All Android/Google All the Time (1 Viewer)

thanks! that saved the texts to my computer (via dropbox) as an .xml file.

any ideas how to open the .xml file to read similar to how it would in a text message, instead of code? I suppose my co-worker can load it onto her phone and go from there... was hoping to be able to do it all on the desk-top.
Import into Excel?

Since the upgrade to 10, it takes FOREVER for a call to connect when dialing. Easily 10 seconds or longer from hitting the contact until it actually rings.

WiFi also seems way worse.

I just got the Google home hub nest Max or whatever tf their confusing branding has named it.  Anyways the big screen, same as the little one but the speaker is legit.  I had a $100 Google store credit from getting the 4a.  I replaced the original Google home and the speaker is 10x better, which I thought was good at the time (funny how that works).

As far as using this thing so far the photo scroll is nice & the picture is amazing.  I recently got a Chromecast ultra for my back porch and have been watching more music videos on YouTube music instead of Google play.  That's neat to have the video playing in the background.

The video calls are cool and since my wife has an Android we may use it.

Not sure if I will be doing things like ordering food, etc.

2 of my wyzecams are supposed to work with it but when I tried I didn't get a picture.  It's a new feature so may be buggy still.  This was a feature I was looking forward to.

Google Fi now has an unlimited plan for $70, prob $80-$85 with taxes.  I'm on a single plan unlimited Verizon for $89.  Not enough savings to risk an interior network imo.  I'm sure they lease from towers like everyone else, but vz and att still likely have the best networks.

Why doesn't every [unlocked] phone have wifi calling? Or do the new phones have this now, and I'm just not aware? As of last year you needed to buy a phone from a carrier to have the wifi calling feature available.

Is there a thread that discusses going from iPhone to Samsung? Thinking of switching to the Note 10+. Anybody have experience?

Up until recently I carried both iphone and android phone.  From iphone 6-X, several androids including 2 galaxy's and a Note.

What is it you want to know?

The only think I wish Android phones had was apples texting system... otherwise I have preferred every android device to its apple counterpart.

Textra seems to largely solve the texting issue for me although I still can't "like" texts, etc.. and group texting with apple devices is limited.

I got a new iPhone 11 because I’m a coward. But thanks.

I may do the same.. despite the preference of the android devices, they all do the same stuff.  I like the note pen utility, but how often would i use it?

The texting and iwatch is becoming enough of a simple convenience advantage in my mind to just go apple.

I like the screen time option on Apple which I can set for my kid's phone using my iPad. Also like my Apple earpods and wouldn't mine trying airpods. Problem is you can't control volume with Android. Otherwise Android is superior IMO.

Pixel 4 looks like a pretty solid device, but I'm glad a lot of the new features are coming to the 3.  I'll probably hold off til the 5 unless there's something special I missed (lenses aside)

The range on the new "Nest" WiFi (why cant google just stick with one name for its products??) looks impressive though, might have to get that one

Optical zoom looks awesome.

I think the Pixel 4 looks like a fart noise emoji... and I am a big fan of the line.   $1k for no fingerprint sensor, no head phone jack, and no expandable storage...

Got a Note 10 last week and really like it (granted Ive been carrying a OnePlus3 for the last several years).

Like: Display/screen is spectacular, the pen is actually useful to me (had my doubts prior to buying).. the phone becomes a reusable post it note for me, camera is great.

Dislike: the in screen fingerprint sensor is somehow harder to use and slower than the OnePlus 3, some small nuisances figuring out again how to use samsung OS, the "fast charging" is the same or slower than the OnePlus 3 fast charging.

I was able to call ATT's customer loyalty and play the Direct TV game.. told them I found a better deal on TMobile - got the phone for $550, got $50/mo off my plan.

Google rolling out RCS through their Messages app without carrier support.  Tested it out a little and it works great. Downside is I think it only works with other people who use Google Messages, which is obviously limited.  Still I'll take what I can get!

So isn't this the same closed platform messaging system that has existed for more than a decade? If you and the person you are texting are using the same system.... it works GREAT! Well, that's been the same thing for hangouts, or imessage, or whatsapp, 50 other messaging apps as near as I can tell.

I'd like to get my hands on a Realme X2 Pro for my next daily driver, but I can't seem to find a vendor that can verify they have a U.S. version with our charging brick.

If it's the phone you really want, I wouldn't let the charging brick be the barrier. I think you can get those for under $9 or less but I actually prefer spending a little more and using a multi-device power station at home and/or using an external battery while traveling.

In my house the charging brick that comes with the phone typically gets tucked into a drawer in the guest bedroom anyway.

The Realme X2 charger is 50watts. The Oppo Reno Ace charger is 65watts. These fully charge a 4000mah battery in the amount of time it takes to eat breakfast. It's a major selling point.

I wonder why more phones don't have wireless charging as a standard feature. I know fast charging is a big deal, but the convenience of a simple charge pad is such a quality of life upgrade.

That and waterproof were the two sacrifices I made getting the Pixel 3a.  Not worth paying twice several hundred more dollars imo.

Getting an IP rating is expensive so I get why a lot of these flagship killer phone forgo that process. Many are water resistant in tests anyway so it's not a big deal.
But so many phones already have glass backs and it would seem like a low cost(?) way to boost the features of a device.

I’ve had an iPhone 11 for about a week now after having Galaxys dating back to the S3 maybe, and was Blackberry before that. I was hesitant to switch but eventually caved mostly so I could easily FaceTime with my daughter while I’m at work and get better quality videos and pics through iMessage.

I had a pretty thorough list of things I thought would drive me crazy not to have anymore from Android or things about iOS I couldn’t stand, and it took me less than a day to get over pretty much all of them.

Just a heads up in case anyone else was like me and was very stubborn about switching.

I'm glad it was because of four daughter.  I know several people who begrudgingly switched because their wives have iPhones. Now i call it icucked.

Does anyone use Airpods with their Android phone. I currently use earpods and I really like the feel. I can't stand ear buds with the squishy tips that seal your ears. Thinking about Airpods but I've read the sound quality isn't good on Android. If it's similar to my earpods that would be fine.

my daughter uses that combo and has no issues.

I don't like the trend of holepunch/cutouts for selfie cameras. It's a complete downgrade from a teardrop or even a centered notch. So dumb.

Oppo's under-the-screen camera is the direction mfgs should be going in, not more holepunches.

Been using an iPhone for a few years, got bored, grabbed a OnePlus 7T a couple of weeks ago and can say it's a really great experience. Never had a phone so fast and smooth. Hope it holds up. Nice to have some freedom back in a phone.
