Not like middle aged Eli is going to complete a pass anyway.Bad_Mo said:Young man Williams shouldn't blow blocking assignments jeopardizing the safety of his QB.ShaHBucks said:Old man Couglin depriving me right now
I think you missed their tight end.Jennings was the only good player on offense for the Giants tonight.
It's a plus that he's even being targeted. I didn't think the drop was that bad. Eli beamed it at his back shoulder. He's a LOAD and he runs with good speed and decent agility. He finally had some lanes to work with this week, so he looked more like his college self than he did earlier this season. He's not the most graceful back, but I'm a big believer in his running ability. Might be top 15-20 in the league purely in terms of toting the rock. Dynamic power. More explosive than people realize.
Did have a bad drop though IIRC. Stone hands.
It wasn't a great throw, but he should have caught it. More worrisome was that he looked overwhelmed even trying to adjust to the throw.Agree that it was a plus he was targeted. Was also a plus that Coughlin kept him in for the next play, despite the drop. It's a plus that he's even being targeted. I didn't think the drop was that bad. He kinds of reminds me of ex giant Ahmad Bradshaw only thicker and not nearly as gifted at catching the ball.He looked okay. Not great. Not much wiggle. Seems tight in the shoulders and hips. Strikes me as a back who will get what's blocked for him and occasionally just plow someone over with a highlight reel type play.
Well sure, maybe. Jennings is 29 years old, and he doesn't exactly have a history of perfect health. Could he have Fred Jackson style longevity, making Andre useless forever? I guess....but a more likely outcome is that Williams gets a few more carries as the year goes on, and gets a reasonable shot at splitting time next year. Jennings' contract is a 4-year deal, but only $3m was guaranteed, which means we have no idea what happens to him next year. Personally, I fully expect him to be in NY next year, barring a major injury.RealReactions said:Williams will stay irrelevant unless Jennings goes down or has another 30+ carry game and they have a short week. Jennings is a 3down back and the goal line back so just pump the brakes a little bit.
Agree 100%. I'm surprised they have thrown to him some. That is encouraging. It's a plus that he's even being targeted. I didn't think the drop was that bad. I'm not saying he hasn't but has he really? If that opinion is based on coach speak I am not impressed.I believe Williams has feature back written all over him. He hasn't even scratched the surface yet. Williams gets flamed a lot for his lack of receiving ability, but he's improved tremendously since being drafted. I have no doubt he'll eventually be a capable receiver.
Jennings is no slouch, but he'll be 30 in March. Williams could have the starting gig as soon as next season. He has top-10 upside in that offense, IMO.
I'm not sure how his pass-catching skills looked in training camp with the Giants. But I do remember reading that he looked much improved catching the ball at his pro day.I'm not saying he hasn't but has he really? He is never going to develop into a pass catching guy though and will always be pulled in passing situations even if/when Jennings moves on and Williams will have a chance to start.I'm not sure how his pass-catching skills looked in training camp with the Giants. Andre Williams will take over as the Giants' feature back in the absence of Rashad Jennings (knee).
Jennings compared his MCL sprain to one that he suffered in 2012 with the Jaguars, costing him two games. A two-game absence would give Williams starts against the Eagles and Cowboys, immediately putting the workhorse rookie into the RB1 conversation. The Giants could work around their Week 8 bye for Jennings' return. Peyton Hillis would take over as Williams' breather back.

Andre Williams - RB - Giants
Coach Tom Coughlin said he is "very confident" in Andre Williams' ability to take on a bigger role.
Coughlin is notoriously hard on rookies, but gave Williams 31-of-37 snaps after Rashad Jennings (knee) went down Sunday. That included some third downs and 13 hurry-up snaps, leaving Peyton Hillis to just sprinkle in as a pass protector. With Jennings expected to sit out through the Week 8 bye, Williams is a serious RB1 candidate in plus matchups against the Eagles and Cowboys. Just realize that Rashad Jennings is fully expected to get his featured job back once healthy, likely after that bye.

Whaaa? He's a way better play then SJax the next 2 weeks at least....Is he more important then steven jackson in half ppr? I don't know enough about this guy to make the drop.
If by "he" you mean "Andre Williams", and by "had" you mean "has", and by "DeMarco Murray" you mean "C.J. spiller", then I agree.I think he had the potential to outproduce DeMarco Murray for the rest of the year.
Corrected. Keep swimming my friend...Hawks will not sleep on this guy...he'll be on tons of championship rostersIf by "he" you mean "Andre Williams", and by "had" you mean "has", and by "DeMarco Murray" you mean "C.J. spiller", then I agree.I think he had the potential to outproduce DeMarco Murray for the rest of the year.
Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm high on Williams. But nobody puts DeMarco in the corner.Corrected. good sign or bad coaching?I'm surprised they threw to him twice last week. He had two receptions. I thought it was a misprint but there it was, two receptions.
Whats Rut roh? Thats nothing no one has known. He is a NFL player, he can catch if they throw to him, may he drop a few but who doesnt? You and others are allowed to over react though, his chances to get a TD are as good as anyones in the league if not the best. Who they gonna trust? Hillis?Rut roh
ESPN Giants reporter Dan Graziano said the Giants do not trust rookie RB Andre Williams in the passing game.
"They absolutely do not trust him as a receiver, nor should they, based on what we've seen of his hands," Graziano said. "And I'm not entirely certain they trust him in pass protection yet either." Williams will start and get a healthy workload if the Giants hang around with the Eagles, but his opportunities could become a concern if the Giants get down big early. He is a solid RB2 this week, but is somewhat of a risky play.
Although his pass-game chops have been understandably criticized, PFF has credited Williams without a single quarterback hit or hurry allowed on 13 pass-blocking chances, and Williams secured both of his Week 5 targets for 18 yards

Correct I said "his chances to get a TD are as good as anyones in the league if not the best." He is the starting RB on an offense that has been clicking, we can expect that he will get the GL work from previous games, averaging 17.5 carries the last two games and has scored in each of his last two games. How can that not be interpreted as one of if not the best chances to score this weekend? The best? Really?Whats Rut roh? Thats nothing no one has known. i'm starting both over lamar miller.Really going back and forth between Andre and Joique in my ppr...with Bush being iffy and all.
The Giants' website projects Andre Williams to get 20-25 carries this week.
With Rashad Jennings sidelined, Williams is going to have an every-down role against the Eagles. He doesn't contribute in the receiving game, but Peyton Hillis isn't an upgrade in pass protection and unlikely to cut into his snaps. PFF has credited Williams without a single quarterback hurry on 13 pass-blocking chances. He should be a lock for 20-plus touches against a Philadelphia defense that's allowing 132 rush yards per game. Rotoworld ranks Williams as the No. 12 running back for Week 6.
Not sure but he looked natural when catching the ball. Maybe his hands aren't great but at least he is fluid when he does catch the ball.good sign or bad coaching?I'm surprised they threw to him twice last week. He had two receptions. I thought it was a misprint but there it was, two receptions.
Right, I think its being overplayed that he can't catch at this point. Will we see him running wheel routs? Hell no, but he'll be fine as someone you can dump the ball off to.Not sure but he looked natural when catching the ball.
