Any H. Nicks owners concerned about his ankle (1 Viewer)

Read reports he is dealing with an ankle injury. Said it is minor and "nothing to worry about" but I need him this week. Have people heard anything else. Anyone in the New York area?

I don't think you're going to find anything newer than what your quoting... that statement was like 10 hours ago, and he's spent most of the time in between sleeping. You can drive yourself crazy worry about little injuries like this. Just wait and see what his practice status is for Thursday and Friday. There doesn't seem to be any reason to be worried... I wouldn't expect another 3 TDs, but that has nothing to do with his ankle.

Yeah, I'm more concerned with the Giants running the ball 40 times at Indy's weak run defense.

There is a chance that Indy's embarrassing display has them gearing up to stop the run...on the other hand, their run D may suck so bad they can't stop it.

Hopefully Manning throws a few TD's early and the Giants have to play catch up. Nicks will see plenty of balls this way.
First names would help when discussing the quarterbacks in the Giants / Colts matchup. :lmao:

Teams are going to try to run on Indy all year. Keeping the ball out of Peyton's hands is the only way to beat them. That said, the Giants are going to have to score in order to keep up with the Colts and the Manning Bowl promises to be a high scoring affair. I like Eli to have a nice game, but it could be Smith or Manningham that gets the TDs this week. I have Nicks in multiple leagues and I think he's going to continue breaking out, but I expect him to be up and down all year. That's just the nature of the WR position outside of a few uber-elite players.

(Rotoworld) Updating a previous item, the Giants expect Hakeem Nicks (ankle) to return to practice on Thursday. Analysis: We'll know more then, but this is confirmation that the team doesn't believe Nicks' injury is serious. He should be in the starting lineup against the Colts.

per RotoTimes:

Hakeem Nicks (ankle) is expected to fully participate in Giants practice on Friday, according to the New York Daily News.

Our View:He may be limited again on Thursday, but doesn't appear to be in any danger of sitting out on Sunday against the Colts. Expect official word to come on Friday.

Oh boy...

"Hakeem Nicks (ankle) is being held out of practice once again on Thursday.

Now we have some concern. Nicks says the injury he suffered early in Sunday's win over the Panthers is no big deal, but this says that he still has pain or swelling. Nicks is headed for a questionable tag on Friday's injury report."

even AJ can have a 3 for 30 day... I just feel like Eli will want to keep up with peyton they cant run every play.. ELI will be looking to his Playmaker early and often and he should rack up 20 points or more in ppr.....

:bag: ny daily news says he's back

On a positive note for the Giants, DE Osi Umenyiora (knee soreness) and WR Hakeen Nicks (ankle) were both back after missing Wednesday but LB/special teams ace Chase Blackburn was nowhere to be seen.
seems like some conflicting reports, i read a rapid report earlier he was listed as inactive so no idea if he's just there and not practicing or if he's actually participating.

While Hakeem Nicks remains on sidelines, Osi Umenyiora returns to Giants practice

Wide receiver Hakeem Nicks has not practiced since his three-touchdown performance on Sunday. Nursing an ankle injury suffered early in the game, Nicks was out of practice Wednesday and did not practice during the portion of today's practice open to reporters.

DE Osi Umenyiora (knee) returned to action. Not sure why Nicks isn't back yet. CB Bruce Johnson also out with an unknown injury. #nyg 37 minutes ago via web

Giants WR Hakeem Nicks missed practice for a second straight day Thursday as New York prepares for their Week 2 game at the Colts. If healthy, Nicks, who emerged as QB Eli Manning's favorite target with three touchdown grabs Week 1 against the Panthers, might not get as many looks against Indy. The Giants are facing a Colts team that gave up 231 rushing yards to Arian Foster last week and will likely look to involve running backs Ahmad Bradshaw and Brandon Jacobs in the game plan more. The Texans beat the Colts last week even though QB Matt Schaub, the NFL's leading passer a year ago, threw for only 107 yards.(Updated 09/16/2010).Fantasy AnalysisNicks rolled his ankle in the second quarter of Sunday's game, but considering one of his touchdown grabs came in the third quarter, you should be too worried just yet about him playing in Week 2. You should be worried about how the Giants plan to use him, though. The Texans gave the rest of the league a formula for beating the Colts, and the Giants would be crazy not to follow it. Chances are they won't go to the same extremes the Texans did, which means Nicks could get a touchdown grab as Manning's preferred target, but you shouldn't expect another multi-score game. Treat him as a high-end No. 2 Fantasy WR.

