All Android/Google All the Time (4 Viewers)

I think I'm going to pre-order the regular Pixel. A 5" screen is plenty for me. The battery is my only concern.

At any rate, I can expense my phone bill at work so I'll sign up for Fi and sneak the financing on the bill. It'll cost work less per month than my current bill and they'll pay for my phone at the same time. :moneybag:

It's carrier unlocked, has band 12, and supports T mobile Wi-Fi calling out of the box. If you like it, just buy it from Google Play, pop your T-Mo SIM in it, and you're set

I said to hell with it and got the XL. It's only about $5 more per month and I can always exchange it early on. With the free Daydream VR being offered I figured I'd get the one with the better screen to try and get the full capabilities out of it.

For someone needing casual use of a camera, what's on the phone is better than the inexpensive options of a stand along camera ten years ago (ie, more than what a casual user needs).

What about a phone will make it obsolete quicker than a tablet?  My Note 4 is older than two years, and is still going strong.

Computer is a different animal, but again, if you are doing on your phone what you used to do on a computer, you're obviously not a power user (of a computer).

 
I currently pay google $5 a month for upgraded drive storage.  I think I might be able to cancel that if they are offering free storage for all pics & vids.  Also 3 months of Google Play is a $30 value.  The headset is worth about $70 I think.  The large price tag sucks, but at least they are throwing in some stuff.

 
Oh I misunderstood - the Pixel will give you unlimited in the original format?     I was wondering why they kept announcing this :lol: :bag:

Google Photo gives you unlimited storage space if you are willing to limit photo resolution to 16 megapixels and video resolution to 1080p. You do have the option to store at higher resolutions, but the storage counts against your Google Drive quota.

Check out Best Buy... their pre-orders come with a $100 GC and a chromecast... maybe hte Daydream too, I know the play store is shipping them with preorders.

The Nexus 6 released at $649, the 6P released at $499, and the Pixel XL at $769 (all 32GB versions).

I don't get how they think they can get away with charging $120 more than the original 6 with the exact same memory even though memory prices have dropped a ton over the past two years.  The 128GB 6P was $649 compared to the 128GB Pixel XL at $869.

The Pixel XL is at least $200 over-priced and if you can be patient it will drop quickly next year.

How quickly?  Usually it's like a year for the price drops to start happening.

See if you can find some Nexus 5x pricing history to use as an estimate.  It seems like that one was over priced when announced and has been dropping in price since. 

 
You might see Verizon offering deals around Christmas, but I doubt there is any significant price decrease until spring.  They likely lower the price before the Samsung Galaxy S8 is released, and that is usually in the spring.

Well, I did it. I went to go pre-order the Pixel XL and the one I want is sold out already, so I'm on the wait list.

I'm the cheap one in my house, so when I told my wife about the cost and I was hesitant because of that, she's the one that told me to get it anyways, I'd regret it if I didn't. Pretty cool. :thumbup:

Now I just wonder how long it will take before I'll be able to buy and receive it.

They put a premium camera this time around so that is what justifies the price increase. It's a direct competitor to iPhone 7 and Galaxy 7. The previous Nexus phones were "budget" focused phones.

 
I think it makes sense to make the Pixel expensive as hell. People like top of the line phones. Works for Apple and Samsung. Even better to get it on Verizon. A $300 phone that you couldn't use on Verizon made the Nexus a phone nobody bought.

I don't get it personally, being mostly like Dentist when it comes to phones (just activated my brand spanking "new" Galaxy S4 mini), but Pixel strategy makes more sense than the Nexus strategy.

New galaxy S4?  I would imagine that thing is going to start feeling slow if it doesn't already.  The old devices can't always handle the newer apps.  Things get buggy.  If you don't do much with your device it might not be an issue.

Refurbished S4 Mini. I was never a power user with a real top end phone (2013 Moto X is the one that just croaked). I just don't use phones for all that much these days. Texting, sending pics, couple websites, Google Drive, and adjusting fantasy lineups. I really don't even watch videos on my phone. 16GB is even plenty of storage for me.

3-4 years ago phones started doing everything I need them to do, and now that phone companies aren't subsidizing new phones through the plans anymore, I think I'll just keep going the cheap refurbished route. At least until the phones start giving blow jobs or something.

A camera that costs maybe an extra $10 more than the previous one.

 
Smashed the glass on my Note 3 pretty good this morning. Doesn't look like the fixed Note 7's are for sale yet (AT&T) only trade in's. Don't want to go back to iphone or wait a month for a new one anyway.

Someone willing to give me a quick list of differences between the S7, S7 Edge and S7 Active? I see the S7 & S7 Edge have a number of promotions like a free VR headset going right now, but not for the Active.

All have the same CPU, camera, etc.

S7 Edge = larger screen and bigger battery vs S7/Active.

S7 Active = "more durable" case and has physical back, home, and recent tab buttons vs just the physical home button on the other two.

I've looked at it.  I hesitate since I've been on the Nexus bandwagon for a long time and pretty much hate Android overlays.

I also refuse to use Verizon, but that's for a different thread.

My cousin has the Note 7 & I held my Note 4 next to it, and they are basically the same size.  The Note 4 is 5.7 the Note 7 is 5.5.   Google image search "note 4 note 7 side by side."

I'm not sure wwhy it's the same size when it should seem 2in smaller? :unsure:

You sure it wasnt an s7. My note 7 is bigger than my wifes s7. And its close to my note 3, just sized differently, little thinner etc

The note 4 vs note 7 has same5.7

It was the new Note 7.  I thought they were 5.5, didn't realize they were 5.7

I've had 2 Note 7's :lol:  original and "safe"  .... Such a great phone minus the catching fire

I'd rather just activate my old one then do the temp thing :shrug:

I'll be mailing back my Note 7 tomorrow.  I would have liked to wait for the Pixel but went ahead and picked up the iPhone 7+.  Maybe I'll come back for the Note 8.
