Guy in the other semi final just dropped Indy for Cincy. I'm trying to grab Indy now. Hopefully none of the league mates that are out put in a bid. It becomes awkward when people do that.

Had grabbed Indy last week for this matchup, but now it's a tad less desirable without Levis throwing the ball away for pick sixes. Think I'm leaning BUF vs NE.

My opponent has Buffalo. I have Arizona against Carolina currently.

Who is your killer, can't miss, must have DST for week 17?

Mine was going to be LAC that I was going to start over MIN in the league I'm still alive in, because they play NE that week, but giving up 40 to TB the other day has me questioning things. I'm looking elsewhere and would love the sage advice this thread offers.
Most of them aren't available at this point.

What are Denver folks doing this week? I picked up Indy, but I’m leaning toward sticking with the Broncos. My general rule is to take the great D with a bad matchup over the mediocre D with a great one. And really, are the Chargers that bad of a matchup anyway?

I picked up Green Bay vs New Orleans for this week. Tomorrow before gametime, I will most likely waive Denver so my playoff opponents cannot pick them up for the Thursday game vs San Diego (Denver doesn't normally score as high on road games - even though they are solid). Then their final 2 games are Cincinnati and Kansas City. If my opponent wants to take a flyer on them in 17 or 18, they have more guts than I do. So that is THIS Denver owners plans.

My opponent has DEN and just picked up ATL...and I hope he plays ATL.

I'd start DEN. Herbert is a little banged up, the TB D just had 4 turnovers, and LAC can't run the ball.

Last time they played (in DEN) DEN D only had 3 sacks and gave up 23 points (4 points in my league). I get that Herbert is banged up, but on the road, DEN scares me a little, especially a divisional game. As opposed to my other 2 choices...NYG give up the 4th most points and TEN gives up the most points to DEFs, and they have both been consistently bad. And ATL and IND both play at home.

I picked up Indy because they play the devastated Giants in week 17, to add to my week 17 DST options.

So now my week 17 trio to decide between if I make it to the finals will be:

Minny vs GB
Indy @ Giants
Chargers @ NE

This is the only time each season I will hold three defenses, not only to have good options, but to block my opponents.

Debating Denver who has really done well for me vs. Green Bay vs. NO. The matchup analysis person inside of me says GB.. the dance with the one who got you to the semis guy says Den

Aren’t the Broncos banged up defensively?

i don't know, i don't follow that closely.. just know they've had some nice pick 6 numbers the last few weeks.. good pointage

GB will cook Minny

I agree, and that’s my impulse for picking up two other defenses when I already have Minnesota. When Min played GB in week 4 the Minnesota DST finished way down at #12 that week.

I don't love Denver this week. They played LAC in Denver earlier this year and scored 4 points. This game is in LA. Surtain twisted his ankle in the last game.

While I appreciate the "Stick with the girl that brought you to the dance" sentiment, I'm not going to stick with Denver.

Once we hit the fantasy playoffs, we see all kinds of nutty things happen. NFL teams commit to tanking the rest of the way. No point in bringing guys back from injury. We see a lot of lousy backup and 3rd string QB's.

Those QB's are more reliable than any particular defense. Target them.

CIN, DET, IND, or HOU this week?
I think it's mainly between Indy and Cincy.

We've seen Rudolph be quasi-competent with Pitt. He has a career 25 TD's and 16 INT's in 26 games played. DTR has played in 12 games. He has 1 TD and 7 INT's. I think he's probably your best target of the 4 QB's.

Yeah, there's no right answer. It really just comes down to philosophy: Do you emphasize the defense or the matchup? I tend to go with the former.

I still remember back in 2012. I had picked up the Seattle D early, before anyone even knew the phrase "Legion of Boom", and soon realized they were one of the best defenses we had seen in awhile. I had them in the semis when they completely laid waste to the Cardinals, scoring like 50 points. The following week they were playing the Bills on the road. I completely overthought it and decided they were much worse on the road than at home. So instead I started Detroit, who was playing the same Cardinals that had just been destroyed by Seattle. Only problem was, Lions were in freefall, and would end up losing like their last 10 games of the season. Meanwhile, Seattle had a pick-six and put up a ton of points vs. Buffalo. I lost my semifinal matchup.

That's my origin story on why I prioritize the D over the matchup

I did the same. I have Den@LAC, cin home vs cle, tb@dal, Indy home vs ten. Cincy just feasted on ten last week. But now now levis. Will Rudolph be better? No Winston in cle. Den on 4 days rest. I guess lac 4 days rest too. Lol. Dal playing better than they were when I picked up tb for this game. I’m torn……. Lol

I've got DET in my local, who I have had since early in the season. They have been decent, but the injuries are really depleting the defense, it seems. I'm sure there's a chance they could get a defensive score against CHI, but there are some solid options on the wire. Do any of these stand out as obvious adds to replace the Lions?

IND vs TEN (not sure Rudolph is much better than Levis, and TEN is near the top in sacks allowed)
CIN vs CLE (new QB)
ATL vs NYG
LVR vs JAC (or vice versa)

Thinking CIN or IND with the Colts having another nice matchup next week, and CIN coming off a game with a defensive score (should have been two).

Thoughts?

I would rank them this week as Indy, Atl, Cin. The LVR vs JAC isn't even worth ranking.

If Ridder starts it's worth ranking for Jax. If it's AOC though, I'll pass.

All I'm saying is that I wouldn't trust either of those two teams in the playoffs.

Absolutely. If better options are available, you take them. But if it's Jax against Desmond Ridder, you could do worse.

I cut them after I secured the Week 15 bye in my playoffs and picked up Green Bay also. And Indy (stashed for week 17).

I have the Colts and Bengals. Picked up the Colts expecting Levis, I think Rudolph creates a substantial downgrade for the Colts DST. Bengals DST on a roll and seem to feast vs bad teams, think I'm going Bengals.

Going ATL over CINCI.
I never like an inner division game. I can see a lot of garbage time yards and scores
I've had Buffalo pegged into my lineup for most of the week but do see that Atlanta is still available and may pivot to them. Especially if I find out I can drop Kamara and add another defense, because there isn't much skill position available on the wire that moves my needle.
