Anyone figure out CBS's new interface? (4 Viewers)

CBS is only about 5 years behind in this website design and interface. Whatever the case may be - we have hosted our dynasty league there for 10 years.....

Anyone figure out how to use their interface? We have some off season trades we are trying to enter and we can't get it to work. The other issue is that we have "created players" that are actually rookie draft pick slots - we are unable to move those or trade them either.

Anyone figure it out?

Well - I think I saw that there is some migration help at the MFL site. Main thing we don't want to lose is our league history and record books.

But for what is worth - anyone else like me - here is what I have discovered.

Right now only Internet Explorer 32bit seems to work on the site.

Chrome and IE 64Bit won't show everything on the site - like the roster grids.

If I can get my early bird money back - I would do it - if the migration is easy.

I think CBS will give you a refund. MFL is a great bargain if you like being flexible with your league. You can wind up joining for $30 if you convert and i believe you can import history with you. However, appearance-wise it's the most lacking. Looks like a high school kid's first HTML project.

You actually get a discount if you're a league coming from CBS, as well. Just another reason.
I am sure the answer to all this will be a "YES!" But can some of you MFL users tell me..Does the site allow you to have "draft picks" on your rosters? Will MFL be able to import or setup our league scoring system (which is pretty complicated with bonuses for stuff like QB Rating"Does MFL have any APPs? Like iphone or ipad - so users can manage things from their mobile devices?Love to hear all the answers.

To trade 1. Go to My Team > Trade.2. Select a team on the right side of the screen to trade with. 3. Click the double-arrow button on the players you'd like to trade and the trade will appear in the box above. 4. Press 'Offer Trade'.

Was the draft pick thing necessary to do like that on CBS? I hope not, trading of future draft picks should be basic functionality CBS should have handled years ago.You wouldn't need to create players to simulate draft picks in MFL, it has handling of future draft picks coded. You would just go into your trade window and at the bottom of your roster are shown all of your future year draft picks for as many years in advance as your commish set it up to allow to be traded, and for as many rounds as your draft is set to have. You can trade any combination of picks or players for picks or players.Until the draft order is set for the year of the pick, it identifies the pick by year, round, and the original team like "Year 2013 Round 1 Draft Pick from <team name>". Then in 2013 when you renew your league and set the draft order, it assigns all the 2013 picks accordingly for you.So essentially it works the same, but you won't see them listed on your regular roster report. Instead you'd just pull up the future year draft picks report and it would tell you what all picks you own.

...Will MFL maintain and add to the league records?
Yes. Our league records go back to when we switched over to the site in 2002. And I see there is an Import Remote League in the commissioner history options though I've never used it.
Will MFL be able to import or setup our league scoring system (which is pretty complicated with bonuses for stuff like QB Rating"
I don't know what all they can do as far as pulling your setup out of CBS and auto-setting it up in MFL. But yes, you can find pretty much any stat, including passer rating, pass plays of 20+, 30+, 40+ or 50+ yards, or things like interceptions returned for a TD counting against a QB.
Does MFL have any APPs? Like iphone or ipad - so users can manage things from their mobile devices?Love to hear all the answers.
MFL doesn't have an official app but yes, there are a half dozen apps available for running your MFL league. Including one where the developer normally has a thread here on Footballguys and has been really responsive dealing with issues or adding enhancements. MFL also has a mobile version for basic things like setting a lineup.

MFL needs a new skin so badly, its painful to look at. Running my first team there this year, functionality seems good tho.

This is why I haven't switched. I'm lazy we have been on the site for 10 years now and everyone just throws in 10 bucks to cover the site fees. There are no free apps

I commish a league on MFL with 60 man rosters and 8 man practice squads including head coaches, punters, and offensive linemen so I think I know the site pretty well.Does the site allow you to have "draft picks" on your rosters? We normally roster what we would call "2013 1st Round Pick Team XXX" and these get traded around all the time.

Yes, it allows it. In fact, you can choose how many years ahead to allow owners to trade draft picks.

Will MFL maintain and add to the league records?

Yes, records of highest scoring games are kept. Teams have their wins kept track of and league sites of years past don't get deleted.

