______ Passed Away Today, RIP (7 Viewers)

Through the 1950s and 60s, Lollobrigida was one of the world’s most desired performers and starred in a large number of European and American films opposite many of Hollywood’s leading men of the day
RIP

First time I ever heard her name was as a kid watching the Flintstones, Fred sang “oh, Lollabrickida” (can’t find YouTube link). Didn’t know who she was until years later.
but you know who stoney curtis is?
Him I knew, as well as Stoney Carmichael,
Ann-Margrock and Gary Granite.
Wow. I've never seen people that invested in the Flintstones before.

if you have never been a member of the Loyal Order of the Water Buffaloes you shouldn't be expected to understand.

RIP Gina Lollabrigida age 95.
Two questions.

1. How many times in your entire life have you ever randomly mentioned the name of Gina Lollobridida?

2. How many times AFTER you randomly mentioned her name in a passing coversation had you heard that she had passed?

Yep, just happened to me, hours before she passed.

OK, this has to be a genuine phenomenon where a completely obscure random thing pops into your brain and then you see or hear it soon thereafter.

Third question.

3. Does this 'phenomenon' have a name because it happens to just about everyone.

I just watched Beat the Devil where she played Bogarts wife. I’ve never been a big fan of her acting but she was gorgeous. RIP.
She had a second and quite successful career as a journalist, even landing a rare exclusive Castro interview. Seems like quite an interesting person. She sold $5 million in jewelry and donated it to stem cell research in 2008.

Yes we all experience it from time to time and it’s called The Baader-Meinhof Phenomenon.

I think we need a Flintstones thread and not divert from this one.

We should escape, like Rock Quarry tried to leave Hollyrock.

Obviously not a celeb and not even a human, but RIP to Guiness the Fish, my daughter's little goldfish-type fishy that we got at a church carnival like 4 (yes FOUR) years ago! I named him Guiness about a year ago because it was a miracle he was still alive and swimmin'. I had dropped him on the kitchen floor and my wife almost stepped on him while we were cleaning his tank like 3 years ago. I'm on an overnight business trip and got the news from my kid. Swim away to paradise little fishy!

Yup the wife couldn't be bothered with anything else, apparently. If it woulda happened while I was home I may have dug him a hole in the backyard or something. Oh well.

I seem to remember you posting about this fish. It's ok he got the royal flush, from watching an animated Disney documentary years ago it seems like all fish want to return to the ocean.

That's a good point and sure hope he ends up there. We live 2.5 miles from the Pacific so I hope he finds his way there.

It was a miracle he made it to half that age, frankly. Good for him.
First concert, Crosby, Stills, and Nash. Caught them at the gorgeous Red Rock outdoor Ampitheater in the foothills of the Colorado Rockies. Perfect, calm, 70-degree night, could see planes taking off in the far distance.
I was enthralled.
At one point during the evening they achieved absolute perfection when the entire place got so quiet you could hear a pin drop then they sang this tune.
Crosby, Stills & Nash - Guinnevere
Words can't describe the single greatest concert experience of my life.

Crosby had been playing with house money for at least two decades. RIP
From the concert I noted above when CSN was playing up in the foothills of the Colorado Rockies, at one point Crosby quickly left the stage. Stills and Nash looked at each other baffled, Crosby appeared SUCKING on an oxygen mask as Stills and Nash looked and then began to mime a juggling act till Crosby regained his wind and came back on stage.
It was actually pretty funny and one of the highlights of the night as the crowd laughed.

This one really hurts.
The Score and WXRT has been good today, all Tributes.

My social media is all tributes to him, too. Many of my friends who are musicians are saying things like he was literally the best person they'd ever known.

I’m friends with a old WLS DJ, I’m sure he knew Lin.

This is typical of what I've been reading. It makes me tear up and I didn't even know Lin. From a friend who's in Poi Dog Pondering, who posted a picture and this:

"A beautiful late summer night last year, celebrating Brigid and Marc’s wedding. Lin was hilarious and sweet in his speech, of course, and he gave Expo a giant rousing intro, like he was bringing us on at the Aragon Ballroom, as we took to the stage for the party portion of the night. We hit some song (Switching To Glide? Starry Eyes? Rosalita?) that got him out on the dance floor, and off he went, his walker be damned; arms in the air, megawatt smile, shouting along. It’s a magical memory among many that he seemed to create simply by being in the room with you. Some nights were late, and the details are a tad blurry, but the warmth and happiness and humor and love are still blazing away. And how he made it to work the next morning is beyond me. Errant golfer, hippie philosopher, gourmand, a walking history of music, and the sweetest, most encouraging man imaginable. I love you, Lin."
