My mom loved him. Saw him in concert a few times in the 70s or 80s. This would have made her so sad. If there’s a heaven she’s probably pretty happy to see him. I put together a Spotify send up, kids cleaning out the bus during our isolation, thinking of mom. RIP both of you.

To add - I grew up with my dad playing guitar all the time. Most of the time he was singing and playing traditional Irish songs and various others. But he played The Gambler and young McB LOVED that song and requested it every time he broke out the guitar.

So, it’s not losing Kenny Rogers as much as remembering that.

Watched this with my daughter last night.  I've always loved this movie.  At the end, she said, that was a pretty good movie.  Erin Gray was great to look at too.

Buck Rogers  Palance guest stars in this 2 Part episode and it's one of the best in the Series, even has some old football Xs and Os in it.

Eric Weissberg whose recording of Dueling Banjos was a unlikely Pop hit in 1973.  Bob Dylan chose Weissberg's band Deliverance to accompany him on Blood on the Tracks but he fired them and re-recorded most of the material.

 
Cameroon/French sax player Manu Dibango died from COVID-19 at age 86.  He was best known for his 70s song Soul Makossa which was a minor hit at the time but later had its hook used by Michael Jackson and Rihanna.

Met him. My director cousin's first big job on the production side was as dance captain on The Rink, which basically meant he was the Minelli-wrangler during the worst of her substance-abuse trouble. Couldnt believe how gracious the production team was when they might all have been more talented than the bane/boon of their existence. Visiting backstage, i was still getting used to non-fabulous gay guys and he impressed me. RIP -

Having two 95yos at home during this contagion is so stoopitly frustrating. I know its weird to want them to go of their own accord after all they been thru, but it's kindaall they got. They been good with it so far, God bless em.

 
Bill Rieflin who was one of the post-Bill Berry drummers in R.E.M. died of cancer at age 59.  Rieflin appeared on the band's last three studio albums.  He was also of the three drummers in the most recent version of King Crimson.

Saw him lecture a couple times...brilliant, entertaining, giving- an absolutely huge loss.
