Are we on the verge of a the next waiver wire breakout? (1 Viewer)

Rounders

Footballguy
Last year at this time is when Colston and MJD presented themselves to the world.

Jones-Drew - Wk 3 - 135 total yards & 1 TD

Colston - Wk 1 - 49 yards & 1 TD & Wk 2 - 58 yards & 1 TD.

So are we on the verge on any players following this pattern? Right now I can see Welker following in Colston's footsteps, but how about any RBs?

What you got?

Jacoby Jones - I don't have him in any league, but I wish I did.
:hifive:Now I just gotta decide if I have the stones to start him over Braylon (@ Oak).I already have Daniels, so there should be points there one way or another if it's a shootout.

Well, in the interest of going with someone other than those mentioned before, how about Dwayne Bowe.
I don't own Bowe in a single league ...plus I hate the Chiefs, but any time the ball comes near this guy, I think something great is gonna happen.Bowe will be a top 5 receiver some day.

Jacoby Jones has done nothing so far this year. Granted that Andre is out and he should be the primary target for week 03 but the guy has done nothing up until this point. Even if Jones has a great week I am not sold that Jones will keep it up when Andre returns.Someone please tell me what I am missing!

I read on here that he has bad hands. I can't remember who posted it, but is there any validity to that? He seems to have everything else.

well with andre johnson out, avant has been starting...and i picked up roydell williams...not sure which of the two i'll play this week...but i like both of their upsides, a lot

I just added Derrick Mason in a 12-team keeper league, he's been solid so far in two games.third time is a charm!

Add to that list, Ronald Curry. During preseason, He was hooking up with Culpepper quite a bit, reminded me of the Culpepper/Moss duo in Minnesota.. I think Curry is going to be Culepper's go-to guy. I don't believe Kiffin will stay with McCown if he keeps screwing up, and he's probably on a short leash, anyways.

Great topic Rounders. I agree that Roydell Williams is a good pick to emerge this week, but it might just be a "this week" only thing. We'll see.

Obviously these aren't WW players, but...

Braylon Edwards came on last week, so maybe this is the week Santonio Holmes has a 100-yd 2 TD game.
Dwayne Bowe has a legit chance to begin his rites of passage as an emerging WR in the league
Arnaz Battle is another WR that I think might have a nice game @ PIT. If Alex Smith can figure it out, at least.
Bernard Berrian could have a nice game against allas. That's right. There's no "D" in Dallas right now.
Demetrius Williams has yet to show his true stuff yet. The coaches and staff are real high on him. Week 3 could be his coming out
Vincent Jackson against Green Bay. I would not be surprised to see Al Harris cover Gates, which would put Woodson on Jackson. I'm waiting for Jackson to arrive. I still think he'll be good.
One of Santana Moss or Antwaan Randle El is due for a big game against the Giants. Possibly both. Should be a great passing matchup there.

The one that's getting a lot of waiver wire buzz this week and appears to be getting an opportunity to MJD it is Wynn. I'm just not sure if he can produce on a weekly level.

Waivers were just processed in one of my leagues (FSTA), and I landed both Jason Avant (dropped D.J. Hackett - shallow bench and no taxi squad in this league) and Dwayne Bowe (dropped Daniel Graham as I have Todd Heap at TE). I like both guys to continue emerging/improving - Avant is overtaking Reggie Brown IMO, and Bowe has a great shot to show what he can do thanks to the Kennison injury. Coach Edwards has already stated that Bowe will stay involved when (if) Kennison returns.

Those are my 2 top WR picks among the WW guys likely to be available in leagues right now.

He had a ton of drops at LSU. Then he got Lasik surgery and his drops decreased dramatically. His hands aren't as bad as once believed. Not exactly Derrick Mason, but not Chris Chambers either.

Yes, his name is Derrick Ward and he fit into this category after Week 1 and Week 2 and Week 3 and Week 4 and.....
Fixed
I would add that Ward is likely the waiver wire breakout of the year for RB (yes I did just say that), the WR candidate is still unknown. I wish I had grabbed Ward in my main local league. I had the chance but didn't do it...

Michael Clayton - he has done it before and has a decent QB. Clayton is impressing Gruden with his effort in blocking and doing the small things .. plus he is finally healthy.

Antonio Bryant - immediately valuable when/if he signs

Kellen Clemens - his time is coming ... fairly soon

Kelly Holcomb - Is there a chance he plays well, manages the game well, and keeps the starting gig?

Ryan Grant - The normally stingy Packers do not trade away draft picks, so the trade for Grant speaks volumes on how much they like him.

These are not just for this week but in the next few weeks.

Top five??? Um, who's the Chiefs QB? And who's the Chiefs coach? That's what I thought.

The original Adrian Peterson as soon as Benson breaks down either physically (he's a ####) or mentally (he's unstable)

and

Glenn Holt

Why can't I say #### I left the Y off

Jason Avant.
I agree. Brown and Curtis don't seem to be getting it done, perhaps leaving the door open for Avant. What I noticed is that while Avant hasn't had a ton of targets (9 through two weeks), he's caught 8 of them. Now that's production.

Only one person for DeShawn Wynn, and its lukewarm, I am surprised, the dude has a chance to take over with no one wanting the RB job, Brandon Jackson and Vernard Morency haven't done anything to show they deserve it. He had 2TD's and is averaging 5.3 yards I know its only one week vs the Giants but still a player needs to produce when given the chance and he has.Colston last year played Cleveland and Green Bay and everyone thought he was just lucky with an easy match up.

Not going to be easy for Wynn by any means. I'm putting stock in something else.Pack upcoming schedule: vs. SD, @MIN, vs. CHI, vs. WAS, BYE, @ JAC, @ CAR, vs. NWE

Cleat I agree those are tough matchups except WAS and Jac but my belief is anytime you can pick up a waiver wire RB that has a legitimate chance to compete for the starting job, you do it. Sure Jackson and Morency might be ahead of him in two weeks but for this week 3 he is a solid add, and you can always drop later

Ehhh Demetruis, I still like the dude but he has been surpassed by M. Clayton as #3 cuz M.C healthy supposedly and the QB situation is highly unstable, not to mention Heap is stealing receptions plus Willis McGahee getting a lot of touches. Not this year for me, I dropped him.

Antonio Bryant needs to be mentioned again.

I will also throw out Bryant Johnson. This is more for dynasty leagues and he should already be rostered, but if he's not, this is the chance to get him. Especially with all the talk of Fitz possibly leaving Arizona, get him now while you can.
