AOL scraps fanhouse writers (1 Viewer)

I've been seeing this on twitter for a day or so now and haven't seen it here. I tried searching. I was sure it would be here but I don't see it anywhere so...

One of the most popular sports sections to read on the web, Fanhouse, was essentially shut down. It seems every writer was canned and now SportingNews will be using the fanhouse name.

Hopefully Sporting News keeps some of the Fanhouse writers/reporters. They would be wise to do so, at least. I'd take Fanhouse's writers over Sporting News's any day.

Don, I'm not hearing good things.

For some reason I can't recall the names AOL signed on from their jobs at newspapers or whatnot, but they did have some "names" working there too. Those guys might find work at SportingNews but all of this has to make them wonder if this is a secure company to work for, if that's the right move etc.

There's a slew of companies that claim to pay bloggers, most truly don't. AOL was one that did and not coincidentally they had some good sorta fan writers there. (They did have some junky writers but that's inevitable with the massive numbers they had) I really hope those guys pop up on the web elsewhere. I enjoyed reading them.

I always have loved reading the best bloggers. The guys that truly "get it". The ones that know that they aren't sports reporters working for a newspaper and that they probably don't have a million people reading their article so quit acting like you're talking to the masses. Just sit down and write how you feel because that's how you feel.

In about a year and a half I have discussed this blog post http://kissingsuzykolber.uproxx.com/2009/0...rett-favre.html about 100 times. It's one of my all-time favorites. I just saw it on twitter a few weeks ago because someone else said something like THIS is what blogs should be. It's not the cursing, ya gotta get over that. It's here I'm a fan and this is how I feel. It's entertaining too. It's...off on a tangent....Fanhouse had some real good bloggers that knew what NFL blogging is supposed to be about.
