Active Shooter in Munich (1 Viewer)

Are Bavarians white anti immigrant Christian terrorists?
Minor point, but Breivik doesn't identify as a Christian -- which is a bit strange considering his manifesto ("2083:  A European Declaration of Independence") is heavily rooted in Christian history, but I think he's just an extreme Pan-Western-European Nationalist.

I hope the German police can get these savages under control quick. Just watching the cable news, it looks like they have a pretty good idea what they're doing. It looked like they didn't panic and they are ready to roll and meet it head on. The situation suxor but it appears they have professionals ready to take them out.

I'm saying Germany doesn't look soft here.

Bavarians are certainly friendlier than most other Germans, in my experience, if that is what you are driving at.
That they are, but they are also very proud, have a ####ty accent, and it has its groups that tthink it would be better off beingg separate from Germany.  Probably the most religous state in Deutschland.

One gunman shot himself in the head. Don't they normally choose to go out in a blaze of glory?
You wonder when they left the house...well this is it.

Then they get away with the initial horrific attack, they run to safety and then realize they can never live any kind of normal life, the killing solved nothing and now they need to end their life, pathetic losers.

Interestingly enough, it seems like the public perception (including mine and others in this thread) of terrorist violence in Europe doesn't really jibe with reality.

The 70s and 80s were actually far worse than the last 15 years: Deaths from Terrorism in Europe
The problem is that we're only at the beginning of what will be years of attacks that will likely dwarf those from the 70's and 80's. There is no end in sight.

My wife's mom and her whole side of the family is from Bamberg.

I was shocked at how non-stereotypically German they all are.

Posted a couple of videos from here on FB and they've been deleted.
Something is going on with ace book lately.  I had a plane crash right in front of me at the beach a few weeks ago.  I posted it on facebook.  It was deleted in seconds.   The news reported it like 45 minutes after me.  I hate ace book.

That may be true.

But it is also true that the public perception of the current state of affairs isn't accurate. Just like many people think that crime (especially violent crime) is a major and rising problem in the US, when it has actually been getting better for 20+ years.

A German guy with brass balls yellong at the shooter calling him a c*** and an a******.

https://mobile.twitter.com/OnlineMagazin/status/756539012551176194/video/1
Someone in the Twitter replies to that linked this supposed "transcript" of the video:

http://pastebin.com/QE9RviaS

  1. Balcony Man: "You ####### ####### you..."
  2. Shooter: "Because of you I [unintelligible]..."
  3. Balcony Man: "You #### you. you're a ####"
  4. Shooter: "...and now I have to buy a gun to shoot you"
  5. Balcony Man: "a gun #### off your head isn't on right"
  6. Shooter and Balcony man shouting at each other
  7. Balcony Man apparently to people filming: "He's got a gun here the guy has one"
  8. Shooter: "####/####### Turks!"
  9. Balcony Man: "####/####### Kanacken" (foreigners basically)
  10. Balcony man to someone else : "EY! HE'S GOT A GUN! He has loaded his gun! Get the cops here!"
  11. Shooter: "I am German."
  12. Balcony Man: "You're a #### is what you are"
  13. Shooter: "Stop filming!"
  14. Balcony Man: "A #### is what you are, what the #### are you doing?"
  15. Shooter: "Yeah what, I was born here!"
  16. Balcony Man: "Yeah and what the #### you think you're doing???"
  17. Shooter: "I grew up here in the Hartz 4 (unemployment benefits in Germany) area.
  18. Balcony Man and Shooter talk at same time, can't make it out.
  19. Shooter says something about "Behandlung" which is "treatment" in both medical treatment or just how you treat people, not sure which one he means.
  20. Balcony Man says something like "Yeah treatment is something for you"
  21. Shooter: "I haven't done anything here for [unintelligible]"
  22. Shooter: "Just shut your ####### face man"
  23. Balcony Man: "You #### you"
  24. Balcony Man: "HEY! HE'S ON THE UPPER FLOOR HERE [unintelligible]"
  25. Filming man goes into cover, shooter starts firing.
  26. Balcony man calls him a #### again.
  27. Balcony man shouts something at him about "shooting here" and Shooter replies multiple times "Yeah, that's where you're right! Yeah you're right with that!" Yeah you're right!"
  28. Video ends.

However, the same person later responded saying they had "misheard" things initially and the "Turks!" comment was not said by the shooter, but another off-screen voice.

Totally unconfirmed of course, so take all of that with a huge grain of salt.

I wonder how much of that is from "The Troubles".
Going by memory, part was that of course, but I also think there were weird leftist groups in Italy and Germany at the time- Baader Meinhoff? Also, the PLO (remember them?) attacked people in Rome.

That may be true.

Which is a big reason for Trump's success.

But it's always been this way. Perception is based on anecdotes. We were winning the Vietnam War, it was almost over, and the North Vietnamese launched the Tet Offensive. Tactically, it was a major defeat for them. But it gave the American public the perception that we were losing.

There were lots of groups active in the 70s and 80s. Most of them more political than religious:

ETA (Spanish Basques)

Black September (Palestinian)

PFLP (Palestinian)

Direct Action (France)

Red Army Faction (Germany)

And tons of other groups.

Another chart on terrorism in Europe over time

That chart breaks out victims by country. Clearly the Troubles had a major impact in the 70s and 80s.

I saw on the Reddit live thread that people are assuming more than one shooter because of the two videos (McDonald's and the top of the parking garage), but I'm thinking that's the same guy. Looks to be wearing similar clothing and to be armed with a pistol in both (and those locations are close to each other). If we're allowing speculation, I'm thinking this will end up being the one man, and that he'll be a German citizen of Turkish descent (based on the insults thrown out by the men filming the parking garage video).

I think it's the F , I think you're missing the F

Mall shooter was shouting "Allahu Akbar".  Looks like you are wrong (obviously)
this may end up being the case, but for now- at least from what I've seen- this was credited to one woman's eye-witness account.

I'm holding out from jumping to any conclusions guessing about this until there's more info and more witnesses... but that's just me.
