Andrew Luck..... Love fest inside.... (6 Viewers)

He has 40 million in dead cap if he's released.

It's also likely that they are in denial about his situation, and also, it's Andrew Luck.  You don't get rid of him until you know for SURE he's done.
I think there's almost no chance he's done. Now, will he come back and look like Dalton? That's the real question at this point to me.

This seems pretty unique in my 30 odd years of watching football.  Maybe it's not that unique of an injury and the way the colts have handled it is unique.

Either way, I'm a Luck owner, and I'm not optimistic.  If he isn't throwing by August I'm probably going to cut him.  I just can't carry him much longer and it's not like he is 25.

I got to thinking I could get him cheap with all the doom and gloom on this thread. No bites or counter offers. Luck's still ranked 63 on fantasypros, ahead of Cam Newton.

There's probably not many owners posting on this thread right now, but hypothetically what would you take for Luck right now?
I'm an owner.  I'm honestly not that worried.  He plays or he doesn't, I have a backup plan (but it's not like I have a Top12 guy sitting on my bench).

If I could get a Top15ish guy in return without giving up the store, I'd consider it.

What have you been offering?

You mean top 15 qb? This has been about my offers for him.

Definitely not not Michael Thomas top 15.

Colts coach Frank Reich insists Andrew Luck (shoulder) is "real close" to throwing.

It's been 522 days since Luck appeared in an NFL football game. Reich also intimated it will be Luck who decides when to actually resume throwing. Despite the unease created by Luck's extraordinarily long absence, every indication has him on track for Week 1. As long as he avoids setbacks, Luck should be safe to draft as an upside QB1 this summer.

Andrew Luck - QB - Colts

Andrew Luck (shoulder) resumed throwing in Tuesday's minicamp session.

Luck, who hasn't played in a game in 527 days, had not thrown a football since last October. Observed by many members of the media, Luck did not appear to be throwing particularly difficult or high-velocity passes, but it's a crucial step in the right direction ahead of next month's start of training camp. It's important to remember that is all this is, a step. Luck still has a long ways to go before being declared ready for Week 1.

This should get it's own "Breaking News" thread. :D

Has to be good news.

Dr. Irsay said he he would have no restrictions for training camp. Irsay needs to never speak or appear publicly again.

Andrew Luck (shoulder) was throwing a high school ball in Tuesday's minicamp session.

Luck also said afterward he has thrown "The Duke," which is what he calls a real NFL football. He's apparently been throwing for two weeks. The size difference between an NFL and high school ball is minimal — it's mostly about weight — but it's still not quite what we needed to hear. Even with the high school ball, Luck was not uncorking screamers. Despite all that, owner Jim Irsay pledged afterward that Luck would have no "limitations" for training camp. Right now, that sounds more like a hope than a guarantee. Luck is making progress but has a long way to go.

Truly an underrated bizarre story. It is possible they were not enamored with any of the rookie QBs and were fine with building at other positions. Maybe the comfort level with Brissett is high enough.
yeah I think you're hitting on something..Brissett is the guy in Indy. It really is time to write off A. Luck as an NFL player.the signs are there.how much more do we (not) need to see? how many more times do we have to hear 'he 'should be ready' he 'will throw in the future' 'he's not throwing now' ..

put a fork in him career over..there's  a reason he ran to the office to sign the contract extension so blasted quickly..he KNEW he was injured at the time he signed! he had to have known..otherwise, why not negotiate?

on another note, Brissett was one of a handful of the most accurate passers in the NFL last season, according to PFF..so that's likely the reason that they didnt get a QB in the draft.

Don't post when high, folks.

Reggie Wayne @ReggieWayne_17

I had the honor of catching passes from Andrew Luck today at Colts minicamp... Nice tight spirals and it had some power behind it.

After yesterday’s news, I’m surprised there isn’t more action on this thread. I’m a dynasty owner, and given our league structure, I was ready to cut bait, but this may change my mind. I hope we see him in some pre-season action.

He's my "swing for the fence" pick in a super flex league. Can't ever discount this guys toughness and how much he loves the game.
He's certainly become a potentially tremendous value pick since he's there pretty late in most mocks - of course if he looks good during the preseason his ADP will move up a bit.

Colts coach Frank Reich expects Andrew Luck (shoulder) to appear in the team's preseason opener against the Seahawks on August 9.

Luck will practice on both Thursday and Friday this week before taking a scheduled day off on Saturday. This falls in line with comments made by GM Chris Ballard, who previously said Luck would be given frequent days off to preserve him for the regular season. When Luck takes the field for Indy's preseason opener, it will be his first game action in 19 months following an arduous recovery from shoulder surgery.

