Amazon Prime Day Deals (1 Viewer)

Along with the Samsonite luggage set, picked up Bose noise cancelling over-ear headphones as a birthday gift for my daughter, and a couple of indoor security cameras (to check on the pets).

I'm out.

I added maybe 12 "nice to have" items to a list over the last 3 weeks. The only one that had any discount from Prime Day were some cheap wire baskets, which were down 20% ($4.00). Kind of disappointing. I still ordered a few things I was going to get anyway, but waiting for Prime Day discounts didn't really help me.

If you want off-brand electronics, kids toys/crafts, and household stuff, it's probably still a draw, but I haven't found deals that good in a few years on Prime Day.

*ETA - and Amazon devices - I'll echo (no pun intended) what others have said - Fire Sticks are awesome. I have like 3-4 now. A few in TV's for streaming, and one that I travel with so I don't have to log in/out of hotel devices and such.
Do you just connect the stick to your phone hotspot when you're on the road?

Ended up picking up a couple of Levoit air purifiers that were on sale at local Target with "prime days" sale ($80-100 off).

Got a couple of offbrand (Vewior?) about 2 months ago. Been pleasantly surprised. Oddly enough it's been helping with my wifes snoring. Got a coupon deal so not returning and rebuying. They were like $100 originally and got them for 35ish

Look to see if the replacement filters are on sale. Got about a month out of the living room one that runs constantly.

Blink camera package with Doorbell plus 3 perimeter cameras $119. Camelcamelcamel said the lowest its ever been was $169 last black Friday. Retail $319.

Then the full package yearly subscription is $100/year.

Anybody have these? Any good? I've been using my own setup with blueiris. But it takes a bunch of time to setup and there is always bugs. Seems worth $100 to set it and forget about it.

I have 5 Blink cameras (3 outdoor, 2 indoor), and the Blink doorbell. They're decent I guess, but I have nothing to compare them to.

I don't pay for a plan or storage. I've had them for about a year. No real complaints since I just wanted a sinple system that will alert me and record perimeter activity, and it does that fine.

Thanks. The indoor cameras are on sale for $19.99. I might grab a couple of those too. 6 cameras for $150 that get a decent picture seems pretty good to me.

You can just record to thumb drive too I think. I might try the cloud plan for a year and see how much I use it.

Yeah I record onto a thumb drive. The main difference between the local (thumb) and cloud storage are the clips take longer to load from local storage, and you can't delete several clips at once in the app - you have to load/open each one and click delete. I just plug it into my laptop and delete files that way.

When you get the system up and running you get a month of cloud storage free.

For the price you can't go wrong. The pic and video quality is pretty good and I haven't had any problems other than 2 cameras being a bit far from my router and sometimes I have to close a camera and reopen it. I also bought 2 solar panel chargers for 2 of my outdoor cameras that trigger and record the most. The lithium batteries last a while, I haven't had to change any out yet

Anyone have experience with Amazon tvs? Tough to beat those prices but they may be garbage.
I bought an Insignia Fire TV 32" for the camper not to long ago. $95. It's basically just a firestick and a screen. Scans for OTA TV channels on the new antenna I put on top of the camper (never tried that before on a firestick). Works good enough for what I need it for and for a TV we'll use only a week or two a year while traveling/camping.

Depends - A lot of hotels give me fast enough Wifi that I can still log into their wifi for free. If not, I'll just stream from my phone.

I have noticed more and more hotels use a Chromecast type function where you can beam from your phone directly to the TV. That really works well now. I'd say about 2/3 of the places I stay let me do that and I don't need the fire stick. Still nice to have one just in case though.

Ring Cameras are fairly cheap.

Im staying away from all this because I just keep looking for excuses to buy. Im trying to buy less stuff and keep more of my money.

I grabbed 2 of the indoor cams for like $24 simply so I could use them when we are out of town. One in the main living area, one in the basement, and one in the upstairs hallway covers pretty much the whole house. Just peace of mind. I already have the outside covered.

For that price, I'm fine only using them now and then.

You have security cameras inside your house? What kind of hell hole place do you live in? :)

Ordered the Amazon fire max 11 tablet for 139. I've seen it for 149, it's typically 199. With trading in one of my HD10 tablets I got it for 109. Meh, I've been curious about it for awhile so wth. The HD10 is probably the better deal at 74 today, but I use these all the time and went for the top of the line. Most reviews say it isn't that much of an upgrade over the 10, but some love the brighter bigger screen and faster processor enough to warrant the purchase.

I grabbed a pair of the HD10's to replace the kids 8's. I really hate the fire OS, especially their parental controls and wanted to switch the kids to iPads...but you look at the price difference and I just can't justify it. I got the kids new tablets, cases, and screen protectors for less than half of one iPad.

My kids think it's normal. shhhhhh.

Without the basement one, I'd have never captured the gem that is the neighbor busting my 75" TV with a nerf gun during our Christmas party.

I have a friend from high school helping us receive our amazon shipments. We will pick them up when we arrive in phx :)

so far:
a topper for her bed
power strips
collapsible laundry basket
large pillows
desk organizer
vanity mirror
moving bags
bedding
tool set

Terrible prime days overall. To my knowledge, they didn't even do the buy $50 Amazon gift card, get $10 bonus Amazon card they typically do.

Only thing I bought was AMZN

I had been looking for replacement mattress for awhile and finally pulled the trigger on a Leesa Sapira Hybrid (King) that was listed on the Wirecutter Prime Day deals. It's their top-rated hybrid mattress. Regular price $2200 discounted down to $1300.

Also pulled the trigger on an inexpensive pair of wireless earbuds for my computer (mostly for Teams/Zoom meetings) just because I'm tired of being tethered with wired headphones.

That said, I'm too scared to open Amazon right now and see what all my wife ordered the past two days. :scream:

I have Soundcore over the ear headphones, and for inexpensive they are pretty good. They also are wireless and have built in microphone. I have had inexpensive earbuds that were so uncomfortable that I couldn't wear for more than 10 minutes at a time. Hope these ones work out for you, but keep it in your back pocket that there are over the ear solutions

I don't think this is a prime day deal but I found it yesterday. I previously bought one of these 9" kitchen tongs and it was really good quality. Saw a 3-pack yesterday for $5.07.
So do you have to click each one three times or each of them once, you know, to make it a legit use of them? Those that don't click them three times are savages.
I was going to reply to him about clicking :lmao:

BTW, I'm a three times guy. Pretty sure they don't work unless you do that

I use my grill and smoker a LOT. It's a well known fact in our house, three times or its wrong. Always do it for fear of having to turn in my man card.

I play songs with mine.

Really popular around Christmas when I click Jingle Bells before I get down to business on the grill.
