They don't own him!He has already scored more points than Lacy, Gio, or Rice in my league. What makes you think he is going to fall off so much?

Wrong. Wow you're phenomenally wrong. If that's the case, you should have NO problems giving me 100:1 odds that Ellington is a top 10 RB next year. And 50:1 odds he's a RB2. Because that would be penny stock territory. Mike Gillislee is a penny stock. I think several people in this thread are off their rocker with the J.C. comparisons and talk that Ellington is practically a lock for future success - but you're off your rocker to the other extreme. Ellington has performed amazingly in very limited duty. That at least elevates him above the one in a million shots.Ellington is a penny stock.
Good move man - definition of buy low! It's weird guys are talking about Ray Rice because I traded Ellington for him today.
Keeper or redraft? It's weird guys are talking about Ray Rice because I traded Ellington for him today.
FWIW yesterday I declined Ellington and Garcon for Joique Bell and Demaryius or Jordy (PPR).What exactly is Ellington's trade value right now?
He's out produced rice. He may have been a penny stock in week 2 but that's a long time ago. Now their values are $1.20 Ellington and $1.10 rice based on name value.Ok, using lottery tickets and the stock market in the same analogy isn't working. Ray Rice is actually a lot like AAPL, I agree. You're not going to hit $700 on a $90 stock, but you could take Rice for Ellington and get some value from him if you believe AAPL is going to hit $600. I don't really like AAPL but I wouldn't be surprised if it hit $600 in the next 12 months. Just like I don't really want Ray Rice that much, but I could easily see him putting up solid RB2 numbers next year.
Ellington is a penny stock. His chances of being profitable in the next 12 months are not good. In fact, you just might ride that one down to zero. Maybe you bought it at $0.02 and it's now at $0.10 so your gains have been great. I suggest taking those gains, turning them into Ray Rice and moving along happily.
The conjecture about Ellington being a 3rd round talent or being in the top 3 don't do much for me. The case of Lacy slipping also doesn't make Ellington a more likely player to be a starter next year. His coach will almost certainly pursue a 3 down back in the offseason. I doubt he even gets the courtesy of starting a few games next year like Daryl Richardson did.
yea they missed the ELLINGTON train and are upset lolThey don't own him!He has already scored more points than Lacy, Gio, or Rice in my league. What makes you think he is going to fall off so much?
Not only did they miss it...they purposefully jumped off it. And now they're pi$$3d. You're better than this.Since you're worried about my teams, I've moved Ellington in 1/3 where I owned him, for a 2014 1st from a team currently sitting at 3-5. That's a huge value bump from the initial investment of a late 3rd six months ago, and I'm also hugely deep at RB in that particular league. He's currently on the block in the other two, and drawing interest, but nothing has come in that I felt the need to jump at.Not only did they miss it...they purposefully jumped off it. Spot on there. Can't disagree. Not what it used to be. Most of the experienced owners that I play with seem to be including a good chunk of skepticism in their views on the guy -- yes, he's exceeded expectations. Yes, he's looked far better on the eyeball test than his measurables would have indicated. But IMO the deck is still stacked against him as far as turning into a guy that you can count on to provide a consistent weekly advantage in your starting lineup. Arizona's offense is bad, particularly the line, which caps the upside of every offensive player on that roster. Arians can't be trusted to give Ellington consistent touches -- he hasn't ever been a coach that features RBs in the passing game to the extent that other coaches / systems do.
It speaks volumes about the decline of these boards that virtually every dissenting view on a player is shouted down by a chorus of personal attacks and "you're just pissed that you missed out" from the redraft work league Kool Aid crew. The ratio of noise : decent discussion here is by far the worst it's ever been.
Yes, but will he outproduce Rice for weeks 9-16? Will he outproduce Rice in 2014? That's the real question. If you can find someone who will give you Rice, you take it.Banger said:He's out produced rice. He may have been a penny stock in week 2 but that's a long time ago. I don't think Rice will outproduce Ellington this year....is it possible? sure...probable? I'd say no...why would it? he's looked horrible and their line is garbage...not sure if he's hurt or not but I don't see Rice's situation changing/improving while there's reason to think based on his performance that Ellington's role could continue to grow. They are looking for ways to get the ball into his hands, get him in space and exploit his big play ability.Yes, but will he outproduce Rice for weeks 9-16? Will he outproduce Rice in 2014? Not offended whatsoever. In fact, just a few posts up I praised a guy for flipping Ellington for Rice so I agree with you. There's a way to get your point across without condescension. "hose down the circle jerk"...yeah, I'm the one being defensive. If you couldn't care less, you'd make your point and move on.Ummm... yeah about that... no.
