Amazon Prime Day Deals (1 Viewer)

Daughter wants me to buy a game for my grandson during prime day cuz it's down 17%. To put it a different way it's $2 off right now so I'm not seeing the awesome deal there and I get the feeling it'll be $2 off soon anyway.

In that same review from June the guy says: Is a DOG hairdryer worth almost $100? So this is obviously one of those fake "deals" where the price is marked up and then back down to normal.

ETA: also, just below the deal price is the price for non-prime members ($130) which is probably also inflated.

Lol at Amazon's balls for inflating the price over 6x to make it look like a better deal than it really is.

Picked up a Google Nest to replace our crappy thermostat in our new house we don’t like. 30% off today, plus used a 50% off deal for using one US Bank rewards point, plus my local utility has a $50 rebate credit for upgrading. All told, I’ll make like 8 bucks off the deal to upgrade

Started.... anything good this year?

Powerbeats pro 2 are $179. I picked up a pair around father's day for 199, but they are a nice improvement over the original imo.

I'm looking to get a gaming headset with mic, a cooling fan plate for a 14 inch laptop, and possibly the Oura ring gen 4.

There are a couple SteelSeries gaming headsets at around 35% off right now. I don't own one but the brand I recognize as very good. I'm not a gaming headset expert though.

Thanks. Yeah I know nothing about them. I bought a gaming laptop a few months ago and have just been using wired apple ear pods so anything is going to be better. Want something with a mic and not too bulky. Was eyeing these.

Anyone have any experience with any car play/Android auto stand alone units. We are looking at getting one for our son's car because he still has the old non TV screen radio. There are so many out ther in different points, it is hard to decide between them and haven't found a lot of info out there.

I got a pioneer w2700NEX last year on an older car.. i am not audio guru, but i have liked it.

wireless, touchscreen, compatible with apple and droid (and bluetooth), alexa , can add a1 cam for backup 6.8 screen.... it was around $300.

Pioneer W2700NEX

edit: i have heard good things about sonys and kenwoods

Am I wrong in thinking they added an additional "prime" day and made the deals worse.

I see nothing of interest.

Meh, the additional 30% off already discounted open box items got me twice. $120 Ninja air fryer for $60. 120 is a reach as it's usually 99, but I wanted it. Open box for 60, not bad. $12 for an electric kettle that's normally 25. It's a backup but having 2 will get my pasta or rice water boiling near instantly.

Wife lost her AirPods. Was going to grab the Amazon echo ones for $14.99 regularly $50 to try out but they sold out early this morning.

There are some targeted discounts if you have certain credit card points. Examples like 40% off if use an MR earning card (AMEX) or 30% for Discover. I had some things I needed to buy that I was waiting for this week and saved about $170 off stuff I would have bought anyway.

But otherwise haven't seen any particular big deals I have to have (but part of that is I don't need much these days.)

Nice. Like you, I don't know enough about headsets to say whether an extra $30 for the SteelSeries is worth it.

I've been trying to figure this out since the first Prime day...The first Prime day was awesome. I'm not sure if my declining interest is due to a lower interest in random gadgets (i.e. I've already bought everything) or if the deals just aren't as good...

Bought a ton this morning for my youngest who’s starting college in a few weeks. Great place for that.
Doing the same. I've got the basics, anything other than that what are you getting for the dorm? I bought a small tool kit, flashlights and band-aid/first aid stuff.

Don't wait to just see what the deals are... plan ahead for what you need.

Made the mistake of buying a Garmin watch and I needed a new Braun shaver one year and it was a month before prime day. A month later I could have saved about $100 each.

This year we needed a new hand rototiller and wife has been wanting a steam cleaner. Saved about $40 each by waiting for prime day.

Of course fire devices and blink cameras are always half price on prime days.

the Oura ring gen 4.
What's the deal with these? I'm not liking wearing an iWatch AND a regular watch (which I'll always wear), or going back and forth, or the battery charging. So I've been thinking about one of these rings instead.

Is this the latest one and how much savings we talking?

Rolling tray for toiletries, under the bed storage, surge protector with USB/USB-C outlets, air purifier, silk pillow case lol and a fan might fall outside the basics. We have tons of school supplies built up over the years.

So far, a Ring doorbell and a Travelpro carry on. Don't know if they were great deals but they were, per Amazon, 37 & 47 % off.

