What an amazing week for the Bengals, even by their standards you have to stand back in awe of what is unfolding at the moment in Cincinnati
-First, let's start with the team cutting their Captain on Defense, and they could have released him much earlier in the off season and chose not to.
Regardless of your personal opinion and I'm sure Bengals' fans dismiss this move and don't think about it all that much but it sure sends a clear message to other players or anyone thinking of signing with this team...not that the NFLPA hasn't alerted everyone already
-Next! I could have saved Trey Hendrickson a lot of time and energy by simply pointing out how the Bengals made Burrow go thru August camps and injure his calf before they finally get his extension done, Hurts and Herbert were extended months prior to Burrow. Then you have Chase and Higgins, BOTH of them should have been extended at the 36 month timeline, 3 years after they signed their rookie deals, Higgins had to play on a franchise tag, Chase had to play on Year 4, as an example the Miami Dolphins extended Waddle in the same Draft class well before Chase, almost an entire year+
-Finally, and this one takes the cake. They put wording into rookie Shemar Stewart's deal that no other rookie had in their contract and now they have angered him to the point where he decides to RIP the front office a new one and says the leaders on that team support him...Burrow-Chase-Higgins-Hendrickson, they all must have told him you better get it up front or you won't get it.
The wording involves $$$ and Stewart not getting all his guaranteed money if the Bengals were to release him in Year 2-3-4 whenever...no other rookie was asked to do this
Cincinnati and its first-round pick are in a standoff.