Just dropped in to hose down the circle jerk with some realistic probabilities. If you are so defensive that you need to come up with a conspiracy theory that we realists are just looking for negative confirmation bias then you've got issues. Even another Ellington owner said the safe play is to assume Ellington doesn't pan out yet you take me saying it to mean I'm vested in the situation one way or another and have let emotions get in the way of logic. I don't really care if he becomes a starter for the Cards next year, I am just telling you guys that it probably won't happen so I'd suggest people stop turning down trades for Ray Rice-esque players. If that greatly offends you then you need to take a step back.
This is pure gold. You complain about the personal attacks and then go on to personally attack. We were having a good discussion a few pages back about his workload, skill-set and future value - I even happen to agree with you on several points. I love the kid.Why on earth would anyone think that Ellington will not start next year? He is effing 200 lbs. He can most certainly carry the load.
Oh.....and he's freaky lightning like fast.
Where's the personal attack in there? I'm referring to an entire class of posters here who add zero to any discussion outside of talking about WDIS this week, "all aboard the hype train CHOO CHOO," etc -- ie clearly not you, and clearly not directed at anyone personally. I guess you're right that we have zero to discuss if you're good with the type of "discussion" I quoted initially. This is pure gold. Starting him. Not over much. I have lamar and pierre thomas alre ady playing with Ridley and vereen on the bench. So Mendenhall looks like he's back this week and Arians seems committed to sticking with Mendy as the starter.
Have to think Ellington will still get a decent size of the pie, but anyone starting him this week? And if so, over whom?
13 carries for 40 yards would be an improvement for mendy.Starting Ellington with confidence. Along with Reggie Bush and Lamar Miller (redraft) and Lamar Miller and Pierre Thomas (dynasty). Trent Richardson is firmly on the bench now in both leagues. Sheesh what a nightmare he has been. And Donald Brown...shows he is the better runner so far.....I am not in denial.
Coaching absurdity reigns if Mendy continues to get fed for 13 carries and 40 yards.
I expect Ellington to again show why he should be the lead dog in Arizona. And it does not have to be a monster performance....just show how he can get chunk yardage, catch the ball...make things happen....while a washed up Mendy plods for 3 yards.
Sounds so familiar (Lamar Miller vs Daniel Thomas).

I always enjoy a good Ellington over Rice - especially with a nice Chianti.starting him over Rice..Just cant look at another disappointing stat line from Rice in my scoring this week...
Same here, with no confidence vs HOU. Ellington and MJD over Rice with a side of Ivory on a bye. Best hope is the Texans defense gets lost in the wash once or twice like the Falcons last week. But I'm expecting a 9-40 and 3-30 kinda day in a week to forget for Andre. Hope I'm wrong. At least he has a snowballs chance in hell of busting a long one - unlike Rice.starting him over Rice..Just cant look at another disappointing stat line from Rice in my scoring this week...
Starting Mike James and MJD over Ellington, S-Jax and Lamar Miller in a .5 PPR league.Starting him. Not over much. James for sure. Le'Veon is the safe play - I'd probably bench Ellington UNLESS I figured I needed some unexpected pts. vs. my opponent this week.Having a hard time putting him in my lineup. Have to choose two out of Ellington/L'Veon Bell/Mike James.....he is the odd man out right now, but mostly because I like the potential of James on MNF and Bell seems pretty sure to get 15-18 touches.
yes agreed but this situation is worse, cuz at least daniel thomas is young and decent and has some legs. Mendy is like worn old dirty underwear and Ellington is like a fresh pair of White NIKE socks...... ##### so cold. Hopefully arians gets his head out of his A##Todem said:Starting Ellington with confidence. Along with Reggie Bush and Lamar Miller (redraft) and Lamar Miller and Pierre Thomas (dynasty). Thing about Bell though is that he will get looks on the goal line. That could easily add a couple TDs to an otherwise medicore day.FantasyTrader said:James for sure.
