Anyone starting Cutler this week? (1 Viewer)

I'm assuming most people drafted Cutler to be an every week starter. I'm just curious how many people are starting him this week against Oakland without his stud WR.

Yes, I think his numbers will be fine, although in all fairness, my other options are Warner and Edwards.

I'm starting Warner over him. Oakland's pass D is pretty good, and without Marshall i expect Cutlers numbers to be something like 300 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT.While for Warner i expect something like 350-400 yards and 2-4 TDs.

Fantasy Dream Stats and actual game stats dont usually equate to one another - 350-400 yds for warner and 300 for cutler - I would take the under on both of those all day.

If you like Cutler and feel you missed out, pray Cutler has a terrible game 1 and then trade for him quickly. Marshall looked densational in the preseason, scary good, we could see where he has an effect like Owens has had on QBs like Jeff Garcia, McNabb, and Romo...anyone think Cutler has at least the kind of talent that some of those guys had?

absolutely. He has all the tools...a gun, a gunslinger mentality, very smart, decent scrambler and in the pocket, very accurate with all routes....there's really not too much not to like...

I am starting him this week. I could start David Garrard, but Brandon Marshall is overrated(though certainly better than the rest of Denver's motley receiver stable) and Tennessee was the best pass D in the league last year.

Going with Schaub @ Pitt week 1; plan to use both QBs til I trade one to cover week 8 bye or pick up some scrub off waiver wire for the bye & play QBBC all year w/ Cutler / Schaub

Yea... but Cutler is on MNF the first week of the season! :goodposting: I think that kind of potential excitement might be too much for me to pass up on. Steelers aren't exactly a pushover secondary either. I started w/ Schaub in there but I'll probably roll w/ Jay.

Oak secondary isn't too shabby either. PLUS, I think both Oak & Den will run the ball....A LOT. The Hous @ Pitt game at least has the potential to be a shoot-out. I just like Schaub w/ all of his weapons against a Steelers team that will score more than I like Cutler sans Marshall against a Raiders team that probably won't score, and will run the ball.

Starting Big Ben over Cutler this week but I have a feeling I'll be taking Cutler over a lot of the matchups Roethlisberger will be encountering throughout the season.

I have a tough call this week, and most likely, every freaking week. I am starting Kitna over Cutler this week, but I do love Cutler for a big 2008. I also have Rodgers, but I think Kitna gives me the best chance for big fantasy numbers this week.

And you base this on what? :)

I'm a little biased here...but without marshall...i wouldn't start Cutler this week. Raiders have an insane secondary that plays man to man coverage (asomugha and d'hall). Huff has been looking great at FS and they added Gibril Wilson. They implemented the Giants Blitz scheme this year and they have two pretty fast LB's so expect more pressure on Cutler this game. I'd start him every game after though with the return of Marshall.

starting warner over cutler this week.. easy decision with marshall out but i imagine it will be a tough call the rest of the season

I totally agree with you. If the Raiders have a weakness on defense it's going against the run (and Hall sometimes giving up a big play). Without Marshall I don't know why anybody would think Cutler would start slinging the ball everywhere against what is expected to be one of the best secondaries. If the Broncos score points and win this game it will be due to their running game, not their passing attack. I'm really confused why so many people are loving Cutler this week.

Wow, seeing a bit of a trend here... I too am starting Warner over Cutler, but Cutler should be my QB1 for greater part of the season.

I have Cutler in 2 leagues.

In one, I am starting Hasselback over Cutler, in the other, I'll go with Cutler over Pennington.

I think 225 and 1TD is Cutler's high side this week without Marshall. I am having more trouble with the Scheffler decision.

Raiders secondary is banged up...looking for up dates.

Both hall(hand) and Asomsghu(spelling) are having issues.

I'm in the exact same boat and starting Cutler. :tinfoilhat:

:tinfoilhat: not thrilled about it - but if they give him time, he'll be effective.

i have cutler and delhomme, who are pretty much in the same boat (both missing their favorite/most talented target), so i'll probably flip a coin. :blackdot:

i think Cutler becomes an every week starter, possibly semi-elite, this year. so yes i am starting him with confidence against Oakland.

I'm starting him in one league where the only other option is Delhomme in San Diego without Steve Smith.

In another league I'm still bouncing back and forth between Cutler and Garrard. I'm leaning towards Garrard.

Rodgers over Cutler.. If Denver was at home maybe (even without Marshall) but on the road in the blackhole? I'll sit him and cut him loose next week.

This from someone who nas man-love for Cutler this year. Starting Favre over Cutler in one league; Campbell over Cutler in another. Oak's DBs are just too good.

BTW - I'm starting Zack Miller over Scheffler too.

Eli and Warner over Cutler (2 QB). I'll likely reinsert him and Marshall (latter definitely) into the lineup next week. Gonna ride Eli through Sept.

Schaub got reinserted... but it's going to be hard to keep Cutler out on MNF (which he hasn't really shined on)

I am in the exact same boat as you with all three of the same QBs. I also agree with everything you said and will be starting Kitna this week as well.
