All Inclusive Carribean Vacation for 4 people for 5K? (1 Viewer)

Agree that all the all-inclusive for the most part offer the same level of try hard.  The differences are minor and amount to things like the beach/pool scene and what sort or people it draws. 

Why do people bother posting stuff like this? It's so incorrect. All inclusives can range from just having buffets for every meal with drink service meaning crappy pours, well liquor, no shots allowed, crap beer...to multiple restaurants with legit food, plentiful liquor, 24 hour room service, plenty of beach attendants bringing you food/drinks, bottles of liquor given to you in your room everyday, etc. If all that is "minor" to you, then sure.

As with nearly everything in life, you get what you pay for.

I've been to enough, some for weddings and some on my own. 

I've never been to a really crappy one, the closest was a Couples resort in Jamaica that was not my idea.  Only issue there was you had a capacity issue for the beach seating as well as the restaurants that they seemed fairly ok with just letting go on.  And the people that went there were older and fatter and more prone to taking their clothes off regardless of their age/appearance.  Yeah.  

In Cancun I don't think a really ####ty place exists at least out of the hotel zone.  I've done enough of them and been to enough of them to know they all follow the same general guidelines. 

As always let trip advisor guide you.  There are people that write reviews up on those places like it's their job.

Go to the Caribbean, not Mexico.  St. John, Caymans, St. Martin, whatever.  Also, don't do all inclusive, eat local.

He has 5 grand and 5 days.  you would have him find that type of trip where in that range and without making a zillion connections in the process?

Much better off in one of the secluded Florida Beaches IMHO...been all over the Carribbean, meh!

-The poverty, the begging, feeling bad because I have a couple bucks in my pocket.

-Go to Hawaii or Florida and enjoy the sandy beaches in the great United States. 

Can 4 people go to Hawaii for a week for $5k? I can rent a condo for less than a $1,000 weekly on the island of Kauai, prettier than any Carribbean Island IMHO.

If you are dropping $250/pp a day on a trip with airfare then yeah, you aren't gonna have a lot of separation.

Maybe some day I'll scoff at a resort that doesn't have Courvoisier in a diamond encrusted decanter next to the toilet, but for now, I'm pretty content.
