Arch Manning (Cooper's son) 2026 Draft Elgible (1 Viewer)

I think he’s coming out in 2027. Parcels told us quarterback starts in college matter and we ignored it. He doesn’t need the money and money can’t replace reps. The Saints should have their FO/coaches in place by then. A layup.

Guarantee? I'd be shocked if he's in the 2026 draft and would feel that way if NIL money did not exist.
I 100% agree. He is 19 and comes from a plethora of family NFL experience. I imagine his focus is on developing into the best quarterback he can be and money is most certainly secondary in his situation. He will be advised wisely, and I doubt that advice is to rush into the NFL.

This thread was started in 2020 and he might not get an NFL snap until 2027. Probably a Shark Pool record that will never be broken.

Only way he's in next year's draft is if he has an all time college QB season in 2025.

That seems very, very unlikely.
Imagine the Saints with the top pick next year ... I expect that this process is already underway. And if they miss their mark, they get a second swing in 2027.

As the starter of this post, I will officially go on record saying Arch is not coming out next spring. He's barely played, maybe 2 1/2 games to date? Archie, Payton and Eli all stayed 4 years, Arch will as well. He made 8.2 million in NIL money last year, not a bad side gig. One of Bill Parcell's criteria for drafting a QB was 30 starts minimum. Arch has what 3?. At the end of this season maybe 15/16. He's not coming out folks, especially when he can make millions staying in. I keep seeing Saints tank for Arch, it's not going to happen. I'd bet it's more likely my Dudley Fuddpeckers draft Arch next year than the Saints do, or any other NFL team, not that there's anything wrong with that.

The tank for Arch will be on, although still uncertain which year he declares. NFL needs a draft lottery imo. Something where #1 can fall a max of 3 slots but not guaranteed #1.

That's a horrible idea.
Why?
it wouldn't fix anything. instead of tanking for worst record teams tank to get in the 3 worst records for a shot at #1 pick.
Maybe, if it was 4 or 5 teams that had a shot and the #1 team had say a 25% chance not sure would be worth tanking for that.

They just need to kill the draft entirely. If they're really concerned about parity, keep the salary cap, that's enough.

It doesn't make any sense, that's why. Maybe I'm in the minority but I don't see the appeal of the NBA lottery. It's just another way to try to make a production out of every little thing.

The worst team should get the first pick. Pretty simple. Everyone wants to make a carnival out of everything.

The NFL has quite literally turned the draft into a three day carnival. Changing format won't change that in the least.

Except a pick lottery wouldn't be part of the draft carnival. It would be a new separate event for the carnies with small hands and smell of cabbage to exploit.

The tank for Arch will be on
Take FF thinking out of it.
Players don't tank.

If you are any of the 53 team players would you - intentionally - lose career stats, reduce your contract's bonus $ for making/missing milestones, reduce chances at increased future contracts for lower production, increase likelihood of being cut/traded for low output, and get less money + benefits for you + your family?
Just so some new hire of 53 is taken a spot or 2 before they would have before; possibly taking your job.

Seriously. As a real life person with real world responsibilities... would you?
Would you do it in your own chosen profession?

It's not the players, it's the organization that tanks. Colts tanked for Peyton by playing Curtis Painter all year. And maybe it doesn't happen a lot but in certain situations teams can bench a QB at the end of the year and things like that.

I don't buy it. The biggest problem is you need the Head Coach to be involved in the decision to tank and coaches in that position typically don't have the job security needed. In the example you cited (BTW, you meant Luck not Peyton), Caldwell was fired at the end of the year. Also, the Colts won 2 of their last 3 games and almost lost the first pick. A funny way to tank.

An Organization is a group of individuals and ultimately it's the players and coaches who win/lose games. I just don't see it happening.

Yes, meant Luck. Gonna give up trying to convince anyone, I'll bow out, hijacking the thread anyway.

It'd never happen, but I think it'd be really cool if the draft worked the exact opposite way. As in, the Super Bowl winner picked #1, and the team with the worst record picked last. It'd fully eliminate any reason to not play to win every week and make the draft more interesting. Like, after winning the 2020 Super Bowl, would Tampa Bay have taken Trevor Lawrence to develop behind Brady, or would they have added Chase or Sewell? I don't think it would unbalance the league either due to the salary cap, and lead to some interesting personnel choices.

The interesting part is the teams in running for him all have connections
Saints - Home of Archie
Giants - Home of Eli
Colts - Home of Payton
Browns - Hallam close friend

Or is there too much pressure to follow a previous Manning

CBS puts 5 teams as favs for 2027. Some good franchises

In dynasty / devy circles, it feels like the Arch hype is at a high point. As much fun as it may be to have him on my devy squad, I' wondering if now is the time to trade him. He's probably not coming out next year and grandpa Archie says he may play two full years so the wait would be a while. I won the league last year and probably the favorite to win this year so don't really need to move him right now though. What do people think his value will look like over the next year or so? What would you do with him? TIA!

His value is definitely inflated right now. He's a top 3 Devy prospect who hasn't seen full playing time. I think the problem is who do you feel better about? I'd flip him + for J. Smith. All the rest of the QBs have the same question marks, but I think Manning is safer due to name recognition. Even if his next two years at Texas are average, NFL teams are going to look at him longer and harder. He's likely to get a couple chances in the NFL even if he doesn't turn out to be a homerun.

If you're in a win now and need a QB, I think I'd value him in maybe that 10-16 tier of QBs. Herbert, Purdy, Lawrence or Caleb or Stroud maybe.

I have a share and I'm holding.

Y’all gotta chill with the Arch Manning overreactions.

Year-1 starter playing on the road against the defending national champs. Let the young man figure it out.

Expect some growing pains and struggles he ain’t his uncles yet.

Benjamin Allbright
People are really gonna have whole conversations on-air this week pretending they can judge a kid’s entire career off one start on the road against a top 5 defense.

This guy is legit. Anyone who says otherwise just just hating the name and the pub he gets after having not done much. What he does in the pros is anyone's guess, but he's going to be a top 5 pick.

EDIT - He can have a bad game and have the above be true. I can acknowledge he made some dumb decisions and bad passes today. He also made some throws that were .

He didn't beat out Quinn Ewers who wasn't good.

You can tell he's the real deal...he will be a big time #1-pick franchise-QB like his Uncles...you can also tell he really hasn't played in two years (and having the first game be at OSU did him no favors)...would not be surprised if he actually does play two years at Texas...Peyton and Eli played 4 years of college ball and it worked out in a big way for both of them...gonna be fun to see where his game is once we get into the playoffs.
