Adrian Peterson - Questionable (1 Viewer)

Anybody else not taking the risk and playing Chester instead? I can't afford to have Peterson pulled an LT, play for a few series and then just disappear.Naturally, he'll have a typical AP day because I'm doing it!
FWIW, if it helps to see how another Peterson owner sees it, in two leagues I have Peterson:Starting him over ChesterBenching him for PortisIn other words, I'd bench him for a full time starter, but nothing less.
Would you bench him for Julius Jones??
Dude....there are very few players I'd bench JJ for today, and a gimpy AD ain't one of 'em.Jones should run for about 400 yards today. I wish he was in my lineup.

From the sound of it he'll get some carries, but if you have other options I would advise starting them. I would expect Chester to get a large increase in carries today.

Went with AP over JJ.I wouldn't be able to sleep if AP rocked and JJ struggled, which could easily happen since we are talking about freakin' Seattle.

Coach asked AP if he had to return the first kick of the game would he do it. AP said yes....Im 100% ready to go.

In case you dont know.. AP was asked to return a punt later in the game last week to get better field position...he said he couldnt do it.

I feel good with AP today

OT: Is there any "fantasy expert" more annoying that Yahoo's Brad Evans? Chris Berman does the nickname gimmick and he isn't as much of a spaz! Peter King is just a dolt, but I wouldn't say he positions himself as a fantasy guru.

Not to pick on you but you're post sounds like fantasy football advice from Peter King:"he'll get some carries" - We'll that's pretty vague

"if you have other options I would advise starting them" - Everybody's got "other options", the question is who are the better options.

"I would expect Chester to get a large increase in carries today" - Again, pretty damn vague

Would it have been OK if he had paraphrased Peter King?

I'm benching AP for FWP. I don't feel good about it but this is something that even though they intend for him to play the whole game (admittadly on a more limited basis than normal) it could tweak and he'll sit.

Plus with Ferrotte playing his first game of the season there is an extra unknown that contributes to more risk in starting him over another viable starter.

I'm also playing a crappy team so I'd rather just take a 5 wood and hit it into the fairway with FWP than going with my driver in AP and coming up with 5 points for the day if he only plays the first quarter.

There's a lot of specific factors as to whether you should start AP or not. Most I think would and should start him. But there are compelling cases to be made to not.

chic on ESPN says AP looks fine and winked at her with a thumbs up.

Fox guy says AP could return openiing kick.

He isnt coming out of my lineup. Then again, my only other option is Felix Jones.

I think its a smoke screen to cover up Frerotte's start and the 0-2 start.

IMO you have it backwards some. TWEAK? he didnt pull his hamstring...it was a hit...so I dont see any tweaking going on. I think having Ferrotte in there makes AP more valueable. There is a pass threat now.

"LOL" all you want. I would start JJ over AD today, and I wouldn't think twice about it.And I'm the biggest AD honk on this board......

No your the 2nd biggest honk.. Billy BAll Thornton would be #1

A little nervous about it, but I'm starting Adrian (over E Graham, and McFadden). I'm a Minnesota homer, and I'm thinking Childress absolutely has to win today. I'm hoping he hyped AP's injury a bit to get an edge over Carolina. We'll see!

couldn't find myself starting AP

benched him in both leagues..in favor of Michael Turner in 1 and Chris Johnson in another. It might bite me in the rearend later.

Looks like you were actually smart. Chester Taylor got the start. Doesn't look like we'll see AD today.

Try again, Merlin.
Yeah, since I didn't get the game, the stats of Chester Taylor and AP on my scoreboard looked like AP wasn't playing.

Taylor gets one catch, and from that, you make the deduction that Taylor started and that Peterson wasn't going to play at all? That is brilliant.

And Taylor got the kick return. And considering they didn't give AD the ball at all in the second drive, I'll deduce that he's not good.

I'm watching this game as I'm in St. Paul..

(I'm sure you all are following it too)

AP is playing and STARTED but he hasn't done much outside of that run that was wiped out for a holding.

Like the announcers said, Vikes aren't running as much (only 3 carries and it's already the end of the quarter).

They come out throwing as if they're the Rams of old.

Maybe AP is out there just to play dummy?

Very True!!

Found this article in the Star Tribune, one of the Minnesota area papers. Looks like Peterson is going to be fine.

Taylor shows his versatility, striding into a larger role

Sid Hartman: Rams' loss is Vikings' gain with Frerotte

With running back Adrian Peterson playing despite a sore hamstring Sunday, the Vikings turned to veteran Chester Taylor to share the workload with his Pro Bowl teammate.

Taylor, who had nine rushing attempts for 37 yards in the first two games, had 11 carries for 44 yards in the Vikings' 20-10 victory over Carolina. He also caught three passes for 22 yards and averaged 22 yards on two kick returns.

Peterson gained 77 yards on 17 carries after going over the 100-yard mark in each of his first two games.

Both Peterson's rushing yardage and attempts were season lows, but considering he was limited in practice all of last week he was happy just to be on the field. "It held up," Peterson said of his hamstring. I came out feeling good, and it did not bother me in the game.

Peterson and Taylor even got on the field at the same time on two occasions, in a split backfield. It was the first time that has happened this season.

Coach Brad Childress knew Peterson was good to go before the game when he asked him if he could return the opening kickoff. Peterson had told Childress he could not perform that task near the end of the Vikings' loss to the Colts last week. This time Peterson quickly said yes -- although it was Carolina that won the toss and received.

"His eyes lit up," Childress said. "He was ready, which told me after he worked out [sunday morning] that he wasn't going to have any trouble getting on the accelerator."

Thanks for the info and link. Good stuff and I think Peterson will be OK. I do expect to see more Chester going forward, but that is not a bad thing for Peterson long-term.Tough matchup at Tenn this week.
