Probably the biggest "difference between mock and reality" pick here. Love it though, he'd quickly become my 1.04 pick if it happened.Wow, I thought for sure Seattle was taking Wells here after those trades were made and he was still on the board.BTW, I love the moves you made.1.23 Chris Beannie Wells, RB, The Ohio State UniversityI don't know that the Patriots would make this pick given the circumstances or if they would be trading it but this seems about where Wells needs to come off the board. I was thinking that Pettigrew would be the pick here given Belichick's penchant for mauling TE's who can catch. So this pick was made based on value, Maroney's uncertainty (there is age in the legitimate RB depth as well) and the possibility that he would go here but to another team.
yep...off until 9am est tomorrow.Clock is off until morning, right?
good job today all.![]()
We got through a lot today. Thanks to everyone who is participating.Wow no, no, and no. If Stafford is there then there WILL be an offer on the table for them to trade down. If they are forced to pick I wouldn't be shocked to see them go Raji. However, since the OT's won't go 1/2 then KC will be drafting an OT.1.03 KANSAS CITY CHIEFS AARON CURRY LB WAKE FOREST
If you are only going to have one pick in in the first two rounds, you mind as well get the guy who many feel is the best player available in this draft. With a little bit of a surprise happening and Stafford not being taken by the Lions, this pick was fairly easy. One of the OT would have been considered, but only for a moment. Let's not kid ourselves, KC needs an immediate impact player on defense and Curry is that guy. The Chiefs have upgraded their offense so far this offseason and have done so a little on defense as well. However, the signing of Vrabel and Thomas is not the long term solution and the Chiefs know that. Curry is considered by many to be the only true "can't miss" pick in this draft and KC is happy to get him with the 3rd pick. He is considered the best defensive player in this years draft and KC obviously needs help on the defensive side of the ball. Give me the best defensive player in the draft and I'll be happy. This pick was mde even easier due to the fact that the Chiefs do not have a second round pick.
There weren't really even any other considerations with this pick. As an oganization, KC and their fans should be very happy with the direction this team is heading. Adding Curry to the mix tops it off.

I can't disagree with this more. They drafted Albert last year and he's their LT of the present and future. Especially since he didn't cost them all that much being the 20-whatever pick.IMO, of course.Wow no, no, and no. If Stafford is there then there WILL be an offer on the table for them to trade down. Yeah, hopefull we can get some in tonight but no big deal either way. I'll check in periodically.People can still pick, I assume.
Technically, it's the second bigest woodies over LT's - biggest woodies are still over QB's.I had a few offers for Seattle's 1.04 with Stafford there, took the Jacksonville offer to not drop too far, and got to do the same thing with Sanchez.I can't disagree with this more. The biggest arguments happen over QBs. I can't remember the last quarterback that everyone liked.Further, like I said in the last draft, I can't remember the last skill position player (except Calvin Johnson) that everyone liked - QB, RB, or WR.Technically, it's the second bigest woodies over LT's - biggest woodies are still over QB's.I had a few offers for Seattle's 1.04 with Stafford there, took the Jacksonville offer to not drop too far, and got to do the same thing with Sanchez.I can't disagree with this more. You are right about that. I kind of think the QB's still give the woodies - it's just that differnt teams get woodies for different QB's: it's like preferring the blonde/brunette/redhead cheerleader. They all generate woodies, but each appeals to those who prefer a different type.LT's are like the really cute girl in the mall - still a woody, but less fantasizing. The biggest arguments happen over QBs. The only OL on their team who has a future secure beyond 2009 is Alberts. They lost several QB's last year due to poor QB play. The shotgun was as much a symptom of the OL as an indictment of Thigpen under center. Don't know that living in KC makes me a homer but I've been on record for awhile that it will not be Curry. The absolute worst-case for KC is for OT's to go 1/2 and then not be able to find a trade partner.I can't disagree with this more. I'll agree with you more if they move Waters. If that happens, I agree that OT is the much more likely pick. The good news is that they probably can't make a mistake. Another tidbit from KC is that if Tony G is indeed traded then don't rule out Crabtree or Maclin. I'd call this a long-shot but it's gaining steam. They can use the pick from Tony G on a pass rusher in the 2nd and then OL depth later.
