This seems pretty unique in my 30 odd years of watching football. Maybe it's not that unique of an injury and the way the colts have handled it is unique.
Either way, I'm a Luck owner, and I'm not optimistic. If he isn't throwing by August I'm probably going to cut him. I just can't carry him much longer and it's not like he is 25.

I'm an owner. I'm honestly not that worried. He plays or he doesn't, I have a backup plan (but it's not like I have a Top12 guy sitting on my bench).
If I could get a Top15ish guy in return without giving up the store, I'd consider it.

Andrew Luck (shoulder) resumed throwing in Tuesday's minicamp session.
Luck, who hasn't played in a game in 527 days, had not thrown a football since last October. Observed by many members of the media, Luck did not appear to be throwing particularly difficult or high-velocity passes, but it's a crucial step in the right direction ahead of next month's start of training camp. It's important to remember that is all this is, a step. Luck still has a long ways to go before being declared ready for Week 1.

Luck also said afterward he has thrown "The Duke," which is what he calls a real NFL football. He's apparently been throwing for two weeks. The size difference between an NFL and high school ball is minimal — it's mostly about weight — but it's still not quite what we needed to hear. Even with the high school ball, Luck was not uncorking screamers. Despite all that, owner Jim Irsay pledged afterward that Luck would have no "limitations" for training camp. Right now, that sounds more like a hope than a guarantee. Luck is making progress but has a long way to go.

yeah I think you're hitting on something..Brissett is the guy in Indy. It really is time to write off A. Luck as an NFL player.the signs are there.how much more do we (not) need to see? how many more times do we have to hear 'he 'should be ready' he 'will throw in the future' 'he's not throwing now' ..
put a fork in him career over..there's a reason he ran to the office to sign the contract extension so blasted quickly..he KNEW he was injured at the time he signed! he had to have known..otherwise, why not negotiate?
on another note, Brissett was one of a handful of the most accurate passers in the NFL last season,according to PFF..so that's likely the reason that they didnt get a QB in the draft.

He's certainly become a potentially tremendous value pick since he's there pretty late in most mocks - of course if he looks good during the preseason his ADP will move up a bit.

Proof will be in the pudding... let’s see how he looks in preseason. IMO I’ll likely still not draft him as I expect some fanboy to take him as a top 5 QB if he looks good in preseason.
While there is a slim chance he finishes there, I think it’s more likely he sees complications at some point this season or is even possibly forced to shut down at some point. He’s gone from not throwing at all for over a year, to suddenly right back into gameplay.
QB position is far too deep this year to risk your season on Luck’s shoulder. Especially considering the hot garbage that is the rest of the Colts squad.

I think you will see a much improved Colts team in 2018. The OL is better and the defense is better. There are question marks at CB and WR (imo) however. "Hot garbage" isn't the term I would use to describe the 2018 Colts. As for Luck, it sounds like you've made up your mind. Perhaps you traded him recently and want to believe he will be shut down at some point this season. I wouldn't bet the house on it.

I posted this is another Colts thread, but Indy was a much much better team last year than most realize. They were winning 9 games going into the 4th quarter last season. I am way in on Luck right now. I am worried once he plays in preseason he won't be such a deal right now. Get him in best ball while you can I suppose.

Well, I mean, 2 months back nobody even knew whether he'd ever throw a football again let alone participate in camp. Now you have to see it in the pre-season to believe it.
No matter what ailment you have, any doctor will tell you to rest. Except maybe obesity. I don't understand why you're suspicious he has healed after resting his shoulder. I can't answer as to why it took so long but if he doesn't have any pain when throwing the ball, I'd say his shoulder has healed. And especially since he has maintained his level of play.
Tickle me pink that people still have these worries because I can get him pretty cheap for a little while longer, although not at the same price as May. I'll buy all my shares now before the price goes up to normal levels.

Scroll back on the thread... I’ve not owned him anytime in the last several years. I’ve been one of the voices of reason calling the Colts ownership BS about his impending return every step of the way.
Now, finally, we have reason to be optimistic. He’s throwing...a football.. in practice. That’s leaps and bounds ahead of wang we’ve seen in years.
However we still have a QB coming off a mysterious injury that lingered WAY longer than expected, to a part of the shoulder that often carries a risk of never returning to form in throwing sports... on a QB who’s hasn’t thrown a competitive pass in the NFL in a LONG time.
Does that mean he won’t return to form this year? Of course not. Does it mean that rust, lingering issues that limit throwing motion, or risk of setback aren’t VERY real concerns? Of course not.
As of now, Luck is a High risk pick... not one I’m willing to take at his likely price. That may change once we see him at game speed, but for now I’m still not on board.
You can feel free to call me crazy.. folks have been doing it for almost two years in here.... I’m used to it.

I love how every team is “projected to be much improved” going into every season.
Vegas has the Colts at 6-10. I’m not sure that’s “much improved” from 4-12, but If you believe they will win 7+ games, Vegas would love to take your action

And to be clear, I’ve agree wholeheartedly his price will continue to rise heading into Draft season. He’s unlikely to experience setbacks in a non-game speed red-jersey environment. He will begin to face more significant tests in the next couple weeks. Then we’ll start narrowing down some of the risk factors.
