been 6 years since Bill won a play-off game, so.

Grains of salt, but I am hearing that they actually do not like Dart or Milroe. The like Slough, but have concerns there too. Maybe all of the Dart talk is a smokescreen to get someone to trade with them?

I'm sure every team who likes those 3 QB's has concerns on all of them, which is par for the course really for most QB's not drafted high in round one. I like Slough and he'd make a lot of sense if Rodgers ends up spurning us but they will need to move around, don't think they can sit in round 3 and get him and I'm assuming 21 is out of the question.

I'm representing the Steelers in the FBG mock and the Browns and Giants did not draft a QB and Dart was available at 21. I tried trading back, specifically targetting those two teams, and got rebuffed. Hope in the real world scenario they have better luck, trading back is the way IMO.
 
Top 30 visits are worth paying attention to this time of year. I like that they are doing their homework on QBs especially Sanders and Dart who might tumble on draft day naturally. Have to know ahead of time if the team would take them should the board fall the right way. Position list notably OUT on TE (supposed to be a strong class) and OL this year after heavy investments the past 2 drafts. Losing 2 starters typically necessitates a replacement for depth, have to see what Omar has up his sleeve.

I cringe seeing Kyle McCord on that list. He is absolutely awful. And if they draft a RB in the first, they deserve to finish at the bottom.

I'd much rather have Levis for a 6th than Rodgers or a QB in this draft for a 4th or higher. They're all a wash and that's the lowest cost.

Have not seen any full rankings like I have in the past, but it sounds like Harmon or Grant in the first. They don't have a first round grade on any QB other than Ward. They like Shough, but maybe in the 4th, where he won't get to. Maybe Howard from OSU.

Watt will get his money.
 
More sadly, is the Steelers have no plan at QB, Rodgers, Milroe, Dart, Sanders, Howard, Shough, Leonard, you can list any QB in the draft. Plus Rudolph. Its a complete mess. And that draft class in 2026 that was so special, now looks a bit different if Manning stays at TX and that Nico kid goes down the toilet. Steelers havent hit a QB pick hit since GW Bush was president, and it probably wont happen this year either. But better hold onto Watt for $42M a year!!!!! 🤮

I took Harmon and Slough for the Steelers in the FBG draft though I don't see Slough making it out of round 2, less yet making to round 4. But I obviously see the rationale in why they'd be interested in these players.

I now believe as of today that unless a team drafting behind us moves up that Sanders will be available at 21.Small chance the Saints take him but I don't think so. Sounds to me like you are suggesting they would pass? I'm good with that but that's super risky if they don't have an agreement for Rodgers or at least Cousins in a trade.
