Americans rooting for Putin...wtf (1 Viewer)

Nothing to laugh at - went to the urologist last week and he said my petrostate was almost totally corrupted and doubts i'll be putin it anywhere any time soon.

Putin and his boys don't aren't going to get held up by the same things US troops would be. They aren't going to wait to get shot at before they shoot. They aren't worried about being prosecuted for shooting a potential innocent bystander (why they are in a war zone?). They aren't going to tell the enemy they are about to drop ordinance on them so please leave. They aren't going to have the Intel to take out buildings and trucks but decide not to do it. ISIS made their worst mistake messing with the Russians. They will be ruthless and will have no problem killing every last one of them. We might have avoided a war the last few years but whoever is elected next year will inherit a complete mess.
When I was in Bosnia we had pretty restrictive rules of engagement.  We weren't allowed to indiscriminantly shoot everyone who we thought might be a threat.  The Russians probably have looser rules with regards to when they're allowed to open fire on anything but I don't necessarily think that's anything we should strive to emulate.

I've noticed in my facebook feed that a lot my right leaning friends are throwing up pictures in support of Putin, who will be attacking Isis apparently. WTF is up with that? Has anyone else noticed this? It's like their hate for Obama is so strong, they are rooting on her biggest adversary.
I started this thread a year and a half ago.  It's amazing how well Putin's fake news and propaganda have brainwashed the right.  Scary times.

Nothing to be smug and self righteous about. As with Twitter, there is no requirement that you participate or enter into discussions with people. You can just silently observe and discover that people like Grandpa Rox and jamesbrownkid actually do exist in the real world and rather frighteningly, may be some of your relatives or acquaintances. I generally just lurk and rarely engage my far right relatives outside of providing them a link to snopes to debunk some of their more outrageous claims about Obama, Muslims or Hispanic immigrants.
This was me for years but the stupidity on Facebook became overwhelming and, while I never posted or engaged with anyone, I found myself just getting angry every time I went there. The sheer ignorance and spreading of nonsense was just too much. Even close family started posting racist crap (yes I have close family members who are clearly racist).

i finally deactivated about 6 weeks ago and don't miss it a single bit (except college friends and seeing what was going on in their lives). No doubt in my mind that Facebook (lot of social media in fact) contributes to the dumbing down of society.

Against my begging and pleading, my wife is now back on facebook. I told her I don't want to hear a word about her getting upset when people post stupid crap. I give it a week.
