______ Passed Away Today, RIP (4 Viewers)

Truly one of a kind.  His muse Jim Steinman passed last year.   As the Righteous Brothers used to say, if there’s a Rock & Roll Heaven, well you know they’ve got a hell of a band. RIP.
I thought I read Steinman past just this past Monday...

ETA: My bad, was reading an old article attached to the Meatloaf story.

RIP Loaf

Meatloaf RIP
My favorite quote from the A.P. story:

Meat Loaf was so little known at first that he began his “Bat Out of Hell” tour in Chicago as the opening act for Cheap Trick, then one of the world’s hottest groups.

“I remember pulling up at the theater and it says, ‘TONIGHT: CHEAP TRICK, WITH MEAT LOAF.’  And I said to myself, ‘These people think we’re serving dinner"

I knew about him being in “Rocky Horror Picture Show” and his albums, but I didn’t know he was the lead singer on some of the songs on Ted Nugent’s “Free For All” album.

I saw Meat Loaf in concert in 1977 before “Bat Out Of Hell” blew up. I was 13 and it was quite the spectacle seeing the big man stalk the stage. He was doing a lot of spitting, I do remember that.

Comedian Louie Anderson, 68. Cancer 😞
From Twitter:

Louie Anderson once blew 80 grand, all his money, gambling in LA, then rented a car, drove to Vegas in the middle of the night and used a casino line of credit to win it all back in the pit by sunup, caught a 7am flight and went straight to shoot a 7-11 commercial.
I once saw Louie Anderson at a casino in Las Vegas. He was with a very young and skinny male who looked......ummmm......uncomfortable.

Can't say I'm "pulling" for either, but if the OL play remains as poor as '21 either would likely be a better option than Rudolph.  Better mobility/ability to throw on the move.

Neither are gonna make them a playoff contender though. May as well just use Haskins, honestly.

*vomit*

Ummm

There are few songs that got more radio play than Paradise by the Dashboard Lights. You can't even comprehend how big a song that was if you weren't of age when it came out. It was crazy.

How'd my post about Steeler's draft end up being quoted in this thread?

"If I die, I die". Made his choices.

Off the charts performer. Just oozed charisma on stage. If its possible to sell 100 million albums and be under-appreciated, he was.
I saw him in 1990 at a place called Pleasure Island in Lake Buena Vista, Florida (basically Orlando). He was so much fun, and as you said oozed of charisma on stage. He had such a wide range with his vocals too. He was a great singer.

the first or second time I saw Louie on TV - the main thing I remember from his act (and he was great) - was the line

As he's mopping his brow from real sweat:  "Sorry I'm sweating so much ...but if I don't, I'll explode."

love the Louie - RIP

I saw him about 20 years ago and he was hilarious. He opened for someone, can't remember who, but Louie stole the show. A couple too many fat jokes though IMO.  That part made me feel bad for him.

I saw Louie dining alone in a restaurant I used to work at back in the early 1990s. Evidently there was a specific dish he'd stop by for on his way to L.A. or something. He was wearing one of those Richie Sambora-style hats. I didn't try to bug him.

Baskets was great but so was his cartoon show that was broadcast on Saturday mornings back in the day for a couple of seasons. It was bizarre and funny of course.

I just heard about this. My wife has several of his books and has taken a lot from his teachings.

I watched the video of this story on an Opie episode, let me add a few details.

He won it all back, plus some. He got up 110K and was ready to cash out. He was going to give the dealer a 10K tip but asked the dealer if he wanted to bet it. The dealer had to bet it and won, 20k tip to the dealer.

So Louie has $100k cash and no luggage. He had to go into the casino gift shop to buy a bag to hold the $100k !! lol

So anyway he goes to shoot the 711 commercial carrying this casino bag with 100k. He puts the bag in his trailer and hires a production assistant to guard the trailer for the remainder of his shoot.  😀
