Aaron Rodgers Playoff Replacements? (1 Viewer)

It's tough to see Aaron Rodgers playing much in weeks 15-17, particularly if they continue to pummel their opponents...which leaves me with no QB in one of my leagues and Eli Manning in the other.

Are there any QB's you sharks are targeting for your playoff run? I'm guessing these would be mid-level potential free agents with favorable matchups during those latter, all-important weeks.

Thoughts?

Why does anyone think they will sit Rodgers?

And even if he only gets a half game in, why would you think any pick up you can make will score more in a full game than he will score in half a game?

They currently have a 2 game lead over SF for home field throughout. There is zero chance he sits week 15. If it is still a 2 game lead, there is little chance he sits week 16 as if they lost their last two and SF won their last two, they would be in danger of losing home field. It is looking very likely that he will play sparingly, if at all for week 17 unless they lose a game and SF keeps winning.

Of course this is assuming things stay as they are and GB doesn't own the tiebreaker with SF. San Fran only tough game is Pitt. Green Bay has the NYG and Det, but Det is not until week 17. If I am a Rodgers owner, I am hoping SF keeps winning and GB loses one.The other thing is GB will not want to lose any type of focus or gain any rust....so I can't see them doing this until week 16 at the earliest.

No one sees that if going into week 17 GB is still undefeated, that they'll play for the convincing win; that is the way I see it. I think Rodgers plays straight on through if it means a perfect season but I do own Flynn as my hedge.

Rodgers will not be sitting much...only chance is in a blowout in the 4th quarter.

why?? if they lose a game,SF is within one game of GB..if they continue to win, they're just that much closer to a perfect season.. as they get to ,say, 14-0, I highly doubt they'd sit Rodgers, they'd be gunning for that 16-0record..not a chance Rodgers sits..

If gb keeps winning rodgers keeps playing. If they lose, chances he sits go up quite a bit...

SF will have the tie breaker if it comes to one.

The only scenario that scares me is the potential of GB locking up homefield at 13-1 and resting him at that point for wk 16. Week 15 is a given he'll play, but week 16 is

I think Rodgers owners should have backup plans in place for week 16 as that is the championship game for many of us. I just picked up Fitzpatrick off waivers and should Rodgers sit, Fitz should do in a pinch for that important week 16 game.

If Green Bay keeps winning, Rodgers will play through week 17. =good

If Green Bay loses even one game, all bets are off. They'll still probably have home field locked up by 15 and Rodgers will play maybe a half. = bad. Flynn wouldn't be much of an option either, as he would also only get a half.

Best would be to stay away from GB the last 2 weeks, as I really don't see 17-0 coming. Make your move now.

:goodposting: except I still think Rodgers is a safe bet for week 15. But better have contingency plans available right now for week 16.

Orton.....will be starting very soon......and KC run game sucks.....they will have to throw to move the ball and KC has some weapons at WR and Dex......

I was under the impression that GB is going for the gusto, trying to go undefeated, and not pull a ##### move like the Colts. Therefore, I would think Rodgers would only sit at the end of a game in a Packer's blowout, as long as they keep on winning.

And the answer to the OP's question was in the first reply in this thread (even though I'm not sure if he was serious): SEXY REXY.

The sex cannon should be available on the ww in most leagues. Look at Yudkin's thread about best fantasy qb playoff schedules and you'll see the Redskins are #1 (NE, @nyg, MIN). Plus they have Moss back which is huge since that appears to have opened the passing game back up.

As a Rodgers owner, I would rather start Grossman with his playoff schedule, than Flynn with his (OAK, @kc, CHI) if I had to.

I learned my lesson the hard way last season by not starting Grossman in week 15, after my starting qb McNabb got benched. Went with the "safe" option of Hasselbeck and got bounced from the playoffs, 1 and done, while watching Grossman put up almost 30 on my bench.

In summary, as a Rodgers owner I would pick up Grossman first, and if he's not available, I would grab Flynn as my next choice.

I don't think anyone sees 17-0 coming since they only play 16 games ;) .But seriously, here's GB's remaining schedule: @nyg, OAK, @kc, CHI. The road game this week against a beat up and struggling Giants team is their biggest remaining obstacle, imo. Unless there are hurricane winds in Wisky in week 15, they should torch the Raiders pourous pass defense and win that game.

This is almost certainly the correct answer here. Regardless of records, playoff spots and other factors, there is no chance whatsoever imo that McArthy and the Packers lay down for the Bears or Lions at Lambeau.

Oops, yes, I mean 16-0. :banned:

Question:

Since Rodgers is tearing it up this year, does he have a shot at some in-season passing records? I would think that would affect his playing time.

Passing Yards (Needs to average 322 per game to pass Marino but also has Brees and Brady ahead of him this year)Passing TDs (Needs 17 over the last 5 games to tie Brady...that one is not as likely)Passer rating (playing less would actually help that...he is up 6 points on Manning's record)Completion % (again playing less may help...he is up 1.2% on Brees' record)Yards/attempt? (needs to up it 1.3 yards per attempt to tie Luckman)Packer records...Passer rating...he is destroying Starr's 105 record right now.Completion %...again destroying Favre's record of 66.54%Completions... (needs to average 22.5 per game to beat Favre at 372)Yards per attempt...he is on track to beat Dickey's record of 9.21Yards...Needs 4458 to beat Dickey's record. He is at 3475 now. That one should easily go down.TDs...Needs 7 more to beat Favre's team record of 39.

I think Green Bay allows Rodgers break some of these records.

I fluctuated all year adding ad dropping various qb's. Grossman has a pretty sweet schedule if you wanna go that way. But the more I watched BG games the more I came to the conclusion that alot of qb's not as good as Rogers would be great in that offense....so I stopped screwing around and picked up Flynn in the 2 leagues i have rogers in. I honestly think he is easlily top 10 if rogers is out or sits. who are you going to get off the waiver wire who can do that?

The problem with picking up Matt Flynn is that you might have the same problem as keeping Rodgers in your lineup--he's likely to play 2 quarters of football, rather than a complete game.

Grossman's schedule looks nice...and Orton is logical in KC, but he has the Jets' in Week 14, which could be enough to keep a team from advancing to the 2nd week of playoffs.

Hopefully, the Packers lose a few games and this becomes a non-issue...unlike others in this thread, I can't see the Packers playing him more than a quarter in Weeks 16 & 17.

I'm not even worried. I have Matt Moore in an emergency, but I really doubt it'll come to that.

Week 16 is the Sunday night game, at home, against the hated Bears, and it's Christmas. I think the Pack give the fans a nice present.