#Colts are "emphasizing a quicker, shorter passing game" under new HC Frank Reich. If properly executed, should lift some burden from offensive line & reduce hits on Andrew Luck.

Andrew Luck went 19-of-22, including 12-of-14 in 11-on-11 situations, in the Colts' first full-padded practice Sunday.

It's not exactly a regular season game, but Colts beat raved throughout the evening as Luck returned to form. It was his first full-padded practice since the end of the 2016 season. Luck reportedly hit T.Y. Hilton in stride for two gains of 30-plus yards and had a touchdown pass dropped by Jack Doyle. If Luck continues to progress and takes the field in Indy's preseason opener, it will be his first game action in 19 months.

Proof will be in the pudding... let’s see how he looks in preseason. IMO I’ll likely still not draft him as I expect some fanboy to take him as a top 5 QB if he looks good in preseason.

While there is a slim chance he finishes there, I think it’s more likely he sees complications at some point this season or is even possibly forced to shut down at some point. He’s gone from not throwing at all for over a year, to suddenly right back into gameplay.

QB position is far too deep this year to risk your season on Luck’s shoulder. Especially considering the hot garbage that is the rest of the Colts squad.

I think you will see a much improved Colts team in 2018.  The OL is better and the defense is better.  There are question marks at CB and WR (imo) however.  "Hot garbage" isn't the term I would use to describe the 2018 Colts.  As for Luck, it sounds like you've made up your mind.  Perhaps you traded him recently and want to believe he will be shut down at some point this season.  I wouldn't bet the house on it.

I posted this is another Colts thread, but Indy was a much much better team last year than most realize. They were winning 9 games going into the 4th quarter last season. I am way in on Luck right now. I am worried once he plays in preseason he won't be such a deal right now. Get him in best ball while you can I suppose.

Well, I mean, 2 months back nobody even knew whether he'd ever throw a football again let alone participate in camp. Now you have to see it in the pre-season to believe it.

No matter what ailment you have, any doctor will tell you to rest. Except maybe obesity. I don't understand why you're suspicious he has healed after resting his shoulder. I can't answer as to why it took so long but if he doesn't have any pain when throwing the ball, I'd say his shoulder has healed. And especially since he has maintained his level of play.

Tickle me pink that people still have these worries because I can get him pretty cheap for a little while longer, although not at the same price as May. I'll buy all my shares now before the price goes up to normal levels.

Scroll back on the thread... I’ve not owned him anytime in the last several years. I’ve been one of the voices of reason calling the Colts ownership BS about his impending return every step of the way.

Now, finally, we have reason to be optimistic. He’s throwing...a football.. in practice. That’s leaps and bounds ahead of wang we’ve seen in years.

However we still have a QB coming off a mysterious injury that lingered WAY longer than expected, to a part of the shoulder that often carries a risk of never returning to form in throwing sports... on a QB who’s hasn’t thrown a competitive pass in the NFL in a LONG time.

Does that mean he won’t return to form this year? Of course not. Does it mean that rust, lingering issues that limit throwing motion, or risk of setback aren’t VERY real concerns? Of course not.

As of now, Luck is a High risk pick... not one I’m willing to take at his likely price. That may change once we see him at game speed, but for now I’m still not on board.

You can feel free to call me crazy.. folks have been doing it for almost two years in here.... I’m used to it.

I love how every team is “projected to be much improved” going into every season. :D

Vegas has the Colts at 6-10. I’m not sure that’s “much improved” from 4-12, but If you believe they will win 7+ games, Vegas would love to take your action

You’re kinda proving my point. Indy had been saying he’s “about to start throwing” every month or two for the last couple years.

Now suddenly he goes from “unable to throw” to “maintaining level of play”?

Forgive me if I take practice reps in a Red Jersey at 50% game speed with a grain of salt before claiming he’s maintained his “level of play” ;)

And to be clear, I’ve agree wholeheartedly his price will continue to rise heading into Draft season. He’s unlikely to experience setbacks in a non-game speed red-jersey environment. He will begin to face more significant tests in the next couple weeks. Then we’ll start narrowing down some of the risk factors.

Just grabbed luck in a draftmaster league at the 11.06 spot.  He is my first QB taken.  Some of the better QBs still on the board:

Carr

Goff

Manning

Mariota

Keenum

Winston

Dalton

Mahomes

A. Smith
