Anyone have the video of the Al Davis press conference? (1 Viewer)

If you dug up the corpse of someone who died two years ago, the corpse would both look and sound better than Davis just did. Seriously.

No link, watched it on nfln.

aside from looking like the grim reaper has davis on speed dial, he seemed only interested in jusyifying his decision to fire kiff "for cause" (covering his #### vs. pending law suits ala shanny for breech of contract) sad really, especially since kiff wasn't afforded the opportunity to give his side of the story publically. i can't see how any nfl qualified coach would consider walking into that $!@T storm.

it was rather sad to watch imo. the guy may still think he has something to contribute to the raiders and the nfl, but clearly his time is done - and he's not going quietly.

Al Davis freaking rules !!!I'm hoping he comes down from his throne to coach the Raiders himself. It's all about the Greatness of the Raidizzzz, and only Al can provide the spark that is the Commitment to Excellence.Sincerely,Patriot Fan.

Quotes from the presser:

"The fundamentals of our team are strong."

"This will bring Change the Raiders can believe in."

"Raiders First"

"It will all be described in my new book the Audacity of Firing Coaches With No Real Shot At Winning."

"Mortensen broke the story that I was interviewing three guys for the job...I wasn't interviewing three guys for the job, but Mortensen had the story no sooner than the three guys left the office..1 2 3" :coffee:

What a sordid, sordid tale. As ridiculously stubborn and out of it and borderline paranoid as Al comes across, he's a pretty powerful guy. His ability to run a football franchise is nil at this point but he's still the owner of the business and I don't doubt for one second that Kiffin was trying to get fired, get his money and get out of there. This was a Mexican standoff and Al won. I loved the part where the reporter asked Al if he was prepared to defend his case against Kiffin if a grievance was brought before the comissioner and Al says "I wouldn't have done it if I didn't think I could win." That's where I think Kiffin lost this thing. There are 32 members of the board in the NFL and Al is one of them. And he's been one of them for a long time.

It's pretty clear that Al wants a yes man who does exactly what he tells him to do with no questions asked. It's his team. He's a pathetic excuse for an executive but it's his team. Now can we move on with the Russell-McFadden era? There are at least 2 or 3 more wins to get in the next couple of seasons.

Yeah ... I caught that. He also considers it speaking/talking to someone when he sends a letter Fed Ex. We'll get to hear Kiffin's side tomorrow ... maybe. I imagine Monte Kiffin is well-respected in the NFL community, and here's a guy in a press conference calling his son a liar. This is so bizarre!I can't help but to think of Paul Harvey's The Rest of the Story

Al Davis throws money at everyone. Why is he being cheap to his head coach?
I don't think its about the money with Al on this, it's the principal. He's doesn't want Lane to get one over on him and get the last laugh.

Haven't seen Al in a few years and I gotta admit, he doesn't look nearly as bad as I thought he would. He might be a has been, but he's still got most of his marbles. They might be misguided, but he's there.

Just played through the first couple minutes with the nurse SO.