Here are things we got for my oldest when he was moving into the dorms a couple years ago, and getting for my middle son who will be a freshman this fall. Not all of these are on sale and you should comparison shop of course, but providing links to items on Amazon for simplicity.

For the oldest, he knew his roommates ahead of time, so the mom's all coordinated, but these are things that all 3 got.

Moving Bags - these were great and made moving in, and packing up very simple. Our son was about an hour 15 minutes away, so would also use these occassionally when hed come home, or for spring break

Laundry bag/backpack - can hang over a door/corner of bed, and makes very easy to take dirty clothes to laundry facilities

Shower Shoez - definitely needed if the dorms are community showers

Shower Caddy

Desk Lamp - similar to this one

Clamp on Power Strip

Bedside Shelf - clamps to bed

Over Door/Wall storage

Laundry Detergent Sheets - much better than having a big bottle of detergent or paying for single use every load

Shelfing that fits over mini fridge

You will also want a mattress topper , a mattress cover for preventing bed bugs/dust mites and a waterproof mattress cover

Costco has the collapsible crates that work great as well, as depending on bed height they can fit under there, and can collapse down to take up less space, which is at a premium in most dorms

Great, thanks. My daughter gave me a list and it has some of those things but those clamp on power strip and bed shelf look great.

These are a must. Worked very well for moving from California to Colorado and back again. Just very handy and easy to fold up and store for the year without taking much space or use as storage during the year.

Shark and Dyson cordless vacuums are on sale at several price points

"I'm looking for a Hoover Max"

For us streamers they have a bunch of 2 month subscriptions for 99 cents but the apple+ is only 50% off.
Which services do they have 99 cent subscriptions? I couldn't find anything with a search of their site.
When I get onto my fire tv and I scroll down to Prime Member Deals it's there

I don't like wearing watches. I have a Fitbit watch that I never wear. I tried the original Oura ring when it came out and was not impressed with its step tracking ability and returned it. The latest ones have all sorts of monitoring capabilities. I don't even really like wearing rings but am thinking I'll give it a try again. Something to help motivate me in getting serious about improving my health. The galaxy ring is also an option. I guess with Oura you also have to pay a $6 or $7 monthly fee to get all the tracking capabilities. Looks like they are typically $350 but on sale for $300 so not a huge discount.

Anyone doing the Luna gaming thing? Is it decent with Prime? I saw Fortnight is free but what else do I need to know?

I went ahead and got it.

Now I need to sell my iWatch. It's the latest one with the bigger screen and a matte black, magnetic band. Zero damage, minimal wear.

been busy with work....

anyone see a good dashcam deal?
I know nothing about dash cams. But Slickdeals put this in a prime day email today

This is the one I have installed. I use it Pretty basic but I only use it while driving, I don't have it on 24/7

Thanks for this. Was having trouble getting the deal on the desktop, but figured it out last night on my Fire TV. I had to go to my subscriptions and press cancel for my Paramount+ since I was a current subscriber and it then offered a bunch of options including one to continue for .99 per month for the next couple months. Unfortunately, all our other subscriptions are through bundles on Verizon, but I'll take what I can get.

I bought a WiiM Ultra for music streaming to my stereo in my home office, it was on sale for 36% off. I had also read online that teaming it up with a re-clocker like the S.M.S.L. PO100 Pro was a good idea to improve sound quality but the S.M.S.L Pro was not on sale, so I paid full price for that. I wanted the Cambridge Audio MXN10 but I use Amazon Music (for now) and the MXN10 doesn't support Amazon Music natively plus I actually couldn't find it anywhere, so I just went ahead and pulled the trigger on the WiiM. If I don't like it, I'll either send it back or resell it later on down the road, we'll see. . . although knowing me, I'll just put it back in the box and it will collect dust under a mountain of other crap I've bought over the years and never returned nor resold. Ah well.

For your college kids, but also for you or family members, consider getting this portable car battery jumper/air compressor for $50 (redeem the 20% off coupon).

This one is more powerful but no air compressor

I never realized how handy the jump starters are...especially now that they've gotten quite small. I have one of those NOCO ones that are on sale. The one I have is a little bigger than my iphone (a bit thicker of course), but it will jump start my diesel Jeep. I think everyone should carry one of these.