Sportsline fantasy updates are some of the slowest so that was probably the same report they put out this morning.

It's obvious to me that he has a minor injury (that he played through... WELL)... and that he will be playing again this weekend. There is no need for them to risk making this minor injury a major one by having him practice right away.

I'm not a Nicks owner, but I want him to play even if it's as a decoy... S Smith owner here. Manningham doesn't scare anyone. No K Boss his week either. I am pretty sure he'll be out there, but how effective will he be?

Updating a previous report, New York Giants WR Hakeem Nicks (ankle) was on the field at the start of practice but could not finish because of his ankle injury, reports Hank Gola, of the New York Daily News. Head coach Tom Coughlin said the team hopes Nicks will be able to play Week 2.

;)

Not i'm officially worried.

Uh oh. I wasn't worried at all until I heard this. Now possibly a GTD...ugh :lmao:

NOT GOOD for me as they play Sunday Night Football so I will need to make lineup changes as I do not have any other NYG or Indy WRs. I'll probably have to sub someone else because if he is a GTD and does not play then I'm screwed.

I'm looking at picking up one of the Saints WRs as they have the Monday Night game this week. Lance Moore and Devery Henderson are on my WW. Could be a decent back up plan if Nicks ends up not playing on Sunday night.

I'm nervous, but fortunate to have Meachem as an option on MNF, so I'll just wait until I hear how the pregame reports go regarding Nicks.

Starting him over R Moss ... that may change very soon, depending on today's practice.

From Rotoworld:

Hakeem Nicks (ankle) came out in full pads for Friday's practice, but he's not participating in the walkthrough portion open to the media.

The Giants may try to incorporate him in the closed portion of practice, but it's not a great sign that he was held out of walkthrough. The Giants don't play until Sunday night, so fantasy owners will have to make a tough decision earlier in the day. The official injury report comes out Friday afternoon.

The ankle probably just stiffened up after the game due to swelling. I don't like him as a play this week. I'm starting Welker over Nicks, but would probably have done that anyway.

Hakeem Nicks returns to practice (but might be limited) while Osi Umenyiora sits out

The good news for the Giants: Hakeem Nicks was back in pads and running during practice Friday.

Hakeem Nicks returns to practice (but might be limited) while Osi Umenyiora sits out

The TBD-news for the Giants: Nicks didn't appear to be doing much during the jog-through portion of practice.

The bad news for the Giants: Osi Umenyiora wasn't even on the field.

Nicks, who suffered an ankle injury in Sunday's game against the Panthers, was out of action the past two days, even though coach Tom Coughlin had hoped he would return Thursday.

Nicks was running well on the side Friday and appeared to be fine while stopping and cutting as well. But when it came time for the offensive jog-through, Nicks was standing behind the rest of the wide receivers and at one point played a mock safety position. It's unclear if Nicks will participate in the team portion of Friday's practice.

Umenyiora, meanwhile, was likely in the training room to rest his injured knee.

Think it's a smoke screen? No, why would a pro team in Week 2 do that? Nicks is not Reggie Wayne, so familiar with everything in the system that he doesn't need to practice.

Be ready to play? Probably. They need him, this will probably be a game with a lot of points, and Nicks is a playmaker. I imagine they are being cautious with an injury.

This was on the blogger page.

Giants | Hakeem Nicks practicing Friday Fri Sep 17, 12:15 PMNew York Giants WR Hakeem Nicks (ankle) is participating in practice Friday, Sept. 17, and was looking good when running on the side as well as stopping and cutting while running, reports The Star-Ledger's Mike Garafolo.