Will MFL be able to import or setup our league scoring system (which is pretty complicated with bonuses for stuff like QB Rating"

Yes, passer rating can be scored and bonuses for things like that are possible. I have things set up for total passing yards, total carries, total rushing yards, etc.

Does MFL have any APPs? Like iphone or ipad - so users can manage things from their mobile devices?

They do, and they're okay, but not great. Not worth it in my opinion, I just use my 3g to go on the league website itself.

And what everyone says about its looks are true, it's ####en hideous, but I've used MANY fantasy sites even CBS and MFL is by far the best one in functionality and customization. I wish they would allow me to edit the layout of the website myself.

So...paying more than double for a league website through CBS is okay because a $1-$5 dollar app costs too much...

Not to mention, there are plenty of free Aps out there. At least, I have never paid for one??? I have the one from 2010, and then when that guy decided to start charging in 2011, another free one came out that year. I imagine there will be plenty this season as well.

The problem we ran into is that we have "custom players" - our draft picks. The custom players / draft picks do not work in the selection process. We did discover that if you select one of the draft picks - it is selected even though it does not show up at the top.

I'm not new to MFL... The cost really doesn't matter if everyone is pitching in. I would think for a website as awesome as MFL they would include a mobile app  it's not a deal breaker, I just use the web anyway

I haven't been in a CBS league in a long time, so went over to check out the interface.

I couldn't believe it. They make you watch commercials first just to view their tutorial videos.

Anyone using MFL or thinking of using MFL, while it would take some added funds or time, if you want a site to look a certain way it can be done. I have sunk a ridiculous amount of time into it and enjoy doing so but for those that don't have the time or those who would hate doing it, there are multiple folks who offer their services for money. Message me and I will gladly point you to them.I know someone will jump in and say something about those added costs, but look at like a tattoo for your league. You and your owners pitchin' a few bucks, get it done and it's done. When you renew your league each year all that design work automatically carries over with ya. Well worth the investment if you and your league-mates are into it. Some folks are and some folks aren't.For what CBS costs...you can have MFL and get it custom designed by a third party and then every additional year you pay the reasonable price MFL charges vs the rape charges CBS offers.Good luck to ya!

Agent575, I've never really seen a fully-customized MFL page. Mind linking to one of your leagues that you consider the most impressive? That would be awesome!

ok created a league, tryin to import my 11 years of data from cbs - but I keep getting errors.

Has anyone been able to do this?

TIA

Try contacting MFL...they used to have someone dedicated to helping you with the transition. Very responsive tech support. That was our league's experience anyway.

Here are a few sites that might spark some creativity for some folks thinking about this type of stuff. It really is endless what you can do. Warning: some of the sites I am gonna post have features that guests will not see fully whereas an owner will because it recognizes them being logged in. Any odd spaces on a site are likely that.http://www14.myfantasyleague.com/2012/home/20497http://www25.myfantasyleague.com/2012/home/67193http://www2.myfantasyleague.com/2012/home/27593http://www99.myfantasyleague.com/2012/home/66175http://www9.myfantasyleague.com/2012/home/24182There are hundreds of customized sites out there...from leagues with a banner to leagues with lots of work put into them. Here are the three leagues I play in...http://www18.myfantasyleague.com/2012/home/47200http://www22.myfantasyleague.com/2012/home/49656http://www30.myfantasyleague.com/2012/home/77011Back to the point...sorry to hijack this thread a bit...I just hate that CBS has been allowed to rape fantasy leagues while not providing anything worth their drastic price hike in comparison to what else is out there and "fear of change" is the only reason people can stay with them. There is no excuse.MFL is the best site hands down. If you refuse to pay, ESPN and Yahoo work well enough I think and possibly fleaflicker too. Many seem to like RTSports (I find it dull). IN the year 2012, CBS only beats the USA Today in terms of league management options.Hope I helped just one person flee those rapists. Good luck to all of ya.

I will second that. Never once have had an issue with MFL's support. They respond when they say they will and they will help you til you are satisfied. The forums are also very helpful for those looking for help.

Keep me posted - while my league voted to give CBS a chance to work it out - I would still like to give MFL a chance and setup our league over there so I can try to "sell" the idea again. I am also interested in those really cool custom mods - where or who do you talk to about getting that done. Would gladly pay for a great looking modded site like the one listed in this thread.