I cannot disagree more. Maclin is clearly BPA here and the Eagles have shown a willingness in the past to go that route. I think he ment that Maclin would already be gone by the 21st pick. That is how I took it at least.I cannot disagree more. Considering he's mocked at 1.07 by many and I highly doubt he'll fall out of the top 15 at worst, I think it's a great pick. I almost took him for San Diego, despite not needing a WR or PR/KR.I don't think that this happens. Not within the division - to a team that many still HATE for being the ex-Browns, plus the Giants should be able to put together a better WR / 1st offer.Interesting trade... and fair IMO.What do you guys think this would do for Edwards' fantasy value vs. how it would be if he stayed in CLE vs. how it would be if the Giants traded for him?The Cleveland Browns and the Baltimore Ravens have agreed to the following trade:The Baltimore Ravens are sending their 2009 1st round draft pick, 1.26 (26th selection overall) and WR Demetrious Williams, to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for WR Braylon Edwards, their Jekell & Hyde 4-year veteran who they drafted out of the University of Michigan in the 2005 NFL draft. All comments and opinions on this trade are invited and welcomed by both NFL teams.
So you complain that people aren't on the board early (this weekend) to make their picks (again early) and want to get them booted but then you yourself are late for your pick and expect to make your pick................... INTERESTINGYou were over the time limit and still wanted to make your pickSound alittle hypocrtical but whateverYou should have been waiting at home to make your selection, that is what it sounded atleast like what you expected out of others.Just being a smart#$%, if you'd like to comeback with something feel free. I just didn't like how you handled yourself over the weekend so again, whatever.Just got back in. Could I get a few minutes to catch up and make a pick?
He would have looked really good as a Titan. The Cleveland Browns select :
Everett Brown , DE/OLB Florida State
Brown gives teh Browns teh much needed edge rusher. I am estatic that he fell in Clevelands lap here.
Sorry bro but I had to do it. I couldn't justify anyone else and he seems to be rising as we get closer to the draft. He'll be a great pick for someone mid to late 1st.I cannot disagree more. This was addressed breifly earlier in the thread.Mostly likely these two teams would make strange bedfellows but for this mock trading Edwards was a priority and the Ravens made the best offer. From the Browns perspective Edwards would not be on the team for more than a year, then he walks as a FA. Getting a 1st rd pick (which turned into E. Brown, a pass rusher they desperatly needed) from any team in the short timeframe we had for trade talks was key.The NYG did make an offer , but it was not nearly as good as the Ravens of #26 and D. Williams. Also , you would be selling yourself, your team, and your fans short if you did not do everything in your power to make your team better, which includes making difficult deals.I feel that the Browns would be very happy to have Crabtree and E. Brown coming out of the draft.I don't think that this happens.
Maybe a bit of a reach, but I like the Monroe/English combo. Usually see English toward the end of the first/early second however.Perhaps Vontae Davis here and hope English falls to 2.01?1.20 The Detroit Lions select Larry English, DE, Northern Illinois
Best pass rusher in the draft. Start building the OL and DL with this draft.
Not going to happen. Eagles were all over English if he was there at 21. DH even mentioned it in his follow up post. He has an inside source supporting his thoughts so I highly doubt English is there @ 2.01 in the real draft.Maybe a bit of a reach, but I like the Monroe/English combo. I think buffaloes would want us to pick for him to get this thing moving. Any suggestions? Was this supposed to start at 7 EST or 7 CCT (Cali Chill Time)?
confirmedThe Atlanta Falcons & Kansas City Chiefs have made a trade:
Atlanta trades the #55 selection for Tony Gonzalez.
Stinkin' Ref to confirm.

I wonder if he could also slide inside to DT. Don't the Colts have DT's that are a bit smaller (as far as DT's go) anyway?1.27 Indianapolis selects Robert Ayers, DE TennesseeWould have rather had Hood or Jerry here but Ayers is nice too. Indy has Robert Mathis and Dwight Freeney who are smaller DE who excel as pass rushers. Ayers is a guy who can come in and rotate with the Mathis and Freeney and is too much value to pass on at this point in the draft.
