American Horror Story: Hotel (Season 5) (2 Viewers)

First episode was pretty good. Hopefully it doesnt turn out like freakshow where it was awesome for a while then just totally fizzled. I think asylum was kinda the same way. I never watched any of Witchcraft. 1st season was awesome all around.

Maybe they just need less episodes and do two a year, I dont know. Either way, this started out nice. Acting, visual, dialogue, and i am not one to harp on music but the music was great. Nice fit.

Enjoying it so far.. Then again, I liked the beginning of Asylum, Coven, and Freak Show until they became :tfp: and I abandoned the seasons..

here's to hoping this one stays on the rails

Wait, did this just turn into a vampire show?
Did you not catch that with the first episode?

And

Did you think the series was ghost, crazy, witch and freak exclusive?
I caught they were killing people and drinking blood. That is actually a thing. I didn't catch "vampire".

I am good with ghost, crazy, witch, and freak. Never was into vampire stuff. Although I guess there are sort of unique vampires that arent the normal clishe vamps, so I will give it a shot to see where it goes.

I consider the others (asylum and freakshow) good because they were very entertaining for a while. If this hotel one is good for 4-5 episodes then falters, I am good with that. it's 5 hours of good entertainment if it happens.

You didn't know going into this lady Gaga was playing some vampire queen? It was all over the press

Yeah, I don't really think it's a thing to kill someone by sucking their blood. But if it was I'd call them vampire whether or not it fit the classical stereotype vampire or not. Knowing it's a horror themed series it was quite frankly the first thought that came in my head and I haven't even seen the second episode yet.

That being said I think it's overall theme is going to be more as a horror hotel, as it's name implies, because we've already seen in episode 1 serial killers and demons. Not just vampires.

I didn't mean KILLING people, but drinking blood is definitely a thing. I just thought they were crazy killers.

Yes "vampire" came to me immediately, obviously, but I didn't think they were actual vampires.

Do you ever take AHS's **** out of your mouth?

We are into it so far. Lady Gaga has been pretty damn good (have to admit).

Nothing will ever be season 1 again. The show has gone in an entirely different direction since season one trying to out shock each season every year.

Season 1 stands alone. And every season season since has had that same feel as the previous.

If I had to rank them so far it is pretty easy for me:

1

2

4

3

So far I think this season has potential to blow past Freaks and Coven and it remains to be seen if it leap frogs Asylum. I thought Coven was pure garbage and gave up on it after episode 5 or 6...can't remember. Freaks I watched to the bitter end. I loved it till they kicked the clown off the show. It went all downhill after his demise. Season 2 I enjoyed start to finish but had high expectations after season 1. But looking back on season 2 I thought it was pretty damn good and Jessica was awesome. She was also awesome in Freaks and she is what kept me watching season 4 till the end.

I like Hotel, I like where it's going so far. I hope it continues to focus on the gruesome horror and we delve into the history of the hotel more and more. So far so good.

Yep pretty much.

Right now this season is pretty good. At this point with all we know about things and the characters, if they keep it simple it should be pretty damn good all the way through. I didn't watch Coven, but Asylum and Freakshow just became "too much going on". Quality not quantity here. We'll see how it shakes out.

My girlfriend had never seen Season 1 so we watched a few episodes over the last week.

Then I watched the first 2 of Hotel.

Man have we gone off the rails in the last 5 years.

waiting to see where they're going with it. I like the premise and Gaga is pretty good so far, but as someone else mentioned, it feels like they're trying to jam in too much stuff.

what was great about the first season is that it truly was about that 1 family who moved into the house, and everything that happened kinda centered around them in some respect. the girl with the ghost boyfriend, the dad slowly losing his marbles, etc.

:lmao:

The first episode was one of the worst hours of tv I've ever seen in my life. Stupid ridiculous gore just for the sake of gore.

Here we go again with this show......trying to cram in too many things, too many characters, too many storylines.

The same tired formula that really leads to me tuning out.

Get back to what made season 1 so awesome. Focus on a great story and run with it.

Not 7 different storylines and how can we shock you this week. Yet I keep watching LOL!!!!

starting to lose me also. I think the only 2 storylines I care a little about are Gaga & JP March (the serial killer hotel builder). all the rest is pretty

I haven't seen an episode in the current season, but this show was SO creative, it ruined previous seasons.

Normally, i like out of the box, but this show seems to introduce (or focus on) so many different plots, I forget the reason I'm watching.

Unless this board says to come back, I'm out.

I liked Devil's Night.

Unless you're some sort of serial killer aficionado you won't feel they bludgeoned you with info on who they were, at least not the first two

And who else thinks Det John Lowe (?) is the serial killer he's purportedly investigating? Split personality after Holden a diction or something drove him to it. Think that's why he got an invitation and is 'off limits' as a special guest of the hotel/March

Show has lost a ton of steam after the first two episodes. Freaks kept my interest longer than this.

I wonder how ratings are for this season. Maybe that is why they brought Gaga in. Freaks I assume fizzled as the season went on.

I may be done....I will give it one more shot tonight. But I think I am not wasting anymore time with it. It is just all over the place and becoming a chore.

I didn't mind last week's episode, gimmicky as it was.

Still better than most things on TV and things do move fast. I'll stick around for the whole season.

Good episode tonight. Starting to focus in story lines and stayed on point. When it did indulge in a tangent (like the classroom scene) it kept it entertaining.

For sure. The classroom scene (and the lead up to it) were money in so many ways.

So, Det. John had a breakdown 5 years ago ....

He's the serial killer, no doubt about it.
yeah, my wife is better at catching those kinds of things than I am, but she caught it a few episodes ago too.

not sure the hate for the season already, I am liking it quite a bit
