American Horror Story: Hotel (Season 5) (2 Viewers)

I was ok with it. Enough to give it a few more episodes.

Hopefully there will be an episode that is centered on the daughter having a slumber party with some hot friends.

I don't know why people here are bashing the show so hard. I thought it was okay. They may have gone too far on the first episode, but I will wait to see how it plays out before I criticize them for that.

The show is poor. I got a laugh when when the wife hired the apparently young, hot and ginger maid. The look on the dude's face was  :excited:

I liked it

Nothing else even close to watch that night/time slot. Maybe you guys missed the young maid scenes? Maybe it tries too hard sometimes to scare you, but that's fine. Lots of back story going on.
The pilot introduced too many characters. They should have spread that out over the next few episodes. I thought it was OK but I don't know how long a haunted house series can last. The "WHY DON'T YOU JUST MOVE OUT?" question is going to weigh heavily soon.
Yep. Too much, too soon.
They need to take a page from Vince Gilligan and/or the Lost guys. Suspense and less is more seems to be the way to go when telling a story. I think they were afraid they'd lose the F/X audience. The opening scene had promise but went down from there.

I'm with most in this thread.. I Really want to like this ..

But the first episode was overload and too many " what you see isn't what you see or is it  " moments.

Right ow it gets a C rating.. Not horrible, but not great..

Will DVR it for a few weeks and give it a couple more viewings.

Finally got around to watching this last night, I liked it. I can see where people are coming from by introducing a lot of characters in the first episode, but I have a feeling few characters will be introduced from here and out and the show will focus on developing the characters from the pilot. Heck, even in the last 5 minutes you find out that apparently the maid is dead and it would appear the patient kid is in cahoots with the maid and Jessica Lange. Learning more backstory from these characters has me more interested than the actual family. Also, how does the ######ed girl look like she's 10 in 1978 and like she's 20 in 2011?!

Someone said they werent sure how this could last mroe than a season. My impression going in was it was going to be a 1 season show regardless of ratings. I guess maybe they could have another season with a new story/family, but Im not expecting that.

Neighbor and daughter are spirits in the house, just like gimp, maid and basement demon.

Wow surprised at the reviews. I enjoyed it quite a bit. Enough creepiness to keep me interested. Didnt the father have problems finding the kid's SS# when he called to report him? Im guessing hes a ghost too.

So I guess they died maybe circa 1988 then judging by the daughter? How can you be sure they are spirits as well? (outside of the daughter appearing too young...that may just be because its hard to find 50ish year old people with down's)ETA: if the gimp is a spirit in the house, how was he talking/visible to the Dad far away from the house, and seemingly trying to help him (although the wry smile at the end of that scene had me 2nd guessing his motive).

and why is his name gimp then, instead of latex suit guy? are we to assume latex suit guy is 1 of the last owners before this family bout the house?

http://www.wearysloth.com/Gallery/ActorsH/52702-15365.gifthat's the gimp from pulp fiction, hence the sharing of the name

This is really disappointing

Saw the pilot. Agree about the too much too soon stuff mentioned earlier. That's forgiveable mistake for a pilot though.

I think the show's got alot of potential, but this really just isn't my thing. I'll watch a couple of times out of my undying loyalty to Connie Britton.

One exchange that had me completely baffled:

Real estate agent: Of course, I have to disclose that the previous owners died in this house. It was a murder-suicide.

Connie B: Really, where did it happen?

Real estate agent: The basement.

Daughter: We'll take it!

I don't think it's been confirmed. Just a strong suspicion. It doesn't appear to me that the down daughter aged at all, and she should be at least 40 years old. And neighbor mom talked about killing the maid, and can slip in and out of the house in the middle of the night. The character I'm not sure about is the kid in therapy. I recall seeing him at school, but I think those may just have been dream sequences.

I took it as the kid thinking that sounded cool and spooky. She clearly has issues as well, so cant say Im surprised.

The daughter definitely looks older than the opening scene, but still too young to have aged 33 years. I dont recall neighbor mom being in the house in the middle of the night. She was there for that late scene when she said she killed the maid, but that appeared to be the morning/afternoon.I dont remember seeing the kid in therapy at school (except for the part where he talked about his dream and killing people and had all of the face makeup/tats). There preview for the rest of the season insinuated he's also a spirit as well to me.

Solid 2nd episode. The one-off of the reproduction killers was cliched, but the action helped fuel the storyline. The scares are occurring too quickly. Two episodes in and Connie always wants to vaminos. I imagine they will find they are too far underwater to sell, but that excuse can only keep them there so long. Better to live in your car than die in your house.

Jessica Tandy is one sexy 62 year old.

Im totally in on this show for the long haul. I think every week is going to be a mind ####. They didnt really introduce any new mainstay characters either, which furthers my thoughts that they will mostly just develop the family, neighbors, maid, and burning guy.

I think they are definitely trying to blur the line with the neighbors being ghosts. Some signs point to yes, others point to no. One interesting thing that makes me think its more likely theyre ghosts is that the mother/daughters clothing, house decor, etc all appear 30 years out of date (for all we know their house is run-down the like haunted house in the pilot but we see it in their eyes). Also, the conversation when she brought the cupcakes was also odd, almost like the mom killed some of her other kids or she did something that lead to her demise/unhappiness.

2 episodes in, my favorite new show hands down.

Wonder if the two people killed in the basement cause some trouble for the family in the sense they are never found? At this point it is all a story that is made up by the Mom and Daughter. When the police follow up on the only suspect found was several houses away, and almost cut in half, and that was her recurring nightmare when speaking to the Dad/Therapist.

She was in the kitchen with the dad when he was zoned out in front of the burning stove and the wife was getting it on with the gimp. May not have been the middle of the night, but it was late night.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking about. Haven't watched episode two yet.

Its possible, although I have a feeling they stick with the ghosts already identified and old ones that are identified (ie the nurses). It will be interesting if they do eventually get found, and if not, Id at least like to know what they did with the bodies. I liked how they linked the girls dreams to her impending death via the house.

Whats up with the ipecac syrup? Did she give that to the mother to throw up (she said she hasnt thrown up from being pregnant yet) or was that to get the intruder sick?

Also, they live next door? Are they ghosts? So confused.

I think it was genuinely to get to the daughter since she's the fearless one. Don't think it had anything to do with the intruder initially, but worked in the story line that way.Since the family hasn't been to the neighbor's house we don't know the level of "reality" that the others exist in. It will take a third party outside the ghosts and family to figure that out. The realtor knew something and will be in the next episode because they want to sell.

Agreed on the cupcakes being for the daughter. I thought that was pretty obvious based on the conversation when she brought them over.As I said earlier, theyre definitely blurring the lines with the neighbors. I think they will continue to make them appear like living people next door until late in the season and end up being ghosts.

Are you for real?
Its an awesome movie, but I didnt realize it was common knowledge to know the name of a character who has 10 minutes of scene time in Pulp Fiction. Do people here watch that movie every couple months or something? Judging by the FFA's apparent obsession with Pink Floyd in the 70's albums threads, Im assuming people here also must think Pulp Fiction is the best movie of the 90's or something.Hell, its not even Tarantino's best movie. That would be Jackie Brown.
