Okay Tim. You express that the world is better without one murderer but call someone else callous for supporting death penalty of other murderers you're a hypocrite. You either care about life or you don't. Carry on with your political garbage though.

I believe he was calling someone callous for not caring about non-murderers getting the death penalty because of the error rate.  Is that where we're hung up, here?  We were discussing the fact that 100-120 people are probably waiting to be killed by the government despite not having committed the crime.

How many innocent people do states execute?

How often does a defendant of one race get the death penalty when another defendant of another race who committed a similar crime gets a lesser sentence?

These folks are no longer worth responding to.  Plenty of people on the right side of the aisle who will converse in genuine conversation. :shrug:  

That said, neither am I a perfect example of humanity. Much to work on, as is the case with most all of us.  That said, in this case, I don't see any reason to change either stance.

This is especially true, and demonstrative of my first point (some people are trolls not worth trying to engage, since they don't seek true discourse) since

1. Feeling bad for innocent people that are to be killed does not mean I have to feel bad for a convicted murderer who has likely done more than just one murderous, awful act. I mean, how stupid does someone need to be to suggest its hypocritical to not want innocent people killed as opposed to not feeling bad for a guilty person who killed themselves. Having compassion for innocents but less compassion for murders would seem, well... to make sense, no? I'm not the pope after all. 

2. Having the government be involved in a process where you know a significant percentage of innocent people will be killed is all the worse.  What a joke these "small government" folks who preach limited reach of gov't, but apparently its ok for that reach to extend not only to killing its own guilty citizens (sounds good, but in the end is a terrible drain and negative impact on society with few, if any, positive benefits since it's been demonstrated that executions are not a deterrent to such heinous crimes) but to killing its INNOCENT citizens as well.

But yeah, same thing.  If someone is troll enough to suggest that, I'm not gonna bother responding. It's why I generally don't bother checking up when Im quoted or mentioned by them in the first place.  As I prefer to not lose context, I don't put on ignore even of those whom I believe don't engage in legitimate conversation (having a different point of view has never been my primary or even significant issue with these posters), but it's become clear that responding to the bait or non-contextual knee jerk responses doesn't foster anything positive, either.

i heard since he died during a retrial or something? He's declared innocent so his daughter will receive a $15million patriots payout

$15 million is higher than I thought the recapture was, but yeah - I think it's been said that in Maryland if you die on appeal the verdict is vacated.

just depends on the language in the arbitration, I guess.  Also, even if they DIDN'T have language in it, it would be a court case, and be settled for far less than the absolute number anyway.

100-120 out 360,000,000 total people in United States is not bad. With the continual improvements with DNA the numbers will only get better.

It's pretty bad for the 100-120 people waiting to get murdered.  That's 3-4 times as many Americans as were killed by terrorists in 2014.

Is it just me or is the idea that they outed Hernandez's prison lover outrageous?  

So I get that the entire Aaron Hernandez was bisexual or homosexual makes for good tabloid fodder but I'm not quite sure why it's right we allow that to become a national story.  Maybe it explains some kind of twisted motibe to why he killed Odin Lloyd but it just seems sensationalistic.     I guess they protected his sexuality while he was alive as now it seems there were pretty rumors for some time.  As far as I know they were never brought up in trial which may have given the prosecutors the motive .  He certainly was a despicable human being and I would have been more than happy to see him rot in jail for life   

We can debate the Hernandez thing but how about the NYDailyNews outing the guy who he wrote the letter to?  He's serving time and likely a vile human but what about a right to privacy?  What makes it ok for them to out this guy?  Maybe he outed himself, his lawyers don't seem to deny it but still I'm  or sure having his face plastered across a paper is right either

I understand what you are saying but if him being gay/bisexual was a motive for the murder (which, let's be honest, you can understand how a guy like Hernandez would be highly upset if that got out)...then I say it's fair game to be discussed. 

But yeah, if it had no relevance to the murder, then it shouldn't be brought up

That said... pretty sure it was a playful jab. Bad weekends in Chicago "Only" Have 50ish shootings and deaths in the mid-high teens. Only. :lol:

You said 100-120 people is two weekends in Chicago.  52 weeks a year works out to 2,600 people per year.  I'm asking if that's what you're saying.