Got it resolved already. This morning Kevin - from MFL support had to make a change to something on their end. :thumbup:So I need to now go back and import my stuff. You still have to do a lot of setup since it's limited with what you can import.I need to print out all my cbs stuff since it's set to expire in 3 weeks.I'm going to have to brush off my html skills to see if I can remember :)So far so good!!!

You can create a league and do a lot of the setup type stuff without having to pay for it yet. I'm not sure on the import from CBS, but if I were them I'd have it in the list of things a league can do before purchasing so you can feel comfortable you won't lose anything.Good way to test it without having to spend any cash yet. Over the years I've made a few leagues like that just to test scoring systems and starting lineup requirements before taking a new league live.

Our dynasty league tried MFL a few years back, and were so dissappointed with the site that we immediately switched back to CBS the following year.

How do you handle draft picks in the coming years? I am just curious if there is an easier way to do it. Our dynasty league required teams to drop a minimum of 5 players every year. So we have a 5 round (more if teams drop more) draft each year where rookies or existing free agents can be drafted. My #1 grip about CBS before this new interface - was that they don't have an easy way to roster draft picks. There is so much trading in our league that by the time the year ends draft picks are all over the place.Right now we only go about 1.5 years out in draft picks. Right now we allow league owners to trade picks in the 2013 rookie draft but that is about it. We don't go much further in an effort to prevent owners (like in the NFL) from making bad decisions. (LOL)

Great support at MFL, more options than you can dream of and they are always adding more. It really makes the job of being commish easy.

Check out some awards they've won:

http://www.fsta.org/awards

As others have said you can try it out without paying and make sure its going to work for you, and it has the most customizable interface of any fantasy football site out there.

Here's a couple new sites we've done at MFLaddons

http://www27.myfantasyleague.com/2012/home/63002#0

http://www11.myfantasyleague.com/2012/home/26792#0

http://www13.myfantasyleague.com/2012/home/48815#0

I created a coupon code "leavecbs" for an additional 10% off a template.

MFL also has two new free skins so far this year that are pretty nice. "The Social Network" and "MFL 2012"

Here's my customised page. Template from the guys at MFLAddonsIt should be available to view, if not let me know and I can put some screenshots up...http://www23.myfantasyleague.com/2012/home/30036#0
That's actually really nice. How did you get a custom page like that? I've been tinkering with moving my CBS league to MFL for a few years now but it comes back to me being lazy about testing to see if league history will transfer right and the look. But a setup like that is very nice and easy.ETA: Saw the MFLaddons posts. Very nice work.

Don't like the new CBS format. Used to like them a lot, but all the changes they have made the past few years have been for the worse, IMO.

Another vote for MFL. As a commish, I can't tell you what a godsend their "calendar" option is. Our league has blind bidding up to Thursday, then after processing those overnight, MFL switches to first come, first serve for the rest of the week. All automated, no work by the Commish what-so-ever once you have the calendar setup properly.

The only complaint that I have is with their free agent engine. Now my league ownership is not a set of Ivy leaguers, but every season it takes three or four weeks for someone to get the right way to lineup moves. Honestly, I think that at least one team does not even try to make moves because of it. I give every owner screen shots showing EXACTLY how their moves should be lined up and people still scr&w it up.

New CBS interface really sucks. Nothing is easy to get to, and you sometimes have to go through several different screens to get to the one you want.

I can't figure out how to search for a player in the free-agent pool. You have to either go to Scout Team or Add/Drop to search. Going to the stats page just lists them without search capability, so if you want to see someone's stats you have to dig.

They have some real morons developing downgrading the site. They took away the pick 'em feature. The breakdown appears to be gone also. Setting lineups are a downgrade in technique as well. Instead of setting the player via a drop down, you have to drag him between 'starter' and 'reserve'.

Dumb question I can't find. How do I customize the full MFL page? I know how to put in my custom messages and or change the skin but what if I want to create my own skin...

Not positive, but I think you probably create your own pages and css files and enter them in the "Images & Other URLs" section of the Appearance Setup menu. I have made minor edits to the css files before and uploaded my edits, but a lot of this is beyond my knowledge.Edit to add: I assume you're not talking about just changing which modules appear on the home page, but instead talking about redoing the way they look.
