locally I have heard they are intentionally limiting Andre's reps to keep him healthy and he still doesn't pass protect as well as mendenhall.Probably a good start in PPR leagues but his production isn't going to skyrocket from current production.

Interesting. I always thought it was a foregone conclusion that the reason Mendy continues getting early down work is Ellington was still learning pass protection. Shocked he's measuring higher than Mendy. But that has to mean great things for his dynasty value A.B.A. (After Bruce Arians)

It's just another excuse for Arians to keep playing his boy Mendy. It doesn't matter if it holds any weight or not.

Last week showed us a lot. I really thought he was going to give Ellington more opportunities and keep him more involved in the offense but that wasn't the case at all. He was used to CAA(Cover Arians ###) and only got the playing time after Mendy failed and failed repeatedly. Its almost like Ellington only gets chances when Arians knows he absolutely has to get something going at that point in the game. Ok the offense has done nothing the last three series and now we are down by 7 better put Ellington in for this series. They proceed to move the ball and score then its right back to Mendy next series.

Also its disappointing how they use him in the passing game as well. No normal RB screens, no little WR type screens out in the flats to get him the ball quickly in situations where all he has to do is make one guy miss for a big gain. Most of the targets I have seen are long developing routs downfield or to the sidelines. He doesn't even get any dump off passes because he's not in on most obvious passing situations.

It's frustrating because we can see the potential...this dude is ####### lightning in a bottle every time he gets the ball. I want to play this guy because I could see him having a lot of 100+total yrd 2TD type games on only 12-15 touches but I just don't think he's being used properly and probably never will be used correctly by this coach. Sproles was criminally miss used in a very similar offensive scheme for years.

Arians obviously has some weird dude love bigger backs. Mendy will get every opportunity and then some, he will only turn to Ellington when he absolutely has too...

I figure he is getting the jamaal charles treatment at this point (i'm not saying he is the next charles, just being treated like he was)...not built like a typical back, huge playmaker and solid in every facit of the game, but the coaches have a mindset that holds them back. Either a new offensive coordinator will take over and unleash it or he will be buried behind bigger backs until its too late.

Actually that statement is correct. Mendenhall had, far and away, his best game of the season sans fumble. But shouldn't his "best" (where he averaged 3.2ypc) tell you something?

Only if you're losing. If you're winning, you can be as stubborn and defiant as you want. In fact, it's often cited as an admirable trait. Best thing that could happen to Ellington is the Cardinals stop winning.

bro. spot on post. Good analysis and agree 100 percent. The offense has some a different dynamic and shape to it with Ellington out their. It's sort of how Gio transforms the bengals offense into a formidable attack. None of these defenses are scared of Mendy/bjge..... u kidding. They have nightmares of Ellington/gio in space..

after Ellington's breakout game Palmer was specifically quoted saying as much. He said how much the defense has to watch him and account for him in the offense when he's on the field which frees things up for others. Makes perfect sense...if Mendy's the sole guy in the backfield are you worried about him getting outside and taking it to the house? uummm, no. So the defense can commit less guys and drop their coverage. When Ellington is in the backfield and he takes nearly 20% of his carries for 15 yards or more you have to be very worried of where he is on the field.

Opposing defenses/coordinators LOVE Arians.

yes it seems like a no brainer for even the avg fan who doesn't watch football much.... It's baffling and criminal how they are using Ellington.. He should get 15 carries and 4-7 catches a game.... That's just Bs giving him 13 touches when he said 20. That arians is a complete tool and the cards are winning in spite of his #######... You can quote and post that I stand behind that 100 percent.. Pure shame. The guy is a complete nut job and I don't know what he is thinking.

No need to be a ####. I've held Ellingotn for a while now and if you look back I was super excited about grabbing him (and posted in here). I leave my roster in my sig because I use AC a lot.

I'm sure your a well respected member in here with your big 64k posts but being an ### doesn't do you an favors in the eyes of others in the forum.

My post holds value, regardless. I traded Ellington after holding him for a while with the expectation of an increase in carries (esp after Mendenhall's toe inj.). But obviously as every has reiterated for 2 pages now, Arians has some sort of mancrush with Mendy. Additionally, it does seem like there's a complex of "Mendy's bound do breakout if we keep sneaking Ellington in to cover the loss in YPC". This is the point of the season where you decide if you're riding out with Ellington or trading away. I chose to trade away, and I would suspect others in here would like to know if people are dropping or buying.

So I don't see this changing any time soon with Jax. Indy and Philly coming up may force some change if Ellington is still under utilized and they lose. By then its week 14 though. Have to hope you make the playoffs without Ellington helping you till then.

I understand the Jags are giving up a lot to fantasy RBs, but I would have thought a tougher matchup is better for Ellington since the Cards might be more inclined to use him if trying to spark their offense in a comeback from behind and/or in the passing game if they are forced to throw.

If the Cards go up big on the Jags, I can see a lot of Mendy/Taylor game killing carries in the second half.

I understand the Jags are giving up a lot to fantasy RBs, but I would have thought a tougher matchup is better for Ellington since the Cards might be more inclined to use him if trying to spark their offense in a comeback from behind and/or in the passing game if they are forced to throw.

If the Cards go up big on the Jags, I can see a lot of Mendy/Taylor game killing carries in the second half.

Ellington has now earned a 10-15 touch role regardless of matchup. While I think you are correct that the bruisers would be leaned on late to protect a lead, the idea is Ellington would be a big part of how they got that lead. I can be guilty of this too, but don't overthink it - the Jags are a great matchup.

Why is Ellington ranked so highly for this week? I'm leaning Ellington over Lacy in a ppr but I would be a whole lot more comfortable about it had Arians involved him more in the pass offense last week.
